    • Nestor Cortes holds Angels to two runs over 5 1/3
Nestor Cortes was uninvolved in the decision Tuesday after allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Angels.

Advice: The key for Cortes this season is simply to allow zero earned runs. He’s 3-0 when that happens and 0-for-4 the rest of the time. It’s something he’ll just have to work on prior to his start against the Giants on Sunday. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
    • Fills stat sheet in win
Fry went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Fry has a pair of three-hits games over his last nine contests, going 13-for-26 (.500) with four homers, three steals and 11 RBI in that span. The utility man is on another level lately, though he's been strong throughout the campaign with a .357/.492/.622 slash line, seven homers, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and four steals over 128 plate appearances. He's started three straight games in left field, but that avenue into the lineup will close when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns from the injured list. Fry could compete for playing time with Kyle Manzardo at designated hitter or Bo Naylor at catcher given both of those players' struggles at the plate. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago

    • David Fry goes 3-for-3, hits three-run homer
David Fry went 3-for-3 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday against the Rockies.

Advice: Fry wasn’t expected to make the Guardians out of spring training and then wasn’t slated to play against righties once he did make the team, but all he’s done so far is hit .357/.492/.622 with seven homers and four steals in 128 plate appearances. The exit velocity numbers don’t back up anything close to this level of performance, but he’ll probably remain pretty solid and he has catcher eligibility. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

    • Gavin Stone twirls seven-inning gem to beat Mets
Gavin Stone recorded seven strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Mets.

Advice: Stone drew the starting assignment for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill at Citi Field and authored one of his best outings of the year. He scattered three hits, didn’t hand out a free pass, and established a new season-high mark with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts this season and will bring a respectable 3.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41/17 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (10 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Pirates. • Mike Trout (knee) starts running on treadmill
Mike Trout (knee) has progressed to running on a treadmill.

Advice: Trout underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and remains without a definitive timetable to return to Los Angeles. He’s expected to resume baseball activities at some point in June. Rotoworld Today, 4:58 pm

    • Sitting down for nightcap
Martinez isn't in the Mets' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After a 1-for-4 effort in Game 1, Martinez will get a breather to conclude Tuesday's activities. DJ Stewart will instead get the nod as New York's DH and bat fourth. Rotowire.com Today, 4:32 pm

    • Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) might return next week
Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) has progressed to on-field running.

Advice: Hoskins is making steady progress from a right hamstring strain and could be ready to return to Milwaukee’s lineup next Monday when they open up a series against the Phillies. The 31-year-old was expected to miss 2-4 weeks after landing on the shelf back in mid-May. Rotoworld Today, 2:43 pm

    • Could return next week
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Hoskins (hamstring) ran on the field and is progressing in his running program, and it's possible the first baseman returns from the injured list early next week in Philadelphia, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The 31-year-old landed on the shelf May 14 with a strained right hamstring, and he's now ramping up his rehab work after a brief shutdown period. A return for the Phillies series is likely an enticing target for Hoskins, considering he'd spent his entire MLB career in Philadelphia before signing with the Brewers in January. • Fans six in victory
Irvin (5-2) picked up the win in Monday's 11-3 victory over Boston, scattering four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six and did not allow a run.

Advice: The 30-year-old southpaw was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and matching his season best with six strikeouts. The three walks were uncharacteristic for Irvin, who allowed just one free pass over his previous 24.1 innings pitched. After allowing nine earned runs over his first two starts of the season, Irvin has yielded just seven earned runs over his past eight starts, good for a 1.55 ERA in that span. He will look to keep it rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for this weekend in Tampa. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:06 pm
