  • Struck by comebacker
    Ginkel was hit in the left leg by a comebacker during Saturday's game against the Mets and was removed from the game, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. He threw one perfect inning before the incident.

    Advice: Ginkel was the first arm out of the bullpen for the Diamondbacks on Saturday, replacing Slade Cecconi late in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old retired the first two batters he faced before getting hit by a 98 MPH comebacker from Brandon Nimmo, who was still thrown out at first. Bryce Jarvis replaced Ginkel on the mound.   • Trevor Megill (elbow) returns to action Saturday
    Trevor Megill (elbow) returned to action on Saturday and looked no worse for the wear, striking out all three batters that he faced in a scoreless inning against the White Sox.

    Advice: It wasn’t a save chance, as it was the seventh inning of a game where the Brewers trailed 3-1, but it was nice to see Megill look as dominant as ever after taking a scary line drive off of his arm during Monday’s game.   • Quinn Priester set to start for Pirates on Sunday
    Pirates’ manager Derek Shelton confirmed on Saturday that right-hander Quinn Priester will start Sunday’s series finale against the Blue Jays.

    Advice: As expected, he’ll take the place of the injured Martin Perez (groin) in the Bucs’ rotation. Priester has made five starts already for the Pirates this season, posting a 4.33 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 17/10 K/BB ratio over 27 frames. He’s not a recommended streaming option on Sunday.     Luis Ortiz picked up the first save of his big league career on Saturday, working three scoreless innings to close out the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Ortiz came on in the seventh with the Pirates holding a comfortable 6-1 lead, and all he had to do was steer the ship home. He allowed just one hit over his three scoreless frames while striking out three batters along the way.   • Mitch Keller fans eight in victory over Blue Jays
    Mitch Keller delivered a dominant performance in Saturday afternoon’s victory over the Blue Jays, racking up eight strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.

    Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered just five hits and one walk on the day. The lone tally against him came in the sixth inning as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled, advanced on a line drive and raced around to score on a two-out single by Dan Vogelbach. That’s really the only time that they threatened. Keller generated 10 swings and misses on 106 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 28 percent. Now 7-3 on the season, he’ll tote an impressive 3.42 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 66/20 K/B ratio (73 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 3:01 pm

    Priester will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday to start against the Blue Jays, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

    Advice: Priester was sent to Triple-A on May 15 after posting a 4.33 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through his first five starts of the season. He's managed to bounce back since then, firing seven scoreless innings during his most recent Triple-A start, and he now figures to remain in the Pirates' rotation until Martin Perez (groin) is able to return from the injured list.   • Yusei Kikuchi hit hard in loss to Pirates Saturday
    Yusei Kikuchi was hit hard in Saturday afternoon’s loss to the Pirates, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

    Advice: The 32-year-old southpaw struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing one base on balls. The Pirates jumped on him for three runs in the opening inning, including a two-run blast off the bat of Ke’Bryan Hayes. Kikuchi then settled in until they scratched out two more in the fifth and another while chasing him in the sixth inning. He generated 12 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 28 percent.     Julio Teheran has elected free agency.

    Advice: The 33-year-old hurler chose to exercise the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Cubs and is once again back on the open market.     Teheran opted out of his minor-league contract with the Cubs on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

    Advice: After a brief stint with the Mets, Teheran elected free agency and signed a MiLB deal with the Cubs in April. He has since started eight games, logging an 8.82 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 32.2 innings.
