    • Picks up win on Opening Day
Berrios (1-0) went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits and one walk during Thursday's win over the Rays. He struck out six.

Advice: After kicking off 2023 with two straight losses, Berrios wasted no time getting in the win column to start the 2024 campaign, going six strong against Tampa Bay. Berrios was tagged for a solo homer by Yandy Diaz on just his fifth pitch of the game. However, he limited Rays' hitters two through five to a combined 0-for-11 with a walk. Berrios's next start is tentatively scheduled to come against the Astros. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago
    • X-rays negative on Max Kepler’s right leg
X-rays came back negative on Max Kepler’s right leg.

Advice: Kepler appears to have avoided serious injury following an early exit from Thursday’s Opening Day matchup against the Royals after fouling a ball off his right leg. He’ll likely wind up getting a few days off to rest and recover, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Today, 4:57 pm

    • X-rays clear on right leg
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli noted after Thursday's 4-1 win over the Royals that X-rays on Kepler's right leg came back negative, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Kepler managed to finish his at-bat after the foul ball, but he didn't take the field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Twins have a scheduled day off Friday, which gives the team an extra day to see how Kepler feels ahead of Saturday's contest. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts before exiting Thursday. • Josh Hader fans three in impressive Astros debut
Josh Hader struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Thursday in his Astros debut.

Advice: Hader was called upon with Houston trailing by a run and wound up striking out Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Anthony Volpe to keep it a one-run margin. That’ll do. Rotoworld Today, 4:43 pm

    • Jose Berrios stymies Rays in Opening Day win
José Berríos stymied the Rays on Thursday, allowing just two runs on six hits over six innings while getting the win in the team’s 8-2 Opening Day victory.

Advice: Berríos struck out six and walked one on the day. The velocity on both his sinker and curve was up almost 1.5 mph from 2023 and those pitches made up the brunt of his arsenal at 67 percent usage. He recorded a 23 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW on the day and it was nice to see him put up a 45 percent whiff rate on his four-seam fastball, which he got up in the zone often. It was a nice performance to start the season for the often-overlooked pitcher against a good offense, but he’ll get an ever tougher test next week when the Blue Jays travel to Houston. • Exits with possible injury
Kepler was removed from Thursday's game against the Royals after fouling a ball off his right leg, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kepler initially remained in the game to finish his at-bat after getting checked out by trainers, but he was replaced once the Twins took the field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Twins will take a look at the 31-year-old outfielder and should have more information in the near future. Rotowire.com Today, 3:16 pm

    • Julio Rodríguez headlines M’s Opening Day lineup
Julio Rodríguez is in center field and batting second for Thursday’s Opening Day showdown against the Red Sox.

Advice: Rodríguez and company will take on Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello, most likely with the roof closed, in Seattle to kick off the season. Here’s the full lineup: J.P. Crawford SS, Rodríguez CF, Jorge Polanco 2B, Mitch Garver DH, Cal Raleigh C, Mitch Haniger RF, Dominic Canzone LF, Ty France 1B, Josh Rojas 3B. Rotoworld Today, 1:35 pm

    • De La Cruz batting sixth in Opening Day lineup
Elly De La Cruz is at shortstop and batting sixth in Thursday’s Opening Day matchup against the Nationals.

Advice: This will be new territory for the 22-year-old phenom as he did not bat in the six-hole once during the 2023 season. Fantasy managers should expect another solid season from De La Cruz as he’ll showcase his power and speed in a full 162-game season. Here’s the full Opening Day lineup for the Reds: Jonathan India 2B, Will Benson CF, Christian Encarnacion-Strand 1B, Jeimer Candelario 3B, Jake Fraley RF, Elly De La Cruz SS, Spencer Steer LF, Nick Martini, DH, Tyler Stephenson C, Frankie Montas SP.
