• Sixto Sánchez starting Wednesday against Braves
Sixto Sánchez will start on Wednesday against the Braves.

Advice: Sánchez will take the ball at the outset of a bullpen game for the struggling Marlins, who have been shut out in back-to-back games of this series. It’ll be his first start since the postseason of the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Bednar locks down 4th save of the season
David Bednar fired a scoreless ninth inning to secure the Pirates’ 2-1 win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Advice: It was a perfect inning for Bednar, who didn’t allow a single baserunner and struck out one hitter. The right-handed was sitting 96.6 mph with his fastball and now has three scoreless performances in a row. The start of the season was rough, but Bednar has been one of the more reliable closers in baseball and should remain so this season. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Set to start Wednesday
Criswell will draw the start Wednesday against the Guardians, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Advice: Criswell is set to make his second start of the season Wednesday, entering the contest with a 4.26 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings over two appearances in 2024. The right-hander pitched four innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four batters in his only start of the season so far April 13 versus the Angels. • Cooper Criswell starting Wednesday vs. Guardians
Cooper Criswell will start on Wednesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Criswell gets the ball on Wednesday night in Cleveland after allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits with a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 6 1/3 innings (two appearances, one start) this season as an emergency stopgap option for the Red Sox. The 27-year-old righty is a decent organizational depth option, but he’s obviously not a recommended option for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Today, 5:41 pm
  • Emmanuel Clase silences Red Sox for seventh save
Emmanuel Clase struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday against the Red Sox to collect his seventh save of the season.

Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and wound up striking out the side in impressive fashion on just 13 pitches (11 strikes). He sat down Jarren Duran, Tyler O’Neill and Wilyer Abreu, all swinging, to preserve the victory. He’s concerted seven of his nine save opportunities this season and boasts a microscopic 0.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 13/1 K/BB ratio across 12 innings (12 appearances). Rotoworld Today, 5:33 pm
  • Ben Lively quiets Red Sox again on Tuesday in win
Ben Lively struck out seven and allowed just one run over 6 1/3 innings on Tuesday

Advice: Well, this pretty much came out of nowhere, again. Lively twirled his second consecutive gem against Boston’s injury-depleted lineup, allowing just five hits as a seventh-inning solo shot from Wilyer Abreu represented the lone tally against him in this one. He’s given up just three runs on eight hits with a 14/1 K/BB ratio across 11 1/3 innings (two starts) since returning from the injured list. He’ll face a much tougher challenge on Sunday in a road tilt against a loaded Braves lineup. Rotoworld Today, 5:32 pm

  • Paul Sewald (oblique) fans two in rehab debut
Paul Sewald (oblique) allowed an unearned run and recorded two outs on Tuesday in his minor league rehab debut for Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Sewald notched a pair of strikeouts and threw 21 pitches (14 strikes) in his first rehab outing. The 33-year-old veteran stopper figures to rejoin Arizona’s injury-depleted bullpen in the coming days after missing the opening month of the season recovering from a Grade 2 left oblique strain. • Rehab slowed by back issue
Bachman (shoulder) is dealing with mid-back spasms, causing his throwing progression to be put on hold, per MLB.com.

Advice: Bachman has been at the Angels' training facility in Arizona rehabbing from last October's shoulder cleanup surgery. It was initially expected that the righty hurler would be ready to pitch by the start of spring training, but he's instead been progressing slowly and was placed on the 60-day IL in late March. Bachman could still be ready to return by the beginning of June if the back spasms don't halt his throwing progression for an extended period. Rotowire.com Today, 4:49 pm

  • D-backs recall Justin Martinez on Tuesday
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Justin Martinez from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Martinez joins Arizona’s bullpen as a last-minute addition prior to Tuesday’s contest against the Cardinals with southpaw Kyle Nelson landing on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. The 22-year-old righty has made 12 relief appearances for the Diamondbacks over the last two seasons. Rotoworld Today, 4:43 pm
