      Neris (6-2) took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one inning.

      Advice: Neris entered in the top of the ninth frame with Chicago leading by two runs. He got one out before Jorge Soler reached base on catcher's interference. Mike Yastrzemski followed with a walk before Thairo Estrada gave San Francisco the lead with a three-run homer. Though Neris retired the following two batters, the damage had been done, and the Cubs weren't able to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame. The blown save was the fourth of the season for Neris and his third over his past seven chances.       Hector Neris allowed three runs, blew the save and took the loss against the Giants on Monday.

      Advice: The Cubs’ lead evaporated quickly in the ninth inning. With one out, Jorge Soler reached on a catcher interference. After Neris issued a walk to Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada hit a three-run home run to give the Giants a 7-6 lead. Neris now has four blown saves on the year including two blown saves in his last three opportunities. Neris’ ERA is now 4.73 on the year. His grip on the closer role loosens with every blown save.       De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Pirates.

      Advice: De La Cruz produced his fifth three-hit effort of the season Monday. He has multi-hit games in three of his last four and a stolen base in three straight contests. The 22-year-old now has 37 steals through 72 games this season, which puts him on pace to reach 80 thefts by the end of the campaign.     • Dealing with hamstring injury
      Friedl suffered a hamstring injury and exited Monday's 4-1 loss to the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth inning, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: Friedl made a diving catch in center field, robbing Nick Gonzales of an extra-base hit in the bottom of the fifth, injuring his hamstring in the process. Manager David Bell said that Friedl had a full range of motion and strength, stating that the hamstring was "just tight."       Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with his 37th stolen base of the season on Monday in the Reds’ loss to the Pirates.

      Advice: De La Cruz was one of the few bright spots in this one as Cincinnati’s offense was almost completely shut down by Pirates rookie ace Paul Skenes into the late innings of the first meeting between the two division rivals this year. The 22-year-old middle infielder remains on pace to steal roughly 80 bases this season as he’s picked it up on the bases recently, notching at least one theft in three straight contests.     • Chase Silseth (elbow) to make third rehab start
      Rather than rejoin the rotation, Chase Silseth will make a third rehab start on Friday.

      Advice: Giving up three runs in five innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday wasn’t good enough to get Silseth back to the majors just yet. The Angels have off Thursday and Sunday this week, so there’s little harm in keeping Silseth down for now. If he pitches well Friday, he’ll probably be added to the rotation next week.       Silseth (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday against Reno, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Silseth is set for a fifth rehab start and third with Salt Lake. The 24-year-old has been on the injured list since April 8 due right elbow inflammation, but he appears to be closing in on a return to the major-league roster. Through two starts at Triple-A, Silseth has struggled a little, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits and eight walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings.       José Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday due to abdominal pain.

      Advice: Zach Plesac will go right into the rotation and start after being called up this afternoon. Hopefully, this is an illness and not something else abdomen-related for Soriano.
