    • Continues early-season success
Cowser went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Angels in a 4-2 win Monday.

Advice: Cowser accounted for Baltimore's final run with a seventh-inning solo shot off Reid Detmers. It was the young slugger's sixth long ball of the campaign and his second in as many games. Cowser looked lost facing major-league batting for the first time last season, posting a .115/.286/.148 slash line with a 28.6 percent strikeout rate over 77 plate appearances. He's turned things around dramatically to start this season, however, recording a .364/.400/.800 slash line along with 12 extra-base hits, 10 runs, 17 RBI and three thefts through 60 plate appearances. • Colton Cowser gets start versus lefty, homers
Colton Cowser homered in a second straight game Monday against the Angels.

Advice: Since the Orioles were facing a lefty, Cowser might have been on the bench for this one had Austin Hays been healthy. As is, he made his second start versus a southpaw and hit his second homer off one when he took Reid Detmers deep in the seventh. He’s at .364/.400/.800 for the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:44 pm
    • Picks up save
Romano allowed a run on one hit in one inning Monday. He struck out one batter and earned a save over Kansas City.

Advice: Romano coughed up a solo homer to Kyle Isbel but still finished off the 5-3 victory. Romano has converted each of his three save chances since returning from the injured list April 16. Through four appearances, he's given up two runs but has yet to walk a batter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:03 pm
    • Jared Jones shines with seven strikeouts
Jared Jones punched out seven batters and allowed just one earned run in six innings against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: Jones put together another spectacular performance as he retired the first eight batters he faced before giving up his first hit of the evening. The 22-year-old hurler has thrown at least seven strikeouts in all five of his starts this season. He’s now struck out 39 batters and allowed just four walks in his 29 innings pitched this season and making his case for a sneaky NL Rookie of the Year candidate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:33 pm

    • Shines bright in victory
Jones (2-2) earned the win Monday against the Brewers, allowing one run, four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Jones continued the impressive start to his career Monday night, striking out seven Brewers by generating an astounding 25 whiffs. The 22-year-old rookie has been electric to start the season, tossing a 2.79 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB over 29 innings. The only question about Jones at this point appears to be how many innings the Pirates will let him throw this year. His next start is scheduled on the road against the Giants. • Jordan Romano allows homer, still gets third save
Jordan Romano allowed one run in the ninth inning on Monday against the Royals, but still managed to hold on for his third save of the season.

Advice: Romano got the call to guard a three-run advantage in the final frame and made things a bit interesting by giving up a two-out solo shot to Kyle Isbel before preserving the victory. The 31-year-old righty has converted all three of his save opportunities for Toronto since returning from a season-opening stint on the injured list due to right elbow inflammation. • No-decision despite seven scoreless
Rodon did not factor into the decision, allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings during Monday's 2-0 loss to the Athletics. He struck out four.

Advice: Rodon was mired in a pitcher's duel with Oakland's JP Sears and neither blinked, leaving each with a tough luck no-decision. Rodon managed seven innings with 92 pitches, though he threw first-pitch strikes to only nine of the 25 batters he faced. The continued control issues that resulted in his fifth consecutive start with multiple walks was the only negative in what served as a rebound for Rodon, who lasted only four innings during his last start against Toronto. The 31-year-old lefty will carry a 2.70 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:33 pm
    • Available off bench Monday
Alexander (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals but said he will be available off the bench, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Alexander's early exit in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants was attributed to a right hamstring cramp, and the Diamondbacks don't seem to believe the rookie is dealing with anything significant a day later. He noted that he's not dealing with any structural damage, but because Alexander is still experiencing some discomfort in the hamstring, he'll get a day off Monday to continue healing. Kevin Newman will pick up the start at shortstop in Alexander's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:31 pm

    • Blaze Alexander out of Monday’s lineup
Blaze Alexander (hamstring) is not in Monday’s lineup against the Cardinals.

Advice: Alexander exited Sunday’s game with a right hamstring cramp, and he’ll get a breather in this one. Watch his status in the next day or so. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop duties Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:07 pm
