      Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Tuesday that Evan Carter will miss at least one month with a stress reaction in his back.

      Advice: Not great. Bochy added that Carter isn’t dealing with a stress fracture, which would’ve required a much lengthier absence, but he’s facing a lengthier absence than originally anticipated when he hit the injured list last week with a back sprain. The 21-year-old top prospect is likely going to be on the shelf until sometime after next month’s All-Star break, even in a best-case scenario.       Advice: Alvarez hit a two-run home run off Kyle Gibson in the third inning, then doubled and scored a run in the sixth. The homer was Alvarez's third in as many games, and he now has four multi-hit efforts in his past seven contests.       Advice: The home run was Alvarez’ 12th of the season. He took Kyle Gibson deep in the third inning to put the Astros on the board and later scored on an RBI single by Jake Meyers. Dating back to May 24, Mullins has produced just one hit in 20 at-bats, bringing his season-long slash line down to an abysmal .181/.225/.319 over 178 plate appearances.       Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Sunday.

      Advice: Tatis Jr. gave the Padres a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning with a run-scoring single that should have been enough to close this one out. It was his 31st RBI of the season and while the 25-year-old hasn’t truly exploded at any point this year, he could easily finish the season with 30 home runs and 20 steals, which is impressive work. If he can keep his batting average around .270, he should still put up fringe first-round value even though he hasn’t stood out as an elite fantasy player at any stretch this season.       Cedric Mullins went 0-for-4 before being lifted for a pinch-hitter Sunday versus the Rays.

      Advice: It says a lot that the Orioles hit for Mullins against a righty. The team hoped he was breaking out of his slump a couple of weeks ago, but he’s 1-for-20 with a 7/0 K/BB ratio since May 24, dropping his season line to .181/.225/.319. He’s a tough guy to drop in fantasy leagues, since he can be very valuable when he’s on (he just had six homers and six steals in April), but this is ugly right now.       Advice: Alvarez kicked off the scoring for Houston with a two-run homer in the first inning and added a solo shot in the fifth. The pair of long balls matched his total over his previous 30 games combined. Alvarez has hit safely in 13 of his past 14 games and is batting .377 (20-for-53) during that stretch, though he had only two RBI during that span before Saturday.       Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in a 5-2 win Saturday over the Twins for the Astros.

      Advice: Alvarez also drew a walk. The 26-year-old slugger took Joe Ryan deep with a runner on in the first, and did more damage against Ryan with a solo shot in the fifth. That ups Alvarez’s total to 11 roundtrippers on the year, and he’s plated 25 over the first 59 games of the season for the Astros.
