Daniel Hudson (elbow) gave up two runs on five hits over four innings in an extended spring training game on Friday.
Advice: It's the first time since last year's Tommy John surgery that Hudson has faced hitters wearing a different uniform. The D'Backs says the righty's fastball sat in the 91-93 mph range, which is obviously a good sign. "The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now," Hudson said. Hudson will appear in another extended spring game next week and doesn't appear far off from a rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as late June if all goes well, though the big club doesn't currently have room for him in the rotation.

Wilton Lopez tossed 1 1/3 perfect relief innings in Saturday's 10-2 drubbing of the Giants.
Advice: Lopez held a 12.46 ERA on April 12 and has been working since to minimize the toll his early-season woes wrought on his earned run average. He finished his first month in Colorado with a 6.17 ERA, but has been the reliever the Rockies believed they were acquiring over the winter since, posting a 2.08 ERA over 8 2/3 innings. Interestingly, Lopez had a superb 8/0 K/BB rate during his awful April and has notched a sub-mediocre 3/3 K/BB rate in May.

Tim Lincecum's trip to Coors Field went sour Saturday night, as he allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings in a 10-2 loss.
Advice: Lincecum struck out four, walked two and surrendered a two-run homer to Wilin Rosario. The veteran has been all over the place this season, making him impossible to trust in fantasy. He's allowed no runs in three of his nine starts, but four or more in five of them. The inconsistency bears out in his numbers: Lincecum is 3-3 with a 4.70 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.

Tommy Milone earned his first win since April 15 by pinning the Royals to one run over six innings Saturday.
Advice: He scattered five hits, striking out four and walking three. Milone won his first three starts and lost his next five. It wasn't all his fault -- Oakland's offense failed to show up for any of those games, averaging a little over a run per nine innings. Milone carries a 3.47 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into a tasty matchup against the Astros next week.

Eric Stults held the Nationals to one run over eight innings to pick up a win Saturday and move to 4-3 on the season.
Advice: Stults has been great over his last four starts, lowering his ERA from 5.67 to 4.05. On Saturday, he struck out five, walked two and scattered four hits. Stults gets the Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Twins activated RHP Cole De Vries from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Advice: De Vries is over his forearm ailment, but the Twins aren't ready to add him to the rotation yet. However, with much of their starting five struggling, it might only be a matter of time before he gets a shot.

Sean Doolittle retired the Royals in order in the eighth inning Saturday, picking up his seventh hold.
Advice: Those of you in holds league already know Doolittle. Those of you in deeper formats should get acquainted with him as well, if you haven't already. Doolittle is 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 19/3 K/BB rate over 20 appearances. Doolittle surrendered a pair of solo homers in late-April. Outside of that, nobody has touched him.

Oliver Perez took the loss in Saturday's game against the Indians after he allowed a run on two hits and a walk without recording an out.
Advice: Perez had been lights out prior to last night and this is the first update we've done on him in 2013. Such is life as a middle reliever. Those of us that snickered when Seattle signed Ollie in 2012 -- each and every one of us, in other words -- have been silenced. The formerly maligned left-hander from Mexico put up a 2.12 ERA in 2012 and currently sits at 1.62 in 2013. After years spent as an overpaid source of angst for Mets fans, Perez has proved a great bargain in the Northwest.

Ryan Pressly allowed a run over two mop-up innings in Saturday's 12-5 loss against the Red Sox.
Advice: The Twins plucked Pressly from the Red Sox with the fourth pick in last winter's Rule 5 Draft. He posted a 5.38 ERA in 103 2/3 innings last season between High- and Double-A, but has been a pleasant low-leverage surprise for the Twins thus far, logging a 1.83 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 19 2/3 innings. His peripherals aren't good -- including a 13/10 K/BB rate -- and his ERA won't end anywhere close to where it is now, but owners in extremely deep AL-only leagues may want to take a look if they need an injury replacement in the 'pen.

Grant Balfour converted his eighth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday's win over the Royals.
Advice: Balfour walked a batter but was otherwise unburdened. He entered this weekend with six saves but has picked up a pair in consecutive 2-1 wins against the Royals. The typically reliable Balfour is eight-for-eight in save conversions and holds a 1.56 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.

Ervin Santana notched another quality start on Saturday but took the loss in Kansas City's 2-1 setback in Oakland.
Advice: Santana spun seven innings of two-run ball, striking out five and allowing four hits and three walks. He didn't surrender a home run, which has been perhaps the biggest reason he's turned around his career in Kansas City. After leading the league in long-balls allowed in 2012 with 39, Santana has given up just six thus far; and three of those were in his season debut. The resurgent right-hander is 3-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over eight starts.

Craig Breslow picked up his first win of the season by tossing 1 2/3 scoreless relief innings against the Twins Saturday.
Advice: Breslow missed the first five weeks of the season with shoulder inflammation and has posted a 1.35 ERA over seven appearances since his activation. The 32-year-old Yale graduate has never finished a season with an ERA higher than 3.75 and boasts a 2.97 career number. Nerds don't often fool scouts, but Breslow has made it look easy.

Neftali Feliz (elbow) is long-tossing at 120 feet.
Advice: Feliz's rehab from Tommy John surgery is going fine, although it's not yet been announced when he'll be ready to throw off a mound. We expect him to return to a major league mound late in the summer.

Tommy Hunter hurled 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Jair Jurrjens to record his first hold of 2013 in Baltimore's 10-6 loss Saturday.
Advice: Hunter finished with a 5.45 ERA in 2012 and a 4.68 ERA in 2011, mostly as a starter. He's a better bullpen fit, where he's posted a 1.54 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 18/4 K/BB rate to go with a 3-1 record and a save over 23 1/3 innings. If Hunter keeps it up, Baltimore is likely to increase his usage to higher-leverage situations.

Anibal Sanchez was rocked for six runs -- five earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Rangers.
Advice: It was a rare off outing for the right-hander, who had been ace-like all season. He coughed up nine hits and issued two walks, and the dangerous Texas offense was able to turn scoring chances into runs. Sanchez still has a 2.77 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the year and should bounce back next week against the light-hitting Twins.

Cory Luebke (elbow) has had his throwing program stopped for the second time this year in his attempt to return from Tommy John surgery.
Advice: Luebke was shut down in early March before resuming sessions of catch on April 1, and he had progressed to throwing off a mound before this latest setback. Obviously none of this bodes well for his mission to return to live major league games by the All-Star break.

Rays recalled LHP Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Durham.
Advice: It's believed Beliveau will be up solely for Sunday, as it's already been confirmed that Jake Odorizzi will be promoted to start in place of David Price on Monday. Beliveau, a lefty, has an underwhelming 4.35 ERA in 10 appearances this season with Durham.

Lance Lynn gave up four earned runs in five innings Saturday in the Cardinals' loss to the Brewers.
Advice: Lynn struggled with his command, throwing only 56 of his 89 pitches for strikes while yielding eight hits and two walks. He escaped with a no-decision only because the Cardinals lost in extra innings. Lynn will take a 6-1 record, 3.27 ERA and 1.16 WHIP into his next outing against the Dodgers. It will be a nice test.
