    • Returns from paternity list
Snell (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Snell is still awaiting the birth of his baby, despite stepping away from the team for the last three days in anticipation of welcoming a new addition to his family. The left-hander was placed on the paternity list a day after he made his most recent start Wednesday against the Pirates, but he won't end up missing a turn now that he's back on the active roster. He's expected to take the hill Monday against the Phillies, though he could go back on the paternity list during the upcoming week if his child ends up being born. • Strikes out nine in loss
Cease (5-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings against the Yankees. He struck out nine.

Advice: Cease got himself into trouble right out of the gate after surrendering a leadoff single to Anthony Volpe to open the contest, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Aaron Judge two batters later. The right-hander would then go on to strike out five of the next seven batters he faced before giving up another two runs in the fourth. Cease has now allowed three or more runs in three consecutive starts, going 0-2 over that stretch. On a positive note, he's recorded at least eight strikeouts in four of his last five outings and has posted a dynamite 42:6 K:BB in May. His 82 strikeouts on the campaign leave him sitting behind only Tyler Glasnow (87) for the league lead. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:33 am

    • Blows second save
Kopech (1-4) blew the save and took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning as the White Sox fell 5-3 to the Orioles. He struck out one.

Advice: Chicago rolled into the eighth inning with a 3-0 lead, but after Jordan Leasure served up a two-run homer to Ryan O'Hearn, Kopech got the call and threw more gas on the fire, getting taken deep himself by Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg. Kopech has been tagged for five home runs in 23.2 innings this season, fueling a 4.18 ERA, and his issues keeping the ball in the park have followed him to the bullpen. He'll continue to get the majority of the save chances for the White Sox, but his reliability as a high-leverage reliever is still in question. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:52 am

    • Cease strikes out nine in loss Saturday
Dylan Cease allowed four runs in 6 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Cease allowed eight hits, no walks and struck out nine. He’s had two tough starts in a row with difficult matchups against the Braves and Yankees. His ERA has increased from 2.45 to 3.29 in that time. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next week.

    • Roughed up by Milwaukee
Pivetta (2-3) took a loss Saturday against the Brewers, yielding five runs on seven hits and three walks over just 3.1 innings. He notched three strikeouts.

Advice: Pivetta struck out two in a 1-2-3 first inning, but it was a struggle after that. He managed to escape a bases-loaded situation in the second inning, but in the third the Brewers had six straight runners reach base (five via hits) with two outs and scored five runs. Pivetta has now had two great outings but also two duds since coming back from the injured list. If there's a positive to take away from this one it's that he didn't give up a home run after he surrendered six in his prior three starts. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:15 pm

    • Pivetta struggles over 3 1/3 in loss to Brewers
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs while working 3 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

Advice: Pivetta was outstanding while allowing just one hit and one run against the Cardinals on Sunday. He didn’t match that success Saturday. The right-hander allowed seven hits, and he also issued three walks in a start where Pivetta was fine over the first two frames, but gave up five in a disastrous third inning. He’ll get a chance to rebound against the Tigers next week, assuming no changes to the order of the rotation. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:02 pm

    • Tough-luck loss Saturday
Berrios (5-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings as the Blue Jays fell 2-1 to the Tigers. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander was sharp, generating 28 called or swinging strikes among an efficient 83 pitches, but a two-run homer by Kerry Carpenter in the first inning proved to be the difference as Toronto's bats had little success against Reese Olson. The quality start was the third straight for Berrios and his ninth in 11 outings this season, and he'll take a 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 67.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Pirates. • José Berríos pitches well in loss to Tigers
José Berríos allowed two runs with five strikeouts over seven innings in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

Advice: Berríos lone mistake came in the first inning. He gave up a two-out double before Kerry Carpenter took him deep for a two-run homer to give the Tigers the early lead. Berríos settled in for six more scoreless frames, striking out five. He’d take the loss without any run support. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with an outstanding 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 53/18 K/BB ratio across 67 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Pirates in Toronto on Friday. • Punches out eight in win
Gore (3-4) earned the win Friday over Seattle, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: After allowing a home run to J.P. Crawford to lead off the game, Gore rebounded to blank the Mariners over his final six frames. It's the third straight quality start for Gore and the first time he's made it through seven innings this season. The 25-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to 3.04 with a 1.29 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB over 53.1 innings. Gore will look to stay hot in his next start, currently slated for a tough road matchup in Atlanta.
