  • Lawrie's 4 hits, 4 RBI not enough to beat LAD
Brett Lawrie went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a homer, three runs scored and four RBI in a loss Wednesday to the Dodgers.

Advice: He also stole a bag in the monster performance. Lawrie started at third tonight, but he's expected to also draw starts at second base in the wake of Tuesday's Ben Zobrist trade. He's slashing .280/.314/.412 and is on pace for 14 homers, 67 RBI, 54 runs and eight steals. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:49 pm
  • Lowrie to return to Astros lineup Thursday
Jed Lowrie (thumb) will be activated from the disabled list and return to the Astros lineup on Thursday.

Advice: Lowrie will start at third base for the Astros, with Carlos Correa firmly entrenched as the team's starting shortstop. Before landing on the shelf, the 31-year-old was hitting .300/.432/.567 with four homers and 10 RBI in 18 games. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:45 pm

  • Yangervis Solarte goes 4-for-5
Yangervis Solarte finished 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Solarte is playing fairly regularly with Will Middlebrooks in the minors and Cory Spangenberg on the DH, and he's hit well this month, batting .284 with three homers in 74 at-bats. There's no mixed-league value here at all, but he's giving the Padres a lift. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:38 pm
  • Goins reaches base 3 times as the Jays win
Ryan Goins went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI double in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Phillies.

Advice: The Jays banged out 16 hits against the Phillies' pitching, so Goins' contributions were relative drops in the bucket. Still a productive night. He doubled in a run in the seventh to push the Jays' lead to 8-1 at the time. Goins has otherwise not done much at the dish, batting .227/.274/.323 with two home runs and 26 RBI. • Tulowitzki homers, knocks in 3 in TOR debut
Troy Tulowitzki made his Blue Jays debut and went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in a win against the Phillies on Wednesday.

Advice: What a way to make a debut. He struck out in his first at-bat with his new club, but made up for it with a two-run home run in the third inning. He added an RBI double in the sixth. Tulowitzki now has 13 home runs on the year with 56 RBI along with a .305 average. The Rogers Center is friendly to right-handed hitters, so the move away from Coors Field may not hurt his numbers all that much. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:54 pm
  • Jose Peraza would be included in Dodgers deal
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Jose Peraza would head to the Dodgers in the rumored three-team deal with the Marlins.

Advice: As it currently stands, the Dodgers would receive Peraza, Alex Wood and Jim Johnson from the Braves plus Mat Latos and Michael Morse from the Marlins. The Braves would receive Hector Olivera, Zach Bird and a compensation pick, while the Marlins would acquire three low-level minor league pitchers. There are still hurdles to clear, so don't expect anything to be finalized until Thursday at the earliest. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:54 pm

  • Wilmer Flores heading to Brewers for Gomez
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Wilmer Flores will head to the Brewers with Zack Wheeler in exchange for outfielder Carlos Gomez.

Advice: It's unclear if he'll be utilized at shortstop for the Mets, or if he'll take over their vacancy at third base. The 23-year-old was hitting .249/.281/.379 with 10 homers and 40 RBI in 92 games with the Mets this season. It's a nice haul for the Brewers in exchange for a year-plus of Gomez. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that Justin Turner will miss a few more games due to the infection in his leg.

  • Baez goes yard twice in Tuesday's return
Cubs SS prospect Javier Baez blasted two home runs Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: it was his first game back in Triple-A after missing close to two months with a broken finger. Tuesday marked Baez's third multi-homer game of 2015. He's dominated the minor leagues this season, hitting .325 across 157 at-bats while posting a stellar .399 on base percentage. The 22-year-old has come up in trade rumors and could be dealt ahead of Friday's deadline. Starlin Castro, the Cubs' current shortstop, could also be available. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:27 pm

  • Francisco Lindor homers, drives in four runs
Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

Advice: Lindor singled in his first at-bat, hit a sacrifice fly in his second and capped off his day with a three-run homer in the sixth. The shortstop has really turned it up a notch of late, hitting .324 with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 16 games. It was an offensive explosion for the Tribe, as they pounded out 18 hits -- including four home runs -- and 12 runs. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 12:30 pm

  • Asdrubal Cabrera homers in Rays' loss
Asdrubal Cabrera belted a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Cabrera's solo shot in the fifth inning represented the lone run for the Rays. He also gave it back and then some, as a crucial error by the shortstop in the seventh led to the Tigers' only two runs. Cabrera is batting just .231/.281/.373 for Tampa this season. • Padres talking to Cubs about Javier Baez
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Padres have discussed Javier Baez with the Cubs.

Advice: FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reported on Monday that they've also talked to the Cubs about Starlin Castro as they look for a long-term solution at shortstop. The Cubs are interested in a few of the Padres' starters, namely Tyson Ross and Andrew Cashner, so the two sides could be a match. Baez has spent all season at Triple-A Iowa, batting .317/.387/.572 with 10 homers over 38 games in an injury-shortened campaign. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:39 am

  • Gregorius has four hits, 3 RBI vs. Rangers
Didi Gregorius went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in a lopsided win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Advice: Gregorius had a three-run triple in the Yankees' 11-run second inning. He added three more singles on the night, raising his batting average nine points with one huge game. Even with nights like Tuesday -- and Monday, when he went 3-for-4 with four RBI -- Gregorius is a defense-first shortstop who is hitting .257/.307/.354 on the year. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 10:05 pm
  • Ryan collects three RBI in lopsided victory
Brendan Ryan had two RBI doubles -- both coming in the second inning -- and finished 2-for-6 with three RBI in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Advice: The Yankees batted around in an 11-run second inning, with Ryan providing a two-run double early before capping the scoring with another RBI double later in the inning. The offensive performance was unusual for Ryan, who had just eight RBI in 49 games all of last season. Ryan is hitting a deceptive .276/.323/.517 through 11 games this year. • Altuve's first five-RBI game propels Astros
Jose Altuve finished 3-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored in the Astros' 10-5 win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Altuve drove in runs in three different innings, proving to be in the right place at the right time on several occasions. He had an RBI single in the second, a two-run single in the fourth and a two-run double in the sixth. The five-RBI game was his first in 606 career games. The second baseman is batting .305/.349/.432 with nine homers, 48 RBI, 54 runs scored and 28 steals overall. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:48 pm
  • Kendrick has 2 of Dodgers' 3 hits in a loss
Howie Kendrick went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Sonny Gray tossed a three-hit shutout, and Kendrick was responsible for two of those three hits. The second baseman entered the game 3-for-26 in his previous six games, losing nearly 30 points of OPS. He owns a .285/.333/.397 triple-slash line with seven home runs, 40 RBI, and 45 runs scored. • Correa homers, has three hits against Angels
Carlos Correa went 3-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's win over the Angels.

Advice: The homer, a solo shot in the first inning, was Correa's ninth in 42 games this season. The 20-year-old has hits in 11 of his past 12 games as he settles in at the major league level. Correa is batting .299/.350/.545 with 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and five steals to go with his nine homers. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:34 pm
  • Kang blasts game-winning homer against Twins
Jung-Ho Kang went 2-for-4 with a game-winning home run as the Pirates outlasted the Twins 8-7 on Tuesday.

Advice: Kang was hit by a pitch and scored in the sixth inning and came up with the game tied in the top of the ninth. Against Twins closer Glen Perkins, Kang launched a solo homer to give the Pirates the lead and ultimately the win. The shortstop has seven multi-hit games in his last nine contests, raising his season line to .289/.367/.426 with six homers and 32 RBI. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:16 pm

  • Blue Jays officially acquire Troy Tulowitzki
Blue Jays acquired SS Troy Tulowitzki and RHP LaTroy Hawkins from the Rockies for SS Jose Reyes and RHPs Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco.

Advice: While many expected the Blue Jays to make a big splash for their pitcher, they stunned the baseball world late Monday night by upgrading what was already the best offense in the majors. Tulowitzki has managed to stay mostly healthy this season while batting .300/.348/.471 with 12 home runs and 53 RBI over 87 games. His injury history is a concern, especially on the turf at Rogers Centre, but the 30-year-old could age better in the American League because of the ability to DH. Tulowitzki will receive a $2 million assignment bonus for being traded and his contract now includes a full no-trade clause. He's owed $94 million from 2016-2020 with a $15 million club option or $4 million buyout in 2021. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 8:06 am
  • Troy Tulowitzki traded to Jays for Jose Reyes
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins have been traded to the Blue Jays for Jose Reyes and minor leaguers.

Advice: Well, how about that for a late-night surprise? Offense certainly wasn't a need for Toronto given that they are leading baseball in runs by a wide margin, but they obviously saw an opportunity to make a strength even stronger. They're also improving their defense with the deal, as Reyes' defense has really gone south. Tulo is under contract through 2020 with a club option for 2021. Reyes might be flipped elsewhere, as dealing Tulo but then taking on Reyes' contract wouldn't mesh with the Rockies' rebuild. Colorado is reportedly set to receive Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro and one other minor leaguer in the deal. Rotoworld.com Monday, 9:32 pm
  • Gregorius homers, knocks in 4 runs in a win
Didi Gregorius went 3-for-4 with a two-run single and a two-run home run as the Yankees downed the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Gregorius tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning when he drilled a two-run home run off of Matt Harrison. He added insurance in the seventh inning with a two-run single. It's only the fifth multi-RBI game of the season for the shortstop, who has left Yankees fans pining for Derek Jeter as he's hitting .248/.297/.340 with five home runs and 25 RBI. • Cabrera (hamstring) to be activated Tuesday
Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list prior to Tuesday's game.

Francisco Lindor slugged a three-run home run in Monday's loss to the Royals, finishing 1-for-5.

Advice: The Indians had fallen behind 9-1 when Lindor brought them back in the game with a three-run home run off of Joe Blanton in the seventh inning. The 21-year-old has hit safely in six straight games and now owns a .260/.297/.377 batting line with four home runs and 15 RBI since making his major league debut on June 14. • Pads have discussed Starlin Castro with Cubs
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Padres have discussed Starlin Castro with the Cubs.

Advice: Morosi adds that the Cubs have inquired on the Padres' starters and he opines that a Castro-for-James Shields swap might make some sense. Castro has been a colossal disappointment with the Cubs this season, hitting just .233/.268/.302 with five homers. He's under contract through 2019 and the Cubs would probably love to use him as a trade chip this week to get pitching help. Rotoworld.com Monday, 3:33 pm

Red Sox acquired INF Josh Rutledge from the Angels in exchange for OF Shane Victorino and cash.

Advice: Garcia will provide depth for the White Sox bench while Emilio Bonifacio is away on bereavement. Garcia, 24, is a .179/.215/.215 career hitter at the big league level. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 10:36 am

  • Lindor smacks homer in first to set tone
Francisco Lindor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Wednesday afternoon's win over the Brewers.

Advice: The home run was Lindor's third of the season. He's hitting a relatively unimpressive .246/.284/.349 across 126 at-bats, but there's possible value to be had here in deeper AL-only formats so long as he continues to hit in the two-hole. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 3:03 pm
  • Starlin Castro sitting out on Wednesday
Starlin Castro is absent from the Cubs' lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Reds.

Advice: Addison Russell is at shortstop, with Jonathan Herrera covering second base. Castro will be back out there for the nightcap. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:03 am
  • Altuve reaches four times, scores two runs
Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: As he's done for years, Altuve served as a catalyst for the Astros offense in the win. He walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning, stole second base and scored later in the inning. He added another run and an RBI single later in the game. Altuve is now hitting .296/.342/.419 with 49 runs scored, 41 RBI and an AL-best 27 steals on the year. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:39 pm
  • Turner belts 12th home run in loss to Braves
Justin Turner hit his 12th home run of the season in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: A night after going 4-for-4 with three singles, Turner connected on a solo shot against Braves starter Alex Wood in Tuesday's contest. It ended up being his only hit on the night. The infielder continues to enjoy a breakout year in Los Angeles, as he's now hitting .322 with a .940 OPS and a career-high 12 homers. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 7:48 pm

  • Flores adds 2 hits, 2 RBI as Mets top Nats
Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI as the Mets beat the Nationals 7-2 on Tuesday.

Advice: Flores gave the Mets an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning with a single, and added the final run in their four-run ninth inning with a ground out to make it 7-2. The infielder, playing second base for the better part of three-plus weeks, has a meager .252/.285/.387 triple-slash line with 10 home runs and 40 RBI. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 7:20 pm
  • Baez (finger) nearing rehab games in AZ
Javier Baez (finger) is performing the full range of baseball activities in Arizona.

Advice: Baez should soon begin playing in games for one of the Cubs' low-level minor league affiliates -- probably one in Arizona. He's been out of commission for Triple-A Iowa since June 7 due to a fractured left ring finger. The 22-year-old infield prospect could help the Cubs by the end of season, even if it's only in a role as a bench bat. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 2:34 pm

  • Lowrie (thumb) to begin rehab games on Wed.
Jed Lowrie (thumb) is set to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Double-A Corpus Christi.

Advice: Lowrie has been taking rounds of batting practice without issue since late last week. The 31-year-old underwent surgery in April to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and Carlos Correa has since taken over at shortstop for Houston. But the switch-hitting Lowrie could work his way into playing time at the hot corner -- stealing some starts from lefty Luis Valbuena -- and he'll be a nice bench piece for the stretch run. • Rojas (illness) enters game as pinch-runner
Miguel Rojas (illness) entered Monday's game against the Diamondbacks as a pinch-runner.

Advice: Rojas, who left Sunday's game due to illness, entered in the eighth inning and remained in the game to play defense. He should be good to go moving forward. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 5:43 am

  • Tulowitzki homers as Rockies win a slugfest
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run as the Rockies took down the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Tulowitzki polished off a four-run second inning with a two-run home run off of Nick Martinez to make it a 7-0 game at the time. The shortstop has homered in back-to-back games, giving him 12 on the season with 52 RBI and a .320/.365/.502 triple-slash line. Rotoworld.com Monday, 9:21 pm
  • Turner's four-hit night goes to waste in loss
Justin Turner had four hits in as many at-bats, but the Dodgers fell to the Braves on Monday.

Advice: Turner's four hits, three of which were singles, accounted for nothing as he neither scored a run nor brought one in. The 30-year-old has showed no signs of slowing down as he's hitting an outstanding .323/.389/.545 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI. Rotoworld.com Monday, 7:40 pm
