J.P. Arencibia had himself a ballgame, going 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI in Tuesday's rout of the Orioles.

Advice: Oddly enough, six RBI isn't even a career-high for Arencibia. He knocked in seven last season for the Rangers and six back in 2012 for the Blue Jays. The catcher plated two with a single in the fourth inning, another two with another single in the fifth, then tacked on a two-run home run in the seventh. Arencibia had singled twice in nine at-bats across five games in the big leagues entering the night. With Curt Casali sidelined, he will start every two or three days along with Rene Rivera. Tuesday, 7:21 pm

He hit a paltry .180/.247/.191 in 102 plate appearances with the Sox in earlier cups of coffee. The 26-year-old catcher was hitting better at Triple-A, but not that much better. He doesn't figure to provide much offense at the major league level over the next month. Tuesday, 9:53 am

Tigers recalled C Bryan Holaday from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Holaday's just coming back from a dislocated left thumb suffered in the middle of August. The 27-year-old backstop will serve as an emergency third catcher for the Tigers. Yankees purchased the contract of C Austin Romine from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Romine was removed from the 40-man roster back in April, but the Yankees needed a third catcher and an injury to Gary Sanchez opened the door for his return. The 26-year-old was batting .260/.311/.379 with seven home runs and 49 RBI over 92 games in Triple-A this season. Tuesday, 5:48 am

While he's set a career high with 13 home runs this season, and will have a career-high RBI number by season's end (he drove in 55 a year ago and currently sits at 54), his overall batting line is just .243/.286/.407.
