      Lopez will start on regular rest Sunday versus the Phillies for just the second time this season, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Lopez struggled in his last start Tuesday versus the Giants, allowing just two runs but walking four over five inefficient innings. Atlanta has baked in extra rest for Lopez whenever it can during the first half as the right-hander shifts from reliever to starter, but he'll take the ball on normal rest against the division-rival Phillies this weekend.       Advice: The right-hander blanked San Francisco through four innings but was far from efficient, and when he served up back-to-back solo shots to begin the fifth, Lopez got the hook after 101 pitches (57 strikes). He's walked four batters in two straight trips to the mound, while the 4.1 innings represented his shortest start of the year. Despite the recent stumbles, he still hasn't given up more than three earned runs in an outing in 2024.       Mercado (1-0) picked up the win Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.

      Advice: Mercado's 1.71 Triple-A ERA translated well into the big leagues Tuesday, as he was able to silence the Cubs' offense during his first career MLB start. The only blemish on the 25-year-old's record came via a third-inning RBI double courtesy of Cody Bellinger, but the right-hander responded by throwing back-to-back 1-2-3 innings before being pulled. With Spencer Turnbull (lat) set to miss 6-to-8 weeks and Taijuan Walker (finger) out through the All-Star break, Mercado will almost certainly be granted another start -- tentatively scheduled to come Sunday in Atlanta.       Michael Mercado allowed two hits and one earned run over five innings to pick up the win on Tuesday against the Cubs.



      Advice: Mercado made his first career start on Tuesday night and was about as good as we could have hoped for. The 25-year-old righty allowed just four baserunners on the evening, with three of those coming in the third inning. The lone run he allowed came on a double by Cody Bellinger, but Mercado did more than enough to limit the Cubs’ bats to pick up his first career win in the big leagues. With Spencer Turnbull on the 15-day IL, Mercado will have a chance to make another start or two. He’s scheduled to toe the rubber again on Sunday against the Braves.       Reynaldo López allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings while striking out six in Tuesday’s loss to the Giants.

      Advice: López was pulled after 101 pitches, as the veteran righty allowed base runners on the night, with four coming via the walk. López gave up a solo homer to Jorge Soler in the fifth inning and later saw LaMonte Wade Jr. take him deep to tie the game at 2-2 before being pulled after retiring the next batter. López has allowed two earned runs or less in his last six outings but has walked four batters in back-to-back games.       Advice: Mariners manager Scott Servais told reporters Woo will throw a more extended side session this week. The 24-year-old righty hit the injured list last week with a right hamstring strain, but the fact that he’s already throwing is a sign that he’s not going to require a lengthy absence.       Advice: Burnes was activated from the paternity list Monday after missing three games while with his expanding family, welcoming a pair of twins with his wife. With Dean Kremer (triceps) set to return from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Burnes will make his return to the mound Thursday.       Advice: Baz was removed from his outing in order to be available as a depth option for the Rays in case the team needs to play a doubleheader Wednesday or Thursday against the Royals, as inclement weather is expected in Kansas City.
