      Paul Sewald pitched a clean ninth inning on Friday to earn the save.

      Advice: There must be something about the city of Philadelphia or Citizens Bank itself that just calms Sewald because he did on Friday what he did four times in the last NLCS: shut the Phillies down.       Sewald allowed one hit and struck out one during a scoreless ninth to collect the save Thursday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Sewald collected his first save in two weeks, having tossed just 1.1 innings over two appearances during that span prior to Thursday. Despite the inactivity, Sewald needed only eight pitches, tossing six for strikes to thwart the Nationals.     • Paul Sewald hurls scoreless frame for save
      Paul Sewald allowed a hit and picked up a strikeout in a scoreless inning to get a save against the Nationals on Thursday.

      Advice: Sewald has been sensational since returning from the injured list, and the scoreless inning lowers his ERA to a miniscule 0.71. The right-hander also has collected eight saves and will continue to operate as the Diamondbacks closer throughout 2024. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:31 pm

      Finnegan struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over Arizona.

      Advice: The right-hander breezed through the Diamondbacks' 5-6-7 hitters on 14 pitches (11 strikes) en route to his eighth straight successful conversion. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency.       Crochet (6-6) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

      Advice: Crochet racked up a hearty 19 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it wasn't enough to keep him out of the loss column in a contest during which he was supported with just one run. The fact that the three earned runs were the most the left-hander has allowed since April 24 speaks volumes about the quality of his campaign thus far. Crochet has tallied six consecutive quality starts and is tied for 10th in the majors with 10 total on the campaign.       Yates earned a save against the Mets on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Yates protected a two-run Texas lead in the top of the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on 16 pitches. The veteran reliever is a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season -- no closer in baseball has converted more saves without blowing any opportunities.       Garrett Crochet allowed three runs with eight strikeouts across six innings in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

      Advice: Crochet came into this one on a roll, not allowing more than two runs over each of his last nine starts. The Astros got to him for three on Wednesday, starting with three hits and a groundout to bring a run across in the third inning. A walk and two hits brought another run in to score in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, Crochet allowed one more run in on a double and a base hit in the sixth. He still generated 19 whiffs to strike out eight batters.     • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Diamondbacks in ninth
      Kyle Finnegan slammed the door on the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning on Wednesday, retiring all three hitters that he faced to preserve a two-run advantage.

      Advice: Finnegan picked up his 21st save of the season for his efforts. The 32-year-old hurler made things look easy in this one, getting Joc Pederson on a ground ball to first and then striking out Eugenio Suarez and Gabriel Moreno to end it. While his job security was shaky heading into the season, Finnegan has been an absolute monster for fantasy managers this season, posting a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and a 33/10 K/BB ratio over 31 1/3 innings of work while converting 21 of his 23 save chances and chipping in two victories for good measure.
