  • Valbuena has been bothered by toe injury
Astros manager A.J. Hinch admitted Sunday that Luis Valbuena has been bothered by an injury to the big toe on his left foot.

Advice: Valbuena has been able to play through the injury, but has apparently done so in some degree of pain. The 29-year-old has slugged 19 home runs and driven in 36 runs on the season, despite hitting .203/.286/.438. Rotoworld.com

  • Braves still looking to move Chris Johnson
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Braves are still looking to trade Chris Johnson, including deals where he would be "attached to another player."

Advice: The Braves used this same technique in April when the Padres were forced to acquire Melvin Upton Jr. in order to get Craig Kimbrel. Johnson has hit just .258 since his breakout season in 2013. He'll be a free agent after next season. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Flaherty optioned, could be back Monday
Orioles optioned 2B Ryan Flaherty to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: The Orioles needed to make room for Jonathan Schoop. Flaherty could return to the roster as soon as Monday. That's when the O's are expected to place Nolan Reimold on the paternity list. Usually when someone gets sent down they have to stay in the minors for a minimum of 10 days, but that doesn't apply to players on paternity leave. Rotoworld.com

  • Jonathan Schoop (knee) activated from DL
Orioles activated Jonathan Schoop (knee) from the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: He rejoined the Orioles in Chicago Saturday after completing a 10-game rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie and High-A Frederick. The 23-year-old hit .259 in nine games before a sprained PCL sent him to the disabled list in mid-April. Ryan Flaherty was optioned in the corresponding roster move. Rotoworld.com

  • Yangervis Solarte goes deep on Saturday
Yangervis Solarte belted his fourth home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: His solo blast off Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez in the fourth inning wound up being the extent of the Padres offense in the contest. He finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .249/.298/.378 with four homers and 30 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Valbuena has RBI single Saturday vs. Red Sox
Luis Valbuena went 2-for-4 with RBI single Saturday against the Red Sox.

Advice: His RBI single in the ninth was the Astros' only offense of the day against Clay Buchholz. Through three months, Valbuena has had one of the strangest seasons to date. While he has 19 home runs and 36 RBI on the year, he's batting just .201 with a .281 on-base percentage. He could be pushed into a part-time role when Jed Lowrie is ready to come off the disabled list. Rotoworld.com

  • Jose Iglesias not in Tigers lineup Saturday
Jose Iglesias is not in the Tigers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It's nothing more than a day of rest for the slick-fielding shortstop. Josh Wilson will draw a rare start in his place and bat eighth against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Rotoworld.com

  • Cliff Pennington comes up big as Arizona wins
Cliff Pennington delivered a game-tying single in the sixth and a game-ending sac fly in the 10th as the Diamondbacks topped the Rockies 4-3 on Friday.

Advice: Pennington remains a fine utilityman, but the Diamondbacks haven't gotten a ton of use from him this year with Nick Ahmed playing well at short and Aaron Hill acting as the primary fallback at second and third. The runs batted in he collected tonight were just his sixth and seventh of the season, and it was also only his second multihit game. Rotoworld.com

  • Solarte triples in win over Cardinals
Yangervis Solarte went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Don't expect to see Solarte legging out triples on a regular basis. The three-bagger was his first of the season and just the second of his career. He's hitting .249/.299/.367 with three homers and 29 RBI for the 2015 campaign and shouldn't be relied upon in fantasy formats, despite the newfound existence of wheels on those feet. Rotoworld.com

  • Uribe's seventh-inning homer lifts Braves
Juan Uribe hit a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh inning of Friday's 2-1 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Uribe's solo shot off of Adam Morgan in the seventh inning snapped a 1-1 tie and served as the final run to score in the game. The bomb was his seventh of the season and gave him 18 RBI for the year. A dependable, if unspectacular, player throughout his career, Uribe is currently hitting a dependable, if unspectacular, .279/.330/.426. Rotoworld.com

  • Tomas knocks in a pair vs. the Rockies
Yasmany Tomas smacked a two-run double in Thursday's win against the Rockies.

Advice: The seventh-inning drive off of Scott Oberg plated A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt and gave the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead in the eventual 8-1 victory. The Tomas investment looked like an early flop, but he's slashing a tasty .318/.359/.441 through 220 at-bats. If the power comes and the average doesn't suffer because of it, he's going to be a fantasy star. Rotoworld.com

Yangervis Solarte was ejected from Thursday's game in the sixth inning for arguing a check-swing call.

  • Rojas triples, singles twice in win over SF
Miguel Rojas went 3-for-4 with a triple in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Rojas was called up in late June to act as a utility bat. The three hits he recorded on Thursday were his first three of the season. Playing for Triple-A New Orleans prior to the call-up, he hit .302/.345/.431 over 64 games. He doesn't figure to see enough significant at-bats to become fantasy relevant. Rotoworld.com

  • Solarte prevents Padres from getting no-hit
Yangervis Solarte gave the Padres reason to smile in Tuesday's loss to the Mariners, as his seventh-inning double prevented a no-hitter.

Advice: Mariners starter Mike Montgomery hadn't allowed a hit with one out in the seventh inning when Solarte stepped to the plate. He saved his team from ignominy with a double, but he was ultimately stranded. Solarte had consecutive multi-hit games coming into Tuesday, but otherwise hasn't done much at the plate in 2015, batting .247/.299/.344 with two home runs and 28 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Uribe homers to prevent a shutout loss
Juan Uribe homered in the ninth inning to prevent the Braves from suffering a shutout loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: The Braves entered the ninth inning down 6-0, but Uribe at least saved his team the indignity of a shutout, launching a solo home run to left field off of former Brave David Carpenter. Uribe has homered twice in his last three games, but has mostly struggled this season. Including his time with the Dodgers, he has five home runs, 16 RBI, and a .279/.333/.397 triple-slash line. Jonathan Schoop (knee) is likely to remain in the minor leagues for the remainder of this week.

  • Tomas homers as D'Backs top the Dodgers
Yasmany Tomas homered and walked in five trips to the plate Monday as the Diamondbacks took down the Dodgers.

Advice: Tomas lined a two-run home run to left field in the sixth inning off of Yimi Garcia. It barely made it over the fence and was reviewed for fan interference, but was ultimately upheld. The power hasn't quite been there as often as the D'Backs would have liked, but Tomas has otherwise done a fine job at the plate in his first year in the majors, batting .314/.357/.440 with four home runs and 29 RBI. The Orioles are expected to make a decision on Jonathan Schoop (knee) on Monday.

Advice: Schoop will either be activated from the disabled list or continue his rehab with Triple-A Norfolk. He's been rehabbing at Double-A Bowie but the Baysox are going on the road and the Orioles would prefer to have Schoop closer to Baltimore. Schoop's 20-day rehab window expires on July 8.
