  • Ackley drives in a 2 runs in win vs. Angels
Dustin Ackley went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Mariners' stomped the Angels 13-2 on Tuesday.

Advice: Ackley has missed a lot of time recently with bone spurs in his ankle. The injury makes it difficult for him to plant and pivot off the foot. So long as Ackley can tolerate the pain, he'll be in the lineup. He's now slashing .251/.298/.397 through 133 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Amarista finishes a triple short of the cycle
Alexi Amarista finished 3-for-4 with a double, homer, two RBI and one run scored on Tuesday against the Phillies.

Advice: He came into this game batting .204 with no extra-base hits in September. So naturally Amarista finishes a triple short of the cycle in Petco, doing most of his damage against Phillies' starter A.J. Burnett. It'll be awhile before you see another performance like this out of Amarista. Even after the monster game, he's batting .242/.292/.313 on the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Altuve sets Astros' single-season hit record
Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Indians.

Advice: The line was fairly standard for the diminutive second baseman, but it was noteworthy for the fact that Altuve passed Craig Biggio for the Astros' record for hits in a single season. He's got 211 for the season, and the Astros still have a week and a half for Altuve to pad his lead. The 24-year-old is batting a ridiculous .343/.379/.456 for the year. Rotoworld.com

  • Franklin logs two hits in his Rays debut
Nick Franklin, making his Rays debut, went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI single in Tuesday's win against the Yankees.

Advice: The Rays acquired Franklin from the Mariners at the trade deadline in the three-way trade that sent David Price to Detroit. He debuted in style, doubling and scoring in the sixth to break a 1-1, then singling in a run in the seventh as part of a four-run frame. Franklin posted a meager .363 OPS in 52 plate appearances with the Mariners this season, but the Rays are banking on bigger and better things in 2015. Rotoworld.com

  • Phillips provides Reds' only hit in shutout
Brandon Phillips provided the Reds their only hit as they were shut out by the Cubs 7-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Jake Arrieta was five outs from a no-hitter, but Phillips ended the attempt with a double to left-center. He finished 1-for-3 on the night. Phillips is near the end of a dreadful, injury-hampered season, slashing .258/.302/.364 with seven home runs and 48 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Flores homers twice, knocks in 6 as Mets win
Wilmer Flores had a career night, going 3-for-4 with a double, a pair of home runs, and six runs batted in as the Mets trounced the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: Flores tied the game at 1-1 with a fourth-inning double, then kept adding on with a three-run home run in the fifth and a two-run blast in the seventh, both off of Brad Penny. Flores entered the night with four home runs in 229 plate appearances, so it was certainly an uncharacteristically powerful performance. Along with six homers, Flores has knocked in 28 runs and posted a .245/.280/.386 slash line. Rotoworld.com

Rays recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Franklin is starting at second base and batting fifth in his Rays debut on Tuesday night against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 102 games this season between Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Durham. He was acquired from the Mariners in the David Price tride and is probably Tampa Bay's second baseman of the future. Rotoworld.com

  • Yanks call up INF Jose Pirela
Yankees purchased the contract of INF Jose Pirela from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: He'll replace the injured Martin Prado (appendectomy) on the active roster. Pirela batted .305/.351/.441 with 10 homers, 60 RBI, and 15 stolen bases over 130 games this season in Triple-A and will function as a backup infielder the rest of the way. Rotoworld.com

Yankees placed INF/OF Martin Prado on the 60-day disabled list with appendicitis.

Advice: Prado underwent an emergency appendectomy and is now officially out for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old hit .316/.336/.541 with seven home runs and 16 RBI over 37 games after coming over from the Diamondbacks in July and should remain useful in mixed fantasy leagues in 2015. • Kendrick goes 1-for-4 in Monday's win
Howie Kendrick went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in Monday's 8-1 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Kendrick is 1-for-6 in his last two games after he went 22-for-44 (.500) with seven extra-base hits (two homers) and 14 RBI during a 10-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old second baseman is getting on base at a better-than-career-average clip, though his power has dropped off a bit. He's slashed .292/.346/.396 with seven homers and 71 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Tampa Bay to promote infielder Nick Franklin
Bob Sutton of the Burlington Times-News reports that the Rays will recall Nick Franklin.

Advice: Triple-A Durham finished their International League playoff run Saturday, so Franklin will now get a chance with the big club. The Rays will finish a series in Toronto on Sunday, so Franklin seems likely to join the club on Monday in Tampa. Acquired from the Mariners in the three-team deal in July, Franklin has hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 homers and 11 steals at the Triple-A level this season and should see pretty regular playing time down the stretch. He's worth owning in deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Prado homers as Yankees come back late to win
Martin Prado's pinch-hit eighth-inning two-run home run helped the Yankees come from behind late to defeat the Rays on Thursday.

Advice: After Rays starter Alex Cobb lost his no-hit bid with one out in the eighth inning, Prado came off of the bench to hit for Brendan Ryan and manager Joe Girardi's decision paid off. Prado lifted a Brad Boxberger offering to left field, halving the Rays' lead to 4-2. It's already the sixth home run he has hit since joining the Yankees at the trade deadline, surpassing his four-month total with the D'Backs. Advice: This was Gyorko's third multi-hit game in his past four games, and his second multi-RBI game during that stretch. This was his first homer since August 19. Mostly due to a rotten start, he's slashing .203/.263/.335 on the year. Rotoworld.com

Alexi Amarista snapped an 0-for-17 stretch of futility by going 1-for-4 with a run scored Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Amarista's calling card is his defense, but even the leather wouldn't keep him in the lineup for most teams. The Padres have always viewed offense as optional, so he makes for a nice fit. Amarista is slashing .234/.285/.298 with three homers over 359 at-bats. Rotoworld.com
