    • Luis Arraez leading off in Padres debut Saturday
Luis Arraez will serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff in his Padres’ debut against the Diamondbacks on Saturday night.

Advice: The sweet-swinging 27-year-old was hitting .299/.347/.372 with zero homers and five RBI through 148 plate appearances with the Marlins. He’ll now serve as the catalyst for a Padres’ offense that could use a boost at the top of the order. Jurickson Profar — who had been serving as the team’s leadoff hitter — will slide down to the fifth spot in the lineup on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:24 pm

    • Blake Perkins blasts two-run homer in loss
Blake Perkins went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: The Cubs were held scoreless until the seventh inning. After Oliver Dunn plated a run with a triple, Perkins added two more with a blast to right center field off of Keegan Thompson. He later drew a walk in the ninth and scored on a single by William Contreras. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting .267/.371/.444 with four homers, 18 runs scored, 13 RBI, and three steals across 105 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:00 pm

    • Clarke Schmidt fans seven over five vs. Tigers
Clarke Schmidt allowed three runs while striking out seven over five innings to get a win Saturday over the Tigers.

Advice: Schmidt allowed a leadoff homer to Riley Greene, and then the right-hander allowed a pair of runs in the fourth. In between — and an inning after — the right-hander was solid while giving up four hits and not issuing a walk. The overall result is just so-so, but Schmidt looked better than the line suggests. He’s back on the bump. He faces the Rays on Friday, and Schmidt will take a 3.50 ERA into that matchup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:47 pm
    • Picks up seventh steal
Altuve went 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Altuve had a productive day from the leadoff spot that included the go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning. He also stole his seventh bag of the season and third in his last two contests. Altuve has seven homers across 146 plate appearances and is batting .348, providing excellent production across the board. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 am

    • Punches out eight
Singer took a no-decision Friday against the Rangers after allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out eight batters through six innings. He did not issue a walk.

Advice: Although Singer turned in yet another strong outing Friday, his contributions went unrewarded as the Royals were unable to take the lead until after the 27-year-old was removed from the game, giving the win to John Schreiber instead. Singer didn't get the win, but his 2.45 ERA and 42 strikeouts through 40.1 innings on the season still give fantasy managers plenty of reason to be pleased with his performance to begin the year. • Padres officially acquire Luis Arraez from Marlins
Padres acquired Luis Arraez and cash considerations from the Marlins for OF Dillon Head, OF Jakob Marsee, 1B Nathan Martorella and RHP Woo-Suk Go.

Advice: What was announced Friday is official Saturday. Arraez will head to the Padres after hitting .299 with a 719 OPS over 137 at-bats with the Marlins in 2023, and he’s a career .324/.377/.423 hitter in his time with the Fish and the Twins. He should play everyday and hit near the top of the order, but just keep in mind his strong average doesn’t come with help in other categories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:36 am

    • Cruises to win
Gray (4-1) allowed three hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings Friday, striking out six and earning a win over the White Sox.

Advice: Gray allowed just one extra-base hit and retired the final eight batters he faced. He's been excellent since returning from a brief stint on the injured list to begin the year; Gray has given up three earned runs through 30.1 innings while producing a 38:5 K:BB. He's turned in four straight quality starts after throwing five shutout frames in his 2024 debut. Gray's next start is lined up to come at home against the Mets. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:34 pm

    • Altuve drives in run, steals base in win over M’s
Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a win Friday over the Mariners.

Advice: Altuve hit a perfect safety squeeze to knock in his 12th run of the game and give Houston a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. The steal was the seventh of the season and 300th of his career. Altuve has been sensational thus far in 2024, and is playing near — if not at — the MVP level he reached not all that long ago. • Sonny Gray blanks White Sox over seven in victory
Sonny Gray didn’t allow a run over seven innings with six strikeouts to help the Cardinals to a 3-0 victory over the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Gray was outstanding against a White Sox lineup that shouldn’t be legal. The right-hander gave up just three hits over those seven frames, and he issued one walk while throwing 65-of-94 pitches for strikes. Over his last two starts, Gray has allowed just a single earned run while striking out 15 over 13 innings. That’ll work. He’ll face the Mets next week. Rotoworld Friday, 7:45 pm
