      Neris earned a save against the Brewers on Saturday, allowing one hit and issuing one walk while striking out two batters over one scoreless inning.

      Advice: Neris entered in the ninth inning with Chicago holding a two-run lead and got into a bit of hot water when two of the first three hitters he faced reach base. However, the veteran reliever bounced back to strike out the final two batters of the frame. Neris secured his 11th save of the season and recorded his third straight scoreless outing. That may have helped him steady his grip on the closer role to some extent after he blew two saves and gave up seven earned runs across 2.2 frames over three appearances between June 11 and June 17.       Kimbrel worked around two walks in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Kimbrel, who hadn't walked multiple batters in an outing since May 8, was able to pitch his way out of trouble. He's allowed two runs (one earned) while posting a 13:5 K:BB over 9.1 innings in June, converting six of his seven chances this month. Kimbrel is up to 19 saves with a 2.37 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 44:14 K:BB through 30.1 innings overall. Kimbrel has pitched three of the last four days, so he may not be available if a save situation arises Sunday. With Jacob Webb, Yennier Cano and Cionel Perez also having pitched Friday and Saturday, there could be an opportunity for Dillon Tate or Bryan Baker to get a look in a high-leverage spot.       Craig Kimbrel walked two, but didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Saturday against the Rangers.

      Advice: Kimbrel walked Leody Taveras to lead off the inning and then gave up a stolen base to the outfielder, and he then got the next two outs. He issued another free pass to Josh Smith, but he was able to get Adolis Garcia to fly out and pick up the save. Crisis averted. Kimbrel has 19 saves and a 2.37 ERA in the first half of 2024.       Hector Neris allowed two baserunners, but was able to fire a scoreless inning while picking up a save against the Brewers on Saturday.

      Advice: The Hector Neris experience is often successful, but it’s always an experience. The right-hander allowed the winning run to reach the plate after giving up a hit and a walk, but he was able to strike out pinch-hitter Tyler Black and Brice Turang to keep the runners off the board and pick up his 11th save of 2024.       Snell (groin) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to rejoin the Giants rotation after their road trip that ends July 7, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Snell threw three innings in a start with Sacramento on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old will require one more rehab appearance before being reinstated and is on track to make a start with San Francisco prior to the All-Star break.     • Blake Snell to make another rehab start Wednesday
      Blake Snell (groin) will make a third minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

      Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw pitched three innings in Friday’s latest rehab outing, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk while punching out six. Snell got up to 62 pitches (41 strikes) in that outing. If all goes well with Wednesday’s start, he would slot back into the Giants’ starting rotation for the following week.       Gilbert allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Gilbert had posted back-to-back starts of eight shutout innings, so this was a small step back. It was an improvement on his previous start versus the Twins, in which he allowed a season-high eight runs over four innings in Minnesota on May 9. Since that start, Gilbert has completed at least six frames in each of his last nine outings, earning eight quality starts in that span. He's at a stellar 2.72 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 102:21 K:BB over 112.1 innings across 17 outings this season. Gilbert's lined up for a tough matchup versus the Orioles in his next projected start.     • Logan Gilbert fires six strong in no-decision
      Logan Gilbert gave up two runs in six innings while not factoring into the decision against the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Gilbert struck out three while allowing just four hits and no walks. The right-hander saw his streak of 21 scoreless innings come to an end when Carlos Correa socked a two-run homer off the right-hander to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. Outside of that, it was another outstanding effort for the right-hander, and concludes a June that likely will see him win AL Pitcher of the Month.       Kimbrel earned a save against the Rangers on Friday, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning and did so with two strikeouts and a groundout. The veteran has rebounded from a blown save June 19 with two straight scoreless conversions.
