    • The New York Post confirms Chris Stewart (groin) will not be placed on the disabled list.
Advice: Stewart injured himself when he slid into third base awkwardly during Thursday's game, but he's not expected to miss more than 2-3 days. An MRI on Friday ruled out structural damage and the Yankees are listing him as day-to-day.

    • An MRI on Chris Stewart's left groin came back clean.
Advice: Stewart tweaked his groin when he slid into third base awkwardly during Thursday's game. He hopes to be back in a few days.

    • Chris Stewart will undergo an MRI on his left groin.
Advice: Stewart injured himself when he slid into third base awkwardly during Thursday's game. He didn't hear a pop, but it's still possible he could be sidelined for a while.

    • Jason Castro had two hits and scored the winning run in the Astros' 4-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday.
Advice: Castro led off the top of the 11th inning with a double off the wall and scored on a Matt Dominguez fielder's choice. The catcher owns just a .243/.282/.393 line on the year, but he's got more pop than that and he's been pegged as the Astros' long-term backstop.

    • Jason Castro went 0-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in Friday's loss to the Pirates.
Advice: Castro was hitting .284 as recently as May 4, but he has just six hits over his last 41 at-bats, lowering his batting average down to .237 for the season. The 25-year-old backstop shouldn't be hitting in the middle of the order on a major league team, but the Astros don't have many quality options.

    • Mets GM Sandy Alderson confirmed Friday that Travis d'Arnaud (foot) should be ready to play in minor league games by the end of June.
Advice: D'Arnaud is still in a walking boot, but he's hoping to be cleared for weight-bearing activities in two weeks. The 24-year-old suffered a non-displaced fracture of the first metatarsal in his left foot during a mid-April game at Triple-A Las Vegas and will continue to be moved along slowly. D'Arnaud won't be a candidate for a promotion to majors until well into the second half of the season.

    • Mets prospect catcher Travis d'Arnaud (foot) can't do anything weight-bearing for another two weeks.
Advice: D'Arnaud suffered a non-displaced fracture of the first metatarsal in his left foot four weeks ago in Triple-A. The Mets were hoping that he would be able to shed his walking boot Friday, but there was always the chance that he would need more time. The 24-year-old backstop is unlikely to return to game action until the end of June.

    • Jordan Pacheco went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI in Friday's 10-9 win over the Giants.
Advice: Pacheco had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the second inning while his fifth-inning grand slam broke a 5-5 tie. With a .313/.360/.410 batting line over 26 games this season, the 27-year-old continues to be a useful player for Colorado. Todd Helton isn't a good bet to hold up and will require regular rest no matter what, so Pacheco should continue to have value in NL-only leagues.

    • Jose Molina said he was "OK" after Saturday's game after exiting due to left hamstring tightness.
Advice: It sounds like Molina could be in the lineup Sunday. Either way, he's just day-to-day and nothing more at this point.

    • Nick Hundley went 0-for-4 on Thursday to drop his average to .250.
Advice: Hundley looked like a potential fantasy breakout star in April, batting .329 with a .901 OPS. He's cratered since, going 2-for-33 in 11 May games. Yasmani Grandal's suspension, and Hundley's firm grasp of San Diego's starting catching job, end later this month. A perennial name bandied about in trade talks, expect Hundley to fry on the hot stove this summer.

    • Rob Brantly drove home his 11th run of the season in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Advice: Brantly's RBI single in the seventh inning was his only hit in four at-bats on the night. He's been a bit of a disappointment offensively thus far, hitting .247/.321/.323 with no homers, 11 RBI and only four runs scored on the season. Fantasy owners in two-catcher formats who counted on more production from the Marlins backstop have likely had to search for other options.

    • Austin Romine went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a run scored Friday in a win over the Blue Jays.
Advice: Romine was just 1-for-16 coming into Friday's action. The 24-year-old backstop should get a chance at regular at-bats while Chris Stewart nurses a groin injury, so he could be worth a short-term look in AL-only leagues.

    • Geovany Soto homered for the second consecutive game, but that was the entirety of the Rangers offensive attack in Friday's loss to the Tigers.
Advice: Soto finished the evening 1-for-3. He's still hitting a horrifying .185/.267/.333 through his first 54 at-bats on the season, but has at least picked up the production some in recent days while being counted on to fill in for the injured A.J. Pierzynski. He remains a non-factor in fantasy leagues.

  • Thu, May 16
    • Geovany Soto hit a three-run homer off Justin Verlander in the Rangers' win Thursday.
Advice: Soto, who had just one RBI in 47 at-bats this season, finally came through with A.J. Pierzynski on the disabled list. That said, as much as a liability as he's been with the bat thus far, the Rangers are still 9-6 with him in the lineup.

    • Taylor Teagarden (thumb) had the splint removed from his dislocated left thumb on Friday.
Advice: Teagarden was originally given a 3-4 week timetable for recovery when the injury occurred, so barring any setbacks he should be looking at a return to the Orioles before the end of the month.

    • John Jaso (leg) indicated Friday that his right leg is still sore, making him unlikely to be available for Friday night's game against the Royals.
Advice: Jaso was hit in the leg by a pitch during Wednesday's game and said that it still hurt running to his mailbox. Derek Norris is will continue to handle the catching duties while Jaso is sidelined.

    • David Ross is still experiencing concussion symptoms and is likely to be re-examined Monday in Boston.
Advice: Ross was placed on the 7-day disabled list last Sunday and will not be ready to return when he's first eligible. Ryan Lavarnway will continue to serve as Jarrod Saltalamacchia's backup for now.

    • Red Sox manager John Farrell said David Ross (concussion) will be re-examined "over the next couple of days."
Advice: Ross is eligible to come off the DL on Sunday, but the Sox will just wait to see how he recovers. "We're still taking this very much day to day," Farrell said. "He'll get reexamined in Boston over the next couple of days before rejoining us in Minnesota. There's no template on these, when the symptoms start to progress. Yesterday was a tougher day for him with some of those symptoms, so we've got to work off him in this. He'll be fully evaluated in Boston. Where we go from there will be dependent upon the diagnosis and the recommendations of the doctors there."

    • Nationals placed C Wilson Ramos on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
Advice: Ramos missed a couple weeks last month with the same injury. He doesn't think the strain is too bad, but it's possible the Nats will play it safe and hold him out longer this time around.

  • Wed, May 15
    • Wilson Ramos left Wednesday's game in the fourth inning with an apparent leg injury.
Advice: Ramos ran very gingerly down to first base after singling. It's possible he might have aggravated the hamstring injury that sent him to the 15-day disabled list last month. The Nationals will provide an update soon.

    • Russell Martin (neck) went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a walk in his return to action Tuesday.
Advice: Martin hadn't played since last Thursday due to neck soreness. The veteran backstop is hitting .273/.368/.545 with six home runs, 12 RBI, and a .914 OPS through 29 games this season.
