      Advice: Fairbanks entered the game in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Red Sox order and needed only seven pitches to get through the frame. While effective, his usage was concerning given that he had pitched nearly exclusively as a traditional closer early in the season. It's unclear whether manager Kevin Cash might continue to mix and match the back end of his bullpen, but Fairbanks could lose save opportunities moving forward.       Sewald worked a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: The right-hander needed only eight pitches (four strikes) to get the job done. Sewald has been his usual effective self since making his season debut May 7, giving up just one run with a 4:1 K:BB in his first four innings, and he has a firm hold on the closer role for Arizona.       Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a walk against the Giants on Wednesday.

      Advice: Freeman drew a walk in the third inning, then knocked a base hit in the fifth. He reached for a third time with a single to lead off the eighth and came around to score on a single and a sacrifice fly.       Doyle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Wednesday in an 8-0 victory against San Diego.

      Advice: Doyle's second-inning solo shot put Colorado on the board, and he crossed the plate again in the third following a one-out walk. The center fielder has reached base safely in eight straight contests and is batting .333 (9-for-27) with two homers, five RBI, nine runs and four stolen bases over that stretch.       Brenton Doyle clobbered a two-run homer on Wednesday, helping to power the Rockies to victory over the Padres in San Diego.

      Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 431-foot (108.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Michael King in the top half of the second inning. He also worked a walk in the third inning and raced around to score on a two-run single by Jacob Stallings.       Jurickson Profar singled and stole a base on Wednesday afternoon as the Padres were shut out by the Rockies.

      Advice: Profar smacked a leadoff single off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning and swiped second base, but the Padres couldn’t cash him in from there.       Paul Sewald tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Reds to collect his second save of the season.

      Advice: Sewald got the call to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. put Arizona ahead in the top of the frame with a two-out RBI double. He got Mike Ford to ground out before coaxing a harmless pop up from Spencer Steer and a fly out from Jeimer Candelario to end the contest. The 33-year-old veteran stopper has converted both of his save chances to go along with a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 4/1 K/BB ratio across four innings (four appearances) since returning from the injured list back on May 7.
