      Gray (7-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Phillies, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 10 over five innings.

      Advice: Gray reached double-digit strikeouts for the second time in 10 starts this year, but he received little run support after a shaky first inning. The right-hander has allowed at least four runs in three of his last five outings. For the season, he's at a 3.00 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB over 57 innings.     • Sent down after poor start
      Detmers (3-6) took the loss Saturday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after the start.

      Advice: Detmers started the season as one of the Angels' top starters and garnered wins in each of his first three starts, striking out 26 batters with two runs allowed across 17.1 innings. However, he hasn't gotten in the win column since. Outside of a decent 8.9 K/9 across his last 40.1 innings, nothing has been working for Detmers lately, as he's allowed 10 long balls and 20 walks over that stretch. The 24-year-old was a reliable arm for Los Angeles the past two seasons and it's possible that a Triple-A stint will help the southpaw regain some confidence and find his previous form.       Angels optioned LHP Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake.

      Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw was hit hard again in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners — giving up five runs over 3 2/3 innings — and that was apparently the last straw. Detmers has posted a miserable 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 70/27 K/BB ratio over 63 innings through 12 starts on the season. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level before hopefully rejoining the Angels’ rotation later in the season.     • Miller strikes out nine in win Saturday
      Bryce Miller threw six shutout innings and picked up the win in the Mariners’ 9-0 victory over the Angels on Saturday.

      Advice: The win was Miller’s fifth of the season. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out nine. Miller’s ERA is now 3.18 on the season. After losing three straight decisions, he’s now won his last two starts. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next week. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:25 pm

      Sonny Gray allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss in the Cardinals’ 6-1 loss against the Phillies on Saturday.

      Advice: Gray gave up five hits, walked three and struck out 10. The Phillies jumped on him early scoring three runs in the first inning. Gray was mostly in charge the rest of the way allowing only one more run and recording 10 punch outs. His 77 strikeouts this season put him inside the top 15 for starting pitchers in all off baseball. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.     • Better vs. Orioles
      Civale didn't factor into the decision Friday against Baltimore, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Civale was sharp Friday, blanking the Orioles for five innings before he was ultimately charged with a lone run in the sixth. The 28-year-old Civale has been pitching better of late, allowing just three runs over 10.1 innings in his last two starts after struggling to an 8.48 ERA over his previous six outings. Overall, he's 2-4 on the year with a 5.37 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 60:18 K:BB across 62 innings. Civale's currently lined up for a rematch with Baltimore at home in his next start.     • Zac Gallen diagnosed with Grade 1 hamstring strain
      Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday night that Zac Gallen was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.

      Advice: That’s obviously good news, as Grade 1 is the least severe of the strains. The 28-year-old hurler dealt with a similar injury back in 2021 and wound up missing the minimum 15 days of action. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that he’ll face a similar timeline this time as well and that he’ll be able to return to the starting rotation in mid-June when he’s eligible. Rotoworld Friday, 8:14 pm

    • Aaron Civale allows one run in no-decision
      Aaron Civale pitched 5 1/3 innings on Friday against the Orioles and allowed one earned run. He struck out three and walked one.

      Advice: Civale has simplified his approach of late. This was his seventh consecutive start throwing his cutter at least 30% of the time and the third time in four starts where he’s thrown it 40% of the time. The final results were solid here against one of the best offenses in baseball, but Civale induced just six swings and misses while the Orioles hit 10 balls hard. He remains a risky streamer until he can figure out his secondary pitches. Rotoworld Friday, 7:25 pm
