  • Kirby Yates earns eighth save vs. D-Backs
    Kirby Yates earned his eighth save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Yates had to tightrope out of danger to earn the save in this one. The righty allowed a two-out walk to Eugenio Suárez only to see a single by Gabriel Moreno move Suárez into scoring position. Fortunately for Yates, a strikeout of Kevin Newman would end the game and secure the win for the Rangers, who have now won back-to-back games after dropping their previous six.   • Registers 11th save
    Munoz earned a save against the Astros on Monday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work.

    Advice: Munoz had just a one-run lead to work with when he came into the game in the ninth inning, but he made things look easy with a perfect frame. The right-hander now was nine straight successful save conversions since blowing his lone save of the season against Colorado on April 21.   • Andrés Muñoz gets 11th save with perfect ninth
    Andrés Muñoz set down the Astros in order in the ninth for his 11th save Monday.

    Advice: Muñoz struck out two of the three batters he faced. After picking up holds in three of his first seven appearances, Muñoz has spent the last month and a half only being used in games he had a chance of finishing, earning nine saves in the process. Rotoworld Monday, 9:31 pm

    Foley was charged with the blown save Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing three earned runs on two hits and one walk in 0.2 innings of work.

    Advice: The right-hander was called upon with one out in the eighth inning and two runners on base. He allowed a single and a walk before Daulton Varsho took him deep to give the Blue Jays a two run lead. Despite the rocky appearance, Foley should remain the Tigers' closer for the time being.   • Jason Foley takes blown save in eighth inning
    Jason Foley took a blown save after giving up three runs in the eighth Sunday against the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Foley was called into a 9-6 game with two on and one out in the eighth. He quickly retired Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who had four hits on the day, but he went on to five up a two-run single to Bo Bichette, and after it looked like he might escape from there, he surrendered a three-run homer on an 0-2 pitch to Daulton Varsho. Foley’s stuff has declined since the beginning of the year, though this is just the second time it’s cost him. If he’s still the favorite for saves in Detroit for now, he’s definitely encouraged A.J. Hinch to ramp up the mixing and matching. At this point, no one else in the Tigers pen stands out enough to warrant a pickup in shallow leagues. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm

    Diaz gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Saturday, blowing his fourth save of the season in a 7-2 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

    Advice: After the right-hander tossed a scoreless inning and recorded a hold Friday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza gave Diaz another shot at closing with the team clinging to a 2-1 lead. He couldn't get the job done, giving up two singles with a stolen base in between to tie the game before Sean Reid-Foley and Josh Walker combined for a disastrous 10th inning. Diaz has blown three straight save chances and four of five since May 5, stumbling to an 11.05 ERA in 7.1 innings over that stretch despite an 11:3 K:BB. Diaz last had struggles like this in 2019 and was eventually able to find his form again, but the Mets will be hard-pressed to use him in high-leverage spots until he shows some consistency.   • Edwin Díaz charged with fourth blown save Saturday
    Edwin Díaz allowed one run with one strikeout in the ninth inning to blow the save chance against the Giants on Saturday.

    Advice: After Díaz had struck out two batters in a scoreless inning on Friday, he got the save chance on Saturday against the Giants. Asked to close it out with a one-run lead, he surrendered two hits to tie the game, blowing the save chance. The 30-year-old right-hander is having a rough season after missing the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 20 frames.   • Edwin Díaz (sort of) gets vote of confidence
    Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Saturday that Edwin Díaz is “one of the options” (to close) moving forward.

    Advice: He’s our closer,” Mendoza added. “Even if he’s going through it right now.” He also elaborated that they’ll “piece it together” moving forward in the ninth inning. It’s a bit of a confusing message and isn’t exactly the vote of confidence fantasy managers are hoping to hear. It certainly sounds like Díaz will get some save opportunities in the near future, but Reed Garrett, Adam Ottavino and Jorge López might also still be in the mix. What a mess.   • Stumbles against Brewers
    Crawford (2-3) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings as the Red Sox fell 7-2 to the Brewers. He struck out four.

    Advice: It was the worst performance of the season for the right-hander, who failed to complete five innings for the first time since April 5 and got tagged for more than three earned runs for just the second time in 11 starts. Crawford will take a 2.89 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB through 62.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:10 am
