    • Short start versus Marlins
Crochet allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins.

Advice: Crochet failed to complete five innings for the first time since April 24. He wasn't efficient Saturday, requiring 93 pitches (65 strikes) to get through his four frames, though he did a decent job of limiting the damage. It's a rare misstep for the southpaw, who is now at a 3.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 146:23 K:BB over 105.1 innings through 19 starts this season. Crochet is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 pm

    • Gore allows five runs in no-decision Saturday
Mackenzie Gore allowed five runs in 3 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Nationals’ 14-6 victory over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Gore gave up six hits, walked five and struck out five. The Nationals led 9-0 after two innings and Gore still couldn’t complete the necessary five innings to get the win. He’s allowed five runs in two of his last three starts and has a 3.83 ERA on the year. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mets on the road next week.

    • Lynn hit hard for 11 runs, three homers in loss
Lance Lynn allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in 2 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Lynn gave up nine hits, walked four and struck out two. Lynn had won back-to-back starts and seemed to be putting together a nice season before it all came crashing down against the Nationals. He allowed three home runs and looked more like he did last year when he had a 5.73 ERA and allowed 44 home runs. Lynn’s ERA increased nearly a full run from 3.59 to 4.48 with this outing. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs at home next weekend.

    • Diaz picks up eighth save against Pirates Saturday
Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Diaz slammed the door on the Pirates to preserve a 5-2 victory for New York. The save was his eighth of the season and first since returning from a 10-game suspension for using an illegal foreign substance. The Mets had the league’s worst bullpen ERA while he was out. The team and fantasy managers are happy to see him back out there. Rotoworld Today, 4:32 pm
    • Garrett Crochet goes four innings in start vs. MIA
Garrett Crochet allows three runs in four innings against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Much has been made of Crochet being on a limited pitch count in his first year as a starter, but he likely wouldn’t have gone deep even without said limit. On top of giving up his three runs, he needed 93 pitches to get through those four innings while walking three and striking out five. Crochet has been a heck of a find in 2024, but there’s likely to be an awful lot of three-to-five inning starts in the second half of the campaign. Keep that risk in mind. • Getting breather against LHP
Gimenez isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Advice: After going 3-for-3 with an RBI during Friday's loss, Gimenez will step out of the lineup Saturday against left-handed starter Kyle Harrison. Angel Martinez will fill the opening at second base and bat second. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

    • White Sox plan to limit Garrett Crochet’s workload
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters Saturday that Garrett Crochet will likely have a limited pitch count in his final start prior to the All-Star break.

Advice: Crochet has been the biggest name floated as a possible trade candidate in the coming weeks and it’s going to take a considerable haul to meet Chicago’s asking price. The 25-year-old southpaw has managed to stay healthy and finally put everything together in a stellar first-half breakthrough, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the White Sox are going to limit his workload leading up to the trade deadline in a few weeks. • Franciso Alvarez out Saturday with elbow soreness
Francisco Alvarez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Pirates due to left elbow soreness.

Advice: Alvarez took a 99-mph fastball from Pirates starter Paul Skenes off his left elbow during Friday’s showdown, so it makes sense that he’s going to get some extra time to rest and recover. It’ll be Luis Torrens handling the catching duties on Saturday afternoon in his place. The 22-year-old backstop is probably fine, but it’s something to keep an eye on over the rest of the weekend. • Three hits in loss
Gimenez went 3-for-3 with one RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Gimenez's RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, which was the last run of the game. The second baseman has found some consistency at the plate, going 10-for-31 (.323) over his last eight games, but he has just two extra-base hits in that span. For the year, he's at a .252/.307/.344 slash line with five homers, 14 stolen bases, 41 RBI, 42 runs scored, 12 doubles and one triple over 80 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 10:26 am
