    • MacKenzie Gore denied win after strong showing
      MacKenzie Gore allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings and struck out eight Monday against the Mets.

      Advice: Gore was at 104 pitches, so it’s kind or understandable that he was pulled in the sixth. Still, he seemed to be very much in control at that point. He’d given up just a soft single before rebounding to retire the next two batters in the sixth. The Nationals pulled him with a 2-0 lead in favor of Derek Law, and the Mets, aided by a CJ Abrams error, went on to score three runs in the frame. That Gore didn’t get a win will probably save the Nationals about $100,000 in arbitration this winter, so they have that going for them. Rotoworld Monday, 7:32 pm
       
    • Fans eight in no-decision
      Gore did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: The Washington southpaw created an incredible 21 whiffs to collect his eight punchouts, and he left the game with the Nationals ahead 2-0 only to watch Derek Law immediately cough up the lead. This was a bounce-back performance for Gore as he struggled in five June starts with a 5.13 ERA across 26.1 innings. The 25-year-old's season ERA now stands at 3.47 with 107:29 K:BB over 90.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next outing against the Cardinals at home this weekend.     • Posts quality start Sunday
      Pfaadt allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings Sunday against the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.

      Advice: Pfaadt carried a shutout into the fifth inning before serving up a solo home run to Zack Gelof to tie the game at 1-1. That was the lone mark against him, though it was enough to cost him a chance at the win after the Diamondbacks didn't take the lead back until the bottom of the seventh. Sunday was the third time in June Pfaadt punched out eight batters, but it came on the heels of consecutive starts in which he combined for just two strikeouts in 12.2 innings. Length has been a strength for Pfaadt, as he's gone at least six innings in 13 of his last 15 starts.       Grene (5-4) allowed a run on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Greene kept St. Louis off the board until Alec Burleson knocked an RBI single in the fifth inning. While that was the only run charged against Greene, Cincinnati was shut out, leaving him with the tough-luck loss. While he needed 95 pitches to get through 4.2 frames, he managed to force 16 swinging strikes. Greene has failed to complete five innings in two straight outings and has just one quality start over his last six appearances.       Brandon Pfaadt recorded eight strikeouts and yielded one run over six innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Athletics.

      Advice: Pfaadt carried a shutout into the fifth inning on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field before coughing up a solo shot to Zack Gelof, which represented the lone tally against him in a low-scoring affair. He generated 13 swinging strikes, utilizing his entire five-pitch arsenal in this one, and finished with a near-elite 37 percent CSW. It was the type of outing fantasy managers have been expecting more consistently this season from the 25-year-old hurler on the heels of last year’s stellar postseason run.     • Greene allows one run in loss to Cardinals Sunday
      Hunter Greene allowed one run in 4 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Cardinals on Sunday.



      Advice: Greene gave up four hits, walked two and struck out six. It was certainly better than his last start where he allowed six runs, but the Cardinals worked up his pitch count and he was unable to complete even five innings. Greene has a 3.70 ERA and 4.29 xFIP on the season. The 24-year-old right-hander is set to face the Tigers at home next weekend.

    • No-decision against former club
      Stroman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 16-5 rout of the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander made his big-league debut with the Jays in 2014 and had trouble keeping his composure in his return to Toronto, getting the hook after 88 pitches (52 strikes) and not sticking around long enough to benefit from a season-best offensive explosion by the Yankees. Stroman completed six innings only once in five June starts, but on the year he still sports a 3.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 70:43 K:BB through 95.2 innings.     • Marcus Stroman yanked in fifth inning
      Marcus Stroman allowed three earned runs across 4 1/3 innings on Friday against the Blue Jays. He struck out three, walked three in a no-decision.

      Advice: Stroman labored through two very long innings against the Blue Jays. He could not put them away despite not allowing much hard contact and many long-at bats drove his pitch count up. Stroman’s strikeouts have sunk this year while he’s allowing more walks showing diminished velocity overall. His 3.29 ERA may be a bit of a mirage. Rotoworld Friday, 7:37 pm

      Sanchez (6-3) earned the win against the Marlins on Friday, allowing three hits and no walks over nine scoreless innings while striking out nine.

      Advice: Sanchez was dominant, allowing only singles and generating 16 swinging strikes on 101 pitches in his first career complete-game shutout. Since June 17, the southpaw has won three straight contests and surrendered just one earned run over 23 innings with an 18:1 K:BB. The 27-year-old owns a 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB through 93.1 innings in 2024 and will look to stay hot against the Cubs next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:07 pm
