    • Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said on 106.7 The Fan on Wednesday that Bryce Harper (knee) will resume baseball activities in "the next day or two."
Advice: Harper continues to make progress, as he was cleared to progress toward running following a visit to the team doctor earlier this week. While he could begin baseball activities within the next couple of days, there's no timetable for him to return to game action. The 20-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since May 26 with left knee bursitis.

    • Bryce Harper (knee) has been cleared to resume strengthening activities.
Advice: Harper experienced "a little puffiness" in his left knee while doing range of motion exercises on Saturday, but that wasn't a cause for alarm. The 20-year-old will now progress from walking and jogging to running and other baseball activities. It's not clear how long the process will take, but if he keeps improving, it could happen quickly. A return before the end of the month appears realistic.

    • Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Bryce Harper had "a little puffiness" in his left knee after doing some range of motion exercises on Saturday.
Advice: Johnson was quick to point out that the team's training staff wasn't concerned, as some minor swelling seemed to be expected. Harper will resume baseball activities early this week before hopefully beginning a rehab assignment before the end of the week. Harper hasn't played since May 26, when he aggravated his left knee bursitis.

    • Bryce Harper (knee) plans on testing his injured knee when the team travels to Philadelphia next week.
Advice: Manager Davey Johnson also said that Harper could perform baseball activities at that time if he's feeling up to it. If all goes well with that, he could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. He was given platelet-rich plasma and cortisone shots in the knee on Monday, and had to be shut down completely for one week. If everything goes smoothly, he could return to the Nationals' lineup before the end of the month.

    • Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that Nolan Reimold (hamstring) felt good after his first rehab game with Double-A Bowie on Tuesday.
Advice: Reimold, out since May 11 with a right hamstring strain, went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the designated hitter. He's slated to start in left field on Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the Orioles' lineup by the end of the month.

    • Josh Hamilton has his worst game yet for the Angels on Tuesday, grounding into three double plays and striking out twice.
Advice: Hamilton had at least one runner on every time up tonight, and he snuffed rallies at every single opportunity in the 3-2 loss. Manager Mike Scioscia may want to move him out of the two hole after this one. He may actually want to bat him ninth after this one.

    • Josh Hamilton went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI against the Mariners on Monday.
Advice: Coming off a Sunday off-day against Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia, Hamilton teed off in an easier matchup, taking Aaron Harang deep for a two-run shot in the second. Hamilton owners, much like the Angels, are stuck in a holding pattern with the former top slugger. Nobody is going to take his .217/.273/.395 slash line off your hands and offer you value back, but it's unlikely that you have a more talented backup to insert into the lineup until Hamilton regains his stroke.

    • Brandon Moss went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored as the A's beat the Rangers 6-2 on Tuesday.
Advice: Moss has homers in two of his last three games and 13 on the year. The first baseman also tripled in the game, his third already this season. Moss likely won't replicate the .291 batting average he finished with in 2012, but he is well on his way to another 20-homer season.

    • Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that people who have spoken with MLB investigators feel it's likely that "at least some" suspensions will be issued in the Biogenesis case.
Advice: MLB has begun interviewing players associated with the case, though they have yet to talk to Ryan Braun or Alex Rodriguez, seemingly because they want to gather enough evidence before confronting them. Interestingly, Heyman notes that MLB officials believe the league's Joint Drug Agreement may allow it to announce suspensions before any appeal process because the names involved have already been leaked. The MLBPA obviously wouldn't be happy with that. While Braun and Rodriguez have garnered most of the attention in the case, Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta, Everth Cabrera, Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero are among the other players who have been connected to the now-shuttered clinic.

    • Ryan Braun (thumb) will be shut down from baseball activities for at least the next week.
Advice: Braun is dealing with a nerve issue in his right hand, and the Brewers are hopeful that the symptoms will subside with some extra rest. If they don't, he'll just have to play through the ailment. "If it gets better, he'll start swinging again and then take BP," manager Ron Roenicke said. "Maybe when he comes off, it will go away. If not, he'll have to play and fight through it." Logan Schafer will see the bulk of the time in left field while Braun is out.

    • Brewers placed OF Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9, with a right thumb contusion.
Advice: Braun has been dealing with the injury for quite some time now, and the team feels it's in his best interest to shut him down completely and let it heal. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Braun should still be expected to return before the end of June. Logan Schafer has been filling in while Braun was sidelined, and sees a substantial boost to his fantasy value while receiving everyday at-bats.

Advice: Upton was coming off a two-homer performance on Saturday, so he was bumped to the No. 5 spot in the lineup. The double was his sixth extra-base hit in his last 13 games. Upton is starting to show signs of life, but is still batting just .167/.264/.315 in 60 games this season.

Advice: Marte was the catalyst of the Pirates offense on Tuesday. The triple led off the game and was the Pirates' only extra-base hit of the night. He later scored before singling in a run of his own in the seventh inning. Marte also stole a base in the game, his 21st of the season.

Advice: Making his first start at first base this season, Duda raised his average 15 points (from .226 to .241). Mets manager Terry Collins has resisted trying Duda at first base in anticipation of an eventual Ike Davis return, but there's no doubt that New York is a better team with Duda at first and Daniel Murphy at second.
