    • Charlie Blackmon homers, doubles twice in loss
Charlie Blackmon homered and doubled twice in a 5-2 loss for the Rockies to the Pirates on Friday.

Advice: It comes in a losing effort, but it’s another big offensive game for Blackmon. The veteran outfielder was hitting .224 on May 26, and that number is now .266 after the three-hit night. The homer came off David Bednar in the ninth, and Colorado trailed 5-2 after the solo blast. Still counts. Blackmon’s a name to keep an eye on based on how he’s played since the end of May, and because he gets to play his home games in a very silly park. Rotoworld Friday, 10:11 pm

    • Eugenio Suárez homers in blowout win
Eugenio Suárez hit a solo homer in a blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Suárez swatted a solo shot in the fourth inning off Chris Flexen — his former teammate in Seattle — to give D-Backs a 4-1 lead. It’s been a struggle for the 32-year-old third baseman, as even with the roundtripper he’s hitting only .197/.274/.324. Rotoworld Friday, 9:23 pm
    • Removed with knee discomfort
Perez was pulled from Friday's game against the Dodgers due to right knee discomfort.

Advice: Perez hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give Kansas City a 3-0 lead, but his knee caused him to come out of the game during the eighth. It's unclear how severe the backstop's injury is, but the Royals should know more before Saturday's contest. If he does have to miss any amount of time, Freddy Fermin would be the next man up as Kansas City's main catcher. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:21 pm

    • Cracks three extra-base hits
Blackmon went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two doubles and two runs scored in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: The 37-year-old collected two doubles off bulk reliever Luis Ortiz before capping his evening with a 412-foot solo homer against David Bednar in the ninth. Blackmon has shown signs of life in June, hitting .347 (17-for-49) over 12 games this month. He sports a .266/.335/.411 slash line with three homers, five steals, 32 runs scored and 26 RBI on the season. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:01 pm

    • Jose Altuve doubles twice as Astros defeat Tigers
Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored on Friday evening, helping to lead the Astros past the Tigers.

Advice: Altuve got a rally started with a leadoff double off of Tarik Skubal to begin the sixth inning. He then scored the game’s first run on Alex Bregman’s ensuing RBI triple. Altuve also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. With his two-hit attack, the 34-year-old second baseman is now slashing an outstanding .298/.349/.453 to go along with 10 homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Friday, 8:09 pm

    • Alex Bregman smacks RBI triple in win over Tigers
Alex Bregman went 1-for-4 and smacked a run-scoring triple on Friday night as the Astros triumphed over the Tigers.

Advice: Bregman finally got the scoring started in the ballgame with his RBI triple off of Tigers’ start left-hander Tarik Skubal in the sixth inning. He then trotted home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Yordan Alvarez. With his 1-for-4 night, the 30-year-old third baseman is now hitting .240/.303/.407 with nine homers, 33 RBI and a pair of stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Friday, 8:09 pm

    • Big night vs. former team
Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four total RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: It was a memorable return to Fenway Park for Verdugo, who belted a two-run homer on the first pitch he saw in the first inning from Brayan Bello before driving in two more runs later in the game. It was Verdugo's first homer since May 29 -- he's up to nine long balls on the season, just four shy of his career high. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .266/.319/.438 with 41 RBI and 35 runs scored through 69 games this year. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:09 pm

    • Alex Verdugo exacts revenge in return to Fenway
Alex Verdugo exacted revenge in his return to Fenway Park on Friday night, going 3-for-5 with a homer, double and four RBI as the Yankees vanquished the Red Sox 8-1.

Advice: Verdugo brought the pain on the first pitch that he saw in his former home park, blasting a 406-foot (104.0 mph EV) two-run shot to give the Yankees an early 2-0 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. He also added an RBI double in the fifth inning that made it a 4-1 ballgame and capped off the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, the 28-year-old outfielder is now hitting .266/.319/.438 to go along with nine homers and 40 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Friday, 7:48 pm

    • Astros release 1B Jose Abreu
      Astros released 1B Jose Abreu.

Advice: The 37-year-old from Cuba has accomplished a lot in his career. Abreu is a three-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger award winner, won the Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and Most Valuable Player award in 2020. It’s undeniable that his production has fallen off a cliff over the last two seasons, though. Abreu hit .237/.296/.383 in 141 games last year and his average fell to .124 in 113 at-bats this year. He’s in the second year of a three-year $58.3 million deal, but the Astros recognized the sunk cost and will be on the hook for the remainder of the money still owed to Abreu.
