    • Another strong outing
Sanchez allowed one run on four hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday. He struck out three.

Advice: Sanchez has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in five of his past six outings and one or fewer in seven of his last 10. The left-hander's ERA is down to 2.71 on the year with a 1.34 WHIP and 59:21 K:BB across 12 starts (66.1 innings). Sanchez is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Red Sox next week in his next outing. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:42 pm
    • George Kirby strikes out nine in defeating A’s
George Kirby fanned nine while allowing two runs over five innings in the Mariners’ 4-3 win over the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: This wasn’t Kirby’s smoothest outing, but it was good enough to get him back on the board for the first time in a few weeks. It’s just the second time this season he’s been credited with a victory in an outing in which he’s given up a run. He’s currently 5-5 with a 4.05 ERA and a 74/7 K/BB in 73 1/3 innings. • Cristopher Sánchez spins six frames in no-decision
Cristopher Sánchez allowed one run over six innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Advice: Sánchez gave up only four hits with a third-inning ground out from Andruw Monasterio representing the lone tally against him in this one. He struck out three and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old lefty has been a model of consistency this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 12 starts so far. He’ll bring a strong 2.71 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 59/21 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings (12 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Lands on IL with groin strain
The Giants placed Snell on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left groin strain.

Advice: Snell had to depart Sunday's start versus the Yankees with the injury. He had been set to undergo an MRI, and while the results of that exam have yet to be revealed, the strain is significant enough to cost the left-hander at least a couple weeks of action. It's uncertain who will fill Snell's spot in the Giants' rotation, but one option is having Keaton Winn (forearm) skip a rehab start and return this week. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:10 pm

    • Giants place Blake Snell (groin) on 15-day IL
Giants placed LHP Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

Advice: The Giants could give Mason Black another shot while Snell is out, but they’ll get by with what they have for now. They’re off Thursday, so that will help. Snell is 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA in six starts this season. Rotoworld Monday, 3:05 pm

    • Second career Tommy John surgery
Means underwent successful Tommy John surgery Monday in Texas to repair a torn UCL in his left elbow, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Means will need 12-to-18 months to recover from the procedure, and given that he previously had the procedure in April 2022, it's reasonable to expect him to trend toward the longer end of that timetable. The veteran southpaw has now seen three straight seasons come to an early end, as he was previously held out during the Orioles' playoff run last fall when he experienced renewed soreness in the surgically repaired elbow. Even though his elbow checked out fine over the offseason, the Orioles chose to slow play Means to begin the 2024 campaign, but it wasn't long before he experienced another flareup. Means made just four starts for the Orioles prior to landing on the 15-day injured list last Thursday with a forearm strain. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:27 pm

    • John Means undergoes second Tommy John surgery
John Means underwent his second Tommy John surgery on Monday.

Advice: This wasn’t the internal brace procedure, so if Means, who will be a free agent this winter, does return next year, it won’t be until the end of the season. Means totaled just 40 1/3 innings rehabbing in the minors and 44 1/3 major league innings in between his surgeries. He had a 2.64 ERA in his eight starts for the Orioles between this year and last. • Blake Snell (groin) expected to land on 15-day IL
Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Yankees that Blake Snell is expected to land on the 15-day injured list after re-injuring his groin.

Advice: Melvin noted that Snell will undergo an MRI exam on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, but it sounds like he’s going to be shelved for a while. Snell dealt with a similar injury near the end of April and wound up missing a month’s worth of action. The 31-year-old left-hander has been an unmitigated disaster for the Giants and for fantasy managers, going 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA and 1.94 WHIP over 23 2/3 innings in six starts on the season. • Likely headed to IL
Giants manager Bob Melvin acknowledged after Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees that Snell is set to undergo an MRI on his left groin and will likely land on the 15-day injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Snell exited in the fifth inning of his start Sunday with left groin tightness, an injury that's especially concerning after he spent time on the IL earlier this season with a Grade 2 left adductor strain. The team will likely wait on the results of Snell's MRI before officially placing him on the IL, but fantasy managers should prepare for the left-hander to miss at least a couple of turns through the rotation. After winning the NL Cy Young Award as a member of the Padres in 2023, Snell has had a disastrous start to the 2024 campaign. In addition to being plagued by the lower-body injuries, Snell didn't make his season debut until April 8 due to his late signing with the Giants and has yet to reach five innings in any of his six starts while turning in ugly ratios (9.51 ERA, 1.94 WHIP).
