    • Checks boxes in bullpen session
Eflin (back) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Sunday's session was Eflin's second bullpen in the last four days. He threw two simulated innings and came away feeling good. There hasn't been an official date set for his return, but Eflin said he's "checked the boxes" in his recovery and could return as early as June 5 against Miami. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:23 pm

    • Joining Sunday's lineup
Adames is starting at shortstop and batting cleanup Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: Both Adames and William Contreras were scheduled to receive their first days off of the season Sunday, but they were apparently able to lobby their way into the starting nine. Over the past 11 games, Adames is hitting .372 with six doubles, two homers, 13 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:32 am

    • Adames, Contreras inserted back into lineup
Willy Adames is hitting fourth and playing shortstop Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: Both Adames and William Contreras were originally scheduled to get their first day off of the season. Nope. The new lineup has Adames in his usual spot at shortstop, and Contreras is hitting second and catching. Kinda weird, but it keeps the streak going for both. Andruw Monasterio and Oliver Dunn were scratched from the lineup, but this does not appear to be injury related. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:25 am

    • Goes deep Saturday
Santander went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Rays.

Advice: Santander has started to look more like himself, going 9-for-32 (.281) with three homers over his last nine contests. For the year, he's slashing .218/.300/.440 with 10 homers, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases. Santander has been plagued by a .224 BABIP this year, so it's no surprise his overall numbers are down, but it's a reason for optimism that he'll be able to turn things around. • Adames, Contreras both get first day of season off
Willy Adames is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: For the first time all season, Adames will get day off. This is also true for William Contreras, as the catcher/backstop is getting a chance to enjoy a game from the bench for the first time. In Adames’ place, the Brewers will give a start at shortstop to Joey Ortiz, while Andruw Monastario is the starting designated hitter with Gary Sanchez behind the plate. • Receiving first day off
Adames is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Adames started the first 58 games of the season at shortstop for the Brewers but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Chicago. The 28-year-old has carried a hot bat over the past 11 contests with two homers, 13 RBI and a 1.100 OPS in 43 at-bats. Joey Ortiz will shift to shortstop while Oliver Dunn receives a start at third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:48 am

    • Good to go Sunday
Gurriel (illness) will start in left field and bat third Sunday against the Mets.

Advice: The veteran outfielder was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to flu-like symptoms, but he's back in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale in Queens. Gurriel had a rough time at the plate in May and finished the month with a .213/.245/.287 slash line in 25 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:48 am
    • Shaky in Saturday's loss
Kikuchi (2-5) took the loss Saturday as the Blue Jays fell 8-1 to the Pirates, coughing up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Pittsburgh jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and while Kikuchi was able to avoid an early exit, he still wound up putting extra pressure on a Toronto bullpen that had already been taxed by a 14-inning game Friday. The southpaw left the mound after 89 pitches (61 strikes), and he's been tagged for 10 earned runs in 8.1 frames over his last two starts -- a far cry from the prior six weeks, during which he delivered six quality starts in eight outings with a 2.61 ERA. Kikuchi will look to rebound when he next takes the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Orioles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:18 am

    • Contributes grand slam in victory
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a triple in Saturday's 7-5 win against Cincinnati.

Advice: The Cubs fell behind by four runs early but tied the game with one stroke of the bat on Suzuki's second-inning grand slam. It was his first career grand slam and sixth homer of the campaign. Suzuki has hit safely in nine straight games and is batting .324 (12-for-37) with two homers, seven RBI and a stolen base during that span. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:26 pm
