  • Chris Iannetta getting a day off Sunday
Chris Iannetta is not in the Angels' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It's simply a routine day off. Drew Butera is behind the plate Sunday in Iannetta's place. Rotoworld.com

  • Francisco Cervelli getting some rest Sunday
Francisco Cervelli is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.

Advice: He's just receiving a breather. Chris Stewart is behind the plate Sunday in Cervelli's place. Rotoworld.com

  • Giants recall Andrew Susac from Triple-A
Giants recalled C Andrew Susac from Triple-A Fresno.

Advice: Susac lost the backup catcher job to Hector Sanchez this spring. He probably won't be up long. Rotoworld.com

  • Perez has three hits, homer to lead Indians
Roberto Perez went 3-for-4 with a home run on Saturday, powering the Indians to a 4-2 victory over the Twins in Minnesota.

Advice: Perez took Twins starter Phil Hughes deep in the third inning to get the Indians on the board. He's being counted on to pick up the slack offensively with Yan Gomes sidelined and has responded by hitting .300/.318/.600. He's worth a look in two-catcher leagues for as long as he remains the starter. Rotoworld.com

  • Kurt Suzuki goes deep in loss to Indians
Kurt Suzuki belted his second home run of the season on Saturday but it wasn't enough for the Twins to overcome the Indians.

Advice: Suzuki tagged Indians' starter Danny Salazar for a solo blast in the seventh inning, cutting the deficit to 4-2, but that would be as close as the Twins would get. He finished the day 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .214/.313/.429 on the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Bethancourt not in Braves lineup Saturday
Christian Bethancourt is once again not in the Braves starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: It's the second straight game and fourth time in the past six that the Braves have opted to go with A.J. Pierzynski instead of the rookie backstop. Bethancourt should return to the lineup on Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Robinson Chirinos homers, doubles
Robinson Chirinos homered and doubled to lead the Rangers offense in Friday's win.

Advice: Chirinos is 4-for-8 with two homers in his last two starts after opening the season 1-for-13. He figures to have a tough time staying healthy while catching regularly for the Rangers, but until he gets hurt, he should be a decent second catcher in mixed leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Hanigan launches two-run homer vs. O's
Ryan Hanigan launched a two-run homer against the Orioles on Friday.

Advice: Hanigan's blast, which was his first home run of the season, tied the game in the fifth inning. Boston went on to win in the bottom of the ninth. Hanigan is hitting just .136 (3-for-22) so far, but he has drawn seven walks, so his on-base percentage sits at .345. The Red Sox will take it, at least until top prospect Blake Swihart is deemed ready. Rotoworld.com

  • Joseph smacks solo homer vs. Red Sox
Caleb Joseph hit a solo home run and drew a walk Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: It was far from a mammoth blast, as it traveled just 316 feet into the right field corner at Fenway Park. Shane Victorino made his best effort to catch the ball, but he came up empty-handed and the home run was held up on a replay review. Joseph is batting .370/.452/.630 through eight games, so the absence of Matt Wieters (elbow) hasn't hurt the Orioles too badly in the early going. Rotoworld.com

  • Realmuto gets third straight start over Salty
J.T. Realmuto is in the Marlins' lineup for the third straight day Friday.

Advice: Realmuto has picked up two hits -- including a double -- over seven at-bats in his first two starts. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is off to a .091/.200/.273 start at the plate and a week ago CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported that the club tried to trade him over the winter. It's hard to believe the Marlins would bench Salty at this point with him signed through 2016, but Realmuto is a nice prospect so this is definitely a situation to keep an eye on. The Marlins are also going with Ichiro Suzuki in center field over Marcell Ozuna on Friday. Rotoworld.com

  • Tucker Barnhart recalled from Triple-A
Reds recalled C Tucker Barnhart from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: He'll serve as Brayan Pena's backup for now, although Devin Mesoraco (hip) is expected to be ready soon. Barnhart batted .185 (10-for-54) with a home run last season. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 12:26 pm
  • Kyle Skipworth optioned to Triple-A
Reds optioned C Kyle Skipworth to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: He was only up for a few days and didn't see any action. Tucker Barnhart is up in his place. Rotoworld.com

  • John Jaso (wrist) plays catch without glove
John Jaso (wrist) played catch Friday without a glove on his left hand.

Advice: Rays manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that the swelling has not gone down in Jaso's wrist, thus the reason for him still not being able to wear a glove yet. He's eligible to return from the disabled list next Wednesday but seems unlikely to be ready at that time. Rotoworld.com

  • Christian Bethancourt not in lineup Friday
Christian Bethancourt is not in the Braves' lineup Friday.

Advice: He's now been benched in three of the last five games in favor of A.J. Pierzynski, who has four hits -- including two homers -- in his first 10 at-bats. Eric Young Jr. is in left field over Jonny Gomes. Rotoworld.com

  • Tony Sanchez optioned to Triple-A
Pirates optioned C Tony Sanchez to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Chris Stewart is off the DL, so there's no longer a need for Sanchez. He'll represent depth at Triple-A. Rotoworld.com

  • Chris Stewart activated from DL
Pirates activated C Chris Stewart from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Stewart got a late start to the season due to a right hamstring strain, but he played in a few rehab games with no issues. He'll back up Francisco Cervelli. Rotoworld.com

  • Jaso (wrist) not likely to return April 22
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that the swelling has not gone down in John Jaso's wrist.

Advice: Which is a good indication that Jaso will not be activated when first eligible on April 22. Jaso jammed his left wrist in the Rays' season-opener last Monday. Tampa Bay has used a carousel at DH in his absence. Rotoworld.com

  • Chirinos homers, drives in five to top Angels
Robinson Chirinos went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and a three-run double to help the Rangers beat the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Chirinos hadn't knocked in more than three runs in a game since 2011. He doubled in a pair of runs in the second inning, then hit a three-run home run off of Jose Alvarez in the sixth. Chirinos had been 1-for-16 entering the night, so Tuesday's performance will certainly help spruce up his stats. Over a larger sample size, Chirinos isn't likely to provide any value in the average or on-base percentage departments, but will almost certainly provide cheap power in two-catcher formats. • Iannetta collects two hits in loss to Rangers
Chris Iannetta went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Iannetta was the only Angels hitter with multiple hits as Rangers starter Nick Martinez kept their bats quiet most of the night. Iannetta also walked in the game, reaching base three times in total. The hits were his first since Opening Day as Iannetta is batting just .125 (3-for-24) with 10 strikeouts thus far. Rotoworld.com

  • Reds recall Kyle Skipworth from Double-A
Reds recalled C Kyle Skipworth from Double-A Pensacola.

Advice: Skipworth hit just .216/.292/.407 with 10 homers and 30 RBI in 70 games for the Marlins Triple-A team last season. He's not fantasy relevant and is unlikely to see many at-bats for the Reds. Rotoworld.com

  • Marlins recall Realmuto to majors
Marlins recalled C J.T. Realmuto from Triple-A New Orleans.

Advice: This move was expected, as Jeff Mathis just hit the disabled list with a fractured right ring finger. Realmulto will serve as backup for Jarrod Saltalamacchia until Mathis returns. He's ranked highly enough as a catching prospect that he is worth stashing in deeper fantasy formats. Rotoworld.com

  • Marlins to call up J.T. Realmuto
According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Marlins will call up C J.T. Realmuto from Triple-A New Orleans.

Advice: The expected move comes in the wake of Jeff Mathis fracturing his right ring finger. Realmuto will serve as the backup to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Last season, the 24-year-old hit .299 with eight home runs and an .830 OPS over 97 games for Double-A Jacksonville. The prospect is an interesting speculative add in NL-only leagues or deeper mixed leagues, though Mathis should be able to return by the middle of May. Rotoworld.com

  • Andrew Susac's X-rays come back clean
X-rays on Andrew Susac's right hand came back negative.

Advice: He injured the hand when he was hit by a foul tip at Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. With Brandon Belt (groin) back in action, Susac likely won't be promoted by the Giants anytime soon. Rotoworld.com

  • Christian Bethancourt sitting out Sunday

Advice: A.J. Pierzynski will catch Alex Wood. Bethancourt has three hits in his first 15 at-bats this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Iannetta out of Angels' lineup on Saturday
Chris Iannetta is not in the Angels' starting lineup on Saturday night against the Royals.

  • Rays place John Jaso (wrist) on 15-day DL
Rays placed C/DH John Jaso on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a left wrist contusion.

Advice: Jaso jammed his wrist when sliding awkwardly into second base in Monday's season-opener. The Rays had hoped he'd be able to avoid the DL, but they couldn't continue playing with a depleted bench. He should be able to return when first eligible. Rotoworld.com

  • Stewart (hamstring) set to begin rehab games
Chris Stewart (hamstring) is beginning a minor league rehab assignment Thursday at Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Stewart had already been playing in minor league games at the Pirates' spring training complex, so he shouldn't be on this rehab assignment for very long. He'll presumably take over as the Pirates' backup catcher when deemed fully healthy. Tony Sanchez has been filling that role in the early going. Rotoworld.com
