      Romano (1-2) suffered the loss to the Tigers on Sunday, yielding three earned runs on two hits and one walk in two-thirds of an inning.

      Advice: Romano was called upon to preserve an 11-11 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning. He allowed a leadoff single and an intentional walk before surrendering a walk-off three-run home run to Matt Vierling. The 31-year-old's ERA is now up to 6.39, although he is 7-for-8 in save chances through 15.1 innings this season, and he's allowed at least one run in six of 14 outings this season.     • Scoreless streak ends in loss
      Crochet (5-5) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out 11 over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Orioles.

      Advice: Crochet was able to extend his scoreless streak to 24 innings, which began with his last two frames versus the Cardinals on May 5. It came to a close when Adley Rutschman took him deep in the sixth inning of Sunday's contest, and that was enough to snap Crochet's four-start winning streak as well. On the bright side, he earned a fifth straight quality start and reached double-digit strikeouts for the third time this year.     • Garrett Crochet takes tough luck loss on Sunday
      Garrett Crochet allowed two runs on three hits over six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

      Advice: Crochet struck out 11 and walked just one, but the two-run homer he allowed to Adley Rutschman in the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the game. The left-hander tied the Orioles up all day, getting 18 whiffs for a 38 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. He now has a 3.68 ERA on the season with 85 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings. Anybody who dropped him after his poor three-start stretch against the Twins, Phillies, and Reds in mid-April is probably kicking themselves now as Crochet has allowed just five total earned runs in six starts since then.     • Sean Manaea solid across five innings
      Sean Manaea allowed two earned runs in five innings on Sunday against the Giants. He struck out six and walked one in a no-decision.

      Advice: Both of Manaea’s runs were incredibly frustrating: an errant pick-off by catcher Tomás Nido to third allowed Matt Chapman to come home and then nine-hitter Brett Wisely hit the third home run of his career. Still, Manaea continued what’s been a great start to the season despite an inability to pitch deep into games. The Giants swung and missed at his sinker 10 times on Sunday, the most whiffs that pitch has gotten in any game for Manaea this season.     • Jordan Romano gives up three-run homer in loss
      Jordan Romano gave up a three-run homer to Matt Vierling with two outs in the ninth to take a loss Sunday against the Tigers.

      Advice: Romano came into a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, so one run would have ended this. Romano, though, wanted to make it special. The Jays busted out offensively for one of the few times this year, only to lose 14-11. Romano is still 7-for-8 saving games and isn’t in any danger of losing his job, even if Yimi García has looked far better this season. Of course, García also had his first big misstep today, giving up two runs in the eighth to take a blown save. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm
       
    • Blows another save Saturday
      Diaz gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Saturday, blowing his fourth save of the season in a 7-2 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

      Advice: After the right-hander tossed a scoreless inning and recorded a hold Friday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza gave Diaz another shot at closing with the team clinging to a 2-1 lead. He couldn't get the job done, giving up two singles with a stolen base in between to tie the game before Sean Reid-Foley and Josh Walker combined for a disastrous 10th inning. Diaz has blown three straight save chances and four of five since May 5, stumbling to an 11.05 ERA in 7.1 innings over that stretch despite an 11:3 K:BB. Diaz last had struggles like this in 2019 and was eventually able to find his form again, but the Mets will be hard-pressed to use him in high-leverage spots until he shows some consistency.     • Battling knee cramps
      Lorenzen left his start Saturday versus the Twins due to cramping in his knee, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Manager Bruce Bochy said Lorenzen attempted to pitch through his cramping, but the skipper didn't want to risk another injury to an already-depleted Rangers rotation. Lorenzen finished with one earned run allowed on three hits and three walks while striking out four batters over six innings of work. Given his willingness to play through his injury, there's a good chance he will make his next start -- tentatively scheduled for next Saturday against the Marlins -- though the Rangers will keep an eye on his knee.       Edwin Díaz allowed one run with one strikeout in the ninth inning to blow the save chance against the Giants on Saturday.

      Advice: After Díaz had struck out two batters in a scoreless inning on Friday, he got the save chance on Saturday against the Giants. Asked to close it out with a one-run lead, he surrendered two hits to tie the game, blowing the save chance. The 30-year-old right-hander is having a rough season after missing the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 20 frames.     • Exits with apparent injury
      Lorenzen was removed from Saturday's game against the Twins due to an apparent injury, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Lorenzen took the mound in preparation to begin the seventh inning, but he was visited by a trainer before exiting the game. He did a good amount of walking around the mound, suggesting that he may have tweaked something in one of his legs, though the Rangers should provide an official update on his injury status in the near future.
