    Advice: It hasn't been reported that Ohtani is dealing with any type of injury, so he's presumably just receiving his first rest day of the season. Ohtani still has a 1.017 OPS on the season but has gone 5-for-26 over the past six games, and Thursday's team off day will provide a chance for two straight days of rest.     Advice: Rodriguez is back in action after he hadn't played since April 24 due to the hand injury he sustained while sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt in a game against San Antonio. The 21-year-old outfielder had gotten off to a strong start to the season for Wichita before suffering the injury, slashing .294/.507/.686 with four home runs and nine stolen bases in 73 plate appearances.   • Willi Castro goes 3-for-5, steals base
    Willi Castro went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and a stolen base Wednesday as the Twins took down the White Sox 10-5.

    Advice: Castro has really warmed up, going 16-for-35 with eight RBI in his last eight games. That’s raised his OPS from .538 to 789. He was in line to lose playing time due to Carlos Correa’s return, but the hot streak has changed that, and now that Byron Buxton is down, there’s little doubt that Castro will stay in the lineup for a while.   • Bailey Ober gives up four runs, wins anyway
    Bailey Ober won despite allowing four runs in six innings Wednesday against the White Sox.

    Advice: It’s Ober’s worst start since he gave up eight runs on March 31, but still not too shabby. He’s sporting a 3-1 record, a 4.55 ERA and an excellent 1.04 WHIP. Next up is a home start versus the Mariners. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago
     
  • Tracking toward return next week
    Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that he expects Montas (forearm) to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible May 7 or the day after, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Montas was placed on the IL on April 22 with a bruised right forearm, which he sustained when he was struck by a line drive in his start a day earlier. Bell noted that Montas threw a side session Monday without issue, and the right-hander will throw one more bullpen session later this week as a final test of his health.     Advice: With Michael Kopech hardly being a sure thing, it’d be nice if there were a clear No. 2 reliever on the White Sox. However, Wilson’s velocity is down and he has an ugly 10/9 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings. John Brebbia is having similar issues after missing more of the spring, and while rookie Jordan Leasure possesses a nice 3.00 ERA, his 8/6 K/BB ratio in 12 innings doesn’t inspire much confidence.
