    • Set to start Friday
Irvin will start Friday's game against the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Irvin will start on regular rest, so it's not particularly notable that he will take the ball for Baltimore on Friday. However, that also moves Kyle Bradish back at least one more game, giving him multiple extra days of rest after Cade Povich took Bradish's original turn Thursday. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

    • Cole Irvin starting on Friday against Rays
Cole Irvin will start Friday’s series opener against the Rays.

Advice: Irvin will take the ball in place of Kyle Bradish, who is getting a couple extra days of rest as the Orioles manage his workload after dealing with an offseason elbow issue. The 30-year-old lefty holds a 2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 37/12 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 appearances, nine starts) this season. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Christian Scott strikes out seven on Wednesday at AAA
Mets RHP prospect Christian Scott struck out seven and allowed one run over five innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: It doesn’t figure to be an extended stay back in the minors for Scott after he was shipped back to Triple-A Syracuse last week in an effort to manage his workload. The 24-year-old righty, who has established himself as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball this season, authored a dominant performance in his return to the upper minors and it’s going to be hard for New York to justify keeping him out of the big leagues for much longer if he keeps pitching like this. • Struggles in debut
Povich (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Povich's debut started well, as he held Toronto scoreless through his first three innings. However, he'd give up a three-run homer to Vladimir Guerrero in the third inning before the Jays added two more runs in the fourth in an eventual 6-5 defeat. If the Orioles return to a five-man rotation, Povich figures to head back to Triple-A Norfolk where he pitched to a 3.18 ERA in 56.2 innings this year. Rotowire.com Today, 3:20 pm

    • Christopher Morel in Thursday’s lineup vs. Reds
Christopher Morel (foot) is in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a positive sign that Morel is back in the lineup without missing any time after making an early exit from Wednesday’s contest against the White Sos after fouling a ball off his left foot. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of Chicago’s lineup supplying 11 homers and six steals through 61 contests. Rotoworld Today, 1:54 pm

    • In Thursday's lineup
Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.

Advice: Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games. • Bobby Witt Jr. steals two bags in win over CLE
Bobby Witt Jr. reached twice while stealing two bases in a 4-3 win for the Royals over the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Witt Jr. is now up to 19 thefts on the year. The speedy superstar is playing at an MVP level with a .317/.371/.560 slash, and has picked up hits in each game thus far in June. If 2025 drafts were held now — and they are decidedly not — it’d be hard to argue that he wouldn’t be the first pick in the overwhelming majority of leagues. Scary to think he’s still only 23, too. • Cade Povich surrenders six runs in MLB debut
Cade Povich was charged for six runs in 5 1/3 innings while picking up a loss Thursday to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Povich has dealt with command issues in the minors, and unfortunately his control was a problem in his MLB debut with four walks. He also allowed five hits while fanning just two. The 24-year-old has the stuff to succeed, but fantasy managers saw the issues that could prevent him from doing so right now. If Povich starts again, the 24-year-old will likely face Atlanta next week. Rotoworld Today, 12:37 pm

    • Getting breather
Smith is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.

Advice: Smith started the first two games of the series, going 3-for-7 with a double, a walk and an RBI. He will yield to Austin Barnes for the series finale as the Dodgers try to avoid a sweep. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 pm
