    • Gleyber Torres plates two as Yankees defeat Twins
Gleyber Torres smacked a two-run double on Wednesday as the Yankees triumphed over the Twins.

Advice: Torres capped off a four-run uprising off of Chris Paddack in the opening inning with his two-run double that plated Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 27-year-old infielder is slashing .231/.307/.341 with just five homers, 19 RBI and four stolen bases through his first 63 games. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Carlos Rodón strikes out nine in win over Twins
Carlos Rodón was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Twins, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He kept the Twins’ offense at bat completely through the first five frames until Carlos Santana slugged a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Twins also scratched out a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Correa later in the inning. Rodón generated 18 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night — eight of those on his heater — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, Rodón will attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 71/20 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Royals in Kansas City. • Nolan Arenado goes deep, Cardinals edge Astros
Nolan Arenado slugged a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Arenado supplied a key insurance run for the Cardinals’ bullpen with a sixth-inning solo shot off Astros starter Ronel Blanco. It was his sixth round-tripper of the season and third time he’s gone deep in his last seven contests since May 28. The 33-year-old remains stuck in one of the most challenging extended power outages of his career, but he’s shown a bit of a spark lately, and might finally be turning things around. We’ll see. • Sitting in second straight
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Since Max Muncy made his last start May 15 before landing on the injured list with an oblique strain, Hernandez has served as the Dodgers' primary option at the hot corner. However, after starting at third base in the first seven games of Muncy's absence, Hernandez's hold on an everyday role may be slipping. He'll be on the bench for the second day in a row, with Chris Taylor getting the nod at the hot corner Wednesday after Miguel Rojas occupied the position Tuesday. Hernandez's move to the bench comes while he's supplied just five hits in 37 at-bats (.135 average) over his last 13 games. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:43 pm

    • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. • Receiving rare day off
Doyle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Doyle will exit the starting nine for the first time since May 19 and just the third time all season, opening up center field for Jake Cave. The Rockies are likely just giving Doyle a breather for a day game after a night game while he's in the midst of a minor slump at the plate. Over his last five starts, Doyle has gone 3-for-15 with four strikeouts against two walks. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:14 am
    • Pops fifth homer
Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Twins.

Advice: He took Bailey Ober deep in the second inning to get the Yankees on the board, giving Torres his fifth long ball of the year. The second baseman has hit safely in five straight games and 10 of the last 11 as he shows signs of emerging from his season-long slump -- over that 11-game stretch he's slashing .297/.372/.514 with two doubles and two homers. • Slugs 14th homer
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: The first baseman took Washington closer Kyle Finnegan deep to left field in the ninth inning to give the Mets an insurance run. Alonso's racked up seven hits, including three doubles and two homers, over the last six games, and since May 7 he's slashing .279/.330/.548 in 26 contests with six of his 14 long balls and 15 of his 31 RBI on the season.
