      Advice: Semien was back in the lineup after he sat out Wednesday's game, breaking a streak of 349 consecutive regular-season starts. As it turns out, Semien was dealing with the residual effects of a collision with teammate Adolis Garcia, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.       Falter came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The southpaw left the game with the Pirates nursing a 1-0 lead, but the game didn't end up getting decided until the 14th. Falter tossed 56 of 81 pitches for strikes in his fourth straight quality start and sixth of the season. The former Phillie has become a surprisingly reliable rotation option in 2024.       Marcus Semien singled on Friday in his return to the Rangers’ lineup.

      Advice: Semien was held out of the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks due to some lingering general soreness following a collision with teammate Adolis García earlier this month.       Chas McCormick fanned all three times he was up Friday versus the Twins.

      Advice: The Astros have decided that José Abreu’s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormick’s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season.       Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a win Friday against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Tovar gave the Rockies a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth off Walker Buehler. The shortstop has homered eight times in 2024 with five of them coming in May.       Bailey Falter pitched a scoreless six innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday. He struck out five, walked two, and allowed just two hits.

      Advice: Falter just keeps going. 79% of his pitches in this start were either fastballs or sinkers and the Blue Jays were completely helpless, reaching base just four times against him. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with Falter, but it hasn’t as the league can’t figure out how to square him up.
