    Advice: Goldschmidt's slow start has been the cause of much consternation for St. Louis, and it's led to him batting fifth in the last two games. He's gone 3-for-7 since the drop in the order, so it looks like the change is at least having a short-term effect. The first baseman is batting a meager .195 with a .566 OPS, two homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored over 94 plate appearances.     Helsley (2-2) earned the win Monday versus the Diamondbacks, allowing one hit and striking out one without walking a batter in a scoreless inning.

    Advice: Helsley has allowed just one unearned run over his last six appearances, though that led to a loss. He was able to back into the win Monday, keeping the game tied in the top of the ninth inning before Nolan Gorman hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame.     Advice: Isbel's homer was in the ninth inning, but the Royals weren't able to turn it into a rally. The outfielder had gone 0-for-12 across his previous four contests. He's batting .197 with a .533 OPS through 64 plate appearances while adding two homers, five RBI, three stolen bases and five runs scored.     Simpson will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair the ulnar nerve in his left elbow, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: It's expected to be around three months before Simpson will be ready to pitch in games again, so this will put him out at least until after the All-Star break. The 35-year-old hasn't had a 20-homer campaign since 2019, his final year with the Pirates, but if he can stay healthy he's well on his way to reaching that mark again.
