    Springer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Astros.

    Advice: The veteran outfielder extended his hitting streak to six games while pilfering his ninth bag of the year in nine attempts. Springer is batting .550 (11-for-20) with two doubles, three homers, four runs and 10 RBI during his heater, but he still has a long way to go climb out of his early-season hole -- his .641 OPS is well below his .824 career mark.     Winker is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

    Advice: Winker is poised to become the Nationals' primary designated hitter after the club designated Eddie Rosario for assignment and called up James Wood from Triple-A Rochester to play left field on an everyday basis. The lefty-hitting Winker will begin the four-game series with the Mets on the bench, however, with New York sending left-hander David Peterson to the mound.   • Gallen’s start moved up to face Dodgers
    The Diamondbacks are moving up Zac Gallen’s next start to Thursday against the Dodgers.

    Advice: The Arizona Diamondbacks want to get Gallen pitching on every fifth day until the All-Star break, which means he will now face the Dodgers instead of the Padres on Friday as was originally planned. Instead, Slade Cecconi will be moved back to take that start. It’s obviously not great news for fantasy leagues, but the Dodgers have some injuries in their lineup, and Gallen is talented enough that you’re probably starting him regardless of opponent.     Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two additional RBI in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.

    Advice: Vaughn tied the game in the seventh inning with an RBI walk before knotting the game up in the 10th inning with a sacrifice fly.     Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and three RBI against the Rockies on Sunday.



    Advice: Vaughn’s home run was his 10th of the year. He hit a solo shot off Kyle Freeland in the fourth inning to bring the White Sox within a run, walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to tie the game and hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to tie the game. Vaughn is 34-for-106 (.320) with six home runs and 20 RBI over his last 27 games. He’s hitting .244 with a .693 OPS and 39 RBI on the season.

  • Dazzles with 10 Ks
    Lugo (11-2) picked up the win Sunday against Cleveland, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out 10 over six scoreless innings.

    Advice: Lugo was dominant Sunday, throwing 66 of his 93 pitches for strikes en route to 10 strikeouts. The 34-year-old logged his fourth consecutive quality start and his 14th of the season, tied for first in MLB. Over his past four starts, the right-hander has registered a robust 1.46 ERA along with a 1.01 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 24.2 innings.   • Rounding into form
    Cole (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits, a walk and two hit batsmen over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out six.

    Advice: Cole continues to struggle with his command as he rounds into form following a two-plus month stint on the IL with a nerve irritation in his elbow, but Sunday's performance represented a major step in the right direction. After walking four and allowing four homers in his previous start, Cole allowed a single run in the third, then struck out three of the last six batters he faced as he sent the Blue Jays down in order in the fourth and fifth innings to close out his day. The five innings pitched, 90 pitches thrown, one run allowed and six strikeouts each represented a season-best total for Cole, who continues to inch his way back toward his normal workload.
