  • Kendrick goes 1-for-4 in Monday's win
Howie Kendrick went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in Monday's 8-1 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Kendrick is 1-for-6 in his last two games after he went 22-for-44 (.500) with seven extra-base hits (two homers) and 14 RBI during a 10-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old second baseman is getting on base at a better-than-career-average clip, though his power has dropped off a bit. He's slashed .292/.346/.396 with seven homers and 71 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Trout goes 1-for-2 with three walks and a run
Mike Trout went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Monday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: Trout is now 4-for-23 (.174) off the Mariners' Hisashi Iwakuma. That's his worst batting average against any pitcher Trout has ever had 15 or more at-bats against. Fortunately, he's really, really good against everybody else. Trout is slashing .291/.381/.567 and is on pace for 37 homers, 116 RBI, 117 runs and 15 steals. Rotoworld.com

  • Shoemaker allows only 1 run in win vs Seattle
Matt Shoemaker yielded only five hits and one runs over 7 2/3 innings in an 8-1 victory over the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Shoemaker allowed five hits, but he didn't walk anyone. He struck out five. Shoemaker is one of the hottest pitchers in the game right now; he's won seven straight decisions and came into the game with a 1.32 ERA across his last seven outings. Shoemaker improved to 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA. He's going to show up on plenty Rookie of the Year ballots. Shoemaker squares off against the Rangers on Saturday. Rotoworld.com

  • Iwakuma yields 7 runs in loss to the Angels
Hisashi Iwakuma was knocked around by the Angels on Monday, allowing seven runs on six hits across 3 1/3 innings.

Advice: Iwakuma struck out four, walked two and gave up a homer. Seattle dug itself into an 8-0 hole before getting on the board in the eighth inning. The Japanese right-hander, who came into this outing 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA in seven career outings against the Angels, picked the wrong time to fall apart, allowing the Angels to improve to 94-56. Iwakuma (14-8, 3.42 ERA) is scheduled to take on the Astros in Houston on Saturday. Rotoworld.com

  • Trumbo blasts a salami, knocks in five runs
Mark Trumbo hit a grand slam to lead the Diamondbacks past the Giants 6-2 on Monday.

Advice: He finished 2-for-5 with five RBI, adding an RBI single in the seventh. The big damage came in the third frame, when Trumbo swatted a Ryan Vogelsong offering over the right field wall to plate Wade Miley, Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock. Trumbo has driven in 10 runs over his last five games. A hot finish would give a nice superficial boost to his disappointing slash line (.239/.303/.389). Rotoworld.com

  • Posey drives in a run in loss to the Snakes
Buster Posey went 1-for-4 with an RBI as the Giants fell to the Diamondbacks 6-2 on Monday.

Advice: He has hit safely in six straight. Posey has knocked in 27 of his 86 RBI in his last 23 games. He's been particularly hot in the season's final month, going 22-for-49 (.449) with two homers and 14 RBI in September. The catcher typically feasts on Rattler pitchers, coming into this one hitting .375 with 17 RBI in his last 18 against Arizona. He's slashing .311/.362/.488 with 20 homers. Rotoworld.com

  • Vogelsong gives up 4 runs in loss to Snakes
Ryan Vogelsong allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings as the Giants dropped a 6-2 decision versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Advice: Vogelsong didn't have his best stuff tonight, though that only manifested on the scoreboard on Mark Trumbo's grand slam. He walked four and allowed six hits. The right-hander came into tonight with a 1.38 ERA in his last two starts against the Diamondbacks, having received exactly zero runs of support in both games. San Francisco's offense couldn't get going tonight, either. Vogelsong (8-11, 3.98 ERA) will be in San Diego this weekend for a Sunday matinee against the Padres. Rotoworld.com

  • Matt Kemp homers again in Dodgers' win
Matt Kemp homered in a second straight game Monday as the Dodgers crushed the Rockies 11-3.

Advice: The Dodgers scored eight times in the sixth to turn a 3-3 game into a laugher. Kemp has seven RBI in his last three games, and he's up to 21 homers and 76 RBI in 499 at-bats for the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Cashner needs only 92 pitches in 2-hit CGSO
Andrew Cashner spun a two-hit shutout on Monday in a 1-0 win versus the Phillies.

Advice: Interestingly, his complete-game shutout came on the same night Anthony Rizzo, for whom he was once traded, hit a walk-off homer. Cashner struck out seven and walked one, needing only 92 pitches, otherwise known as a "Maddux," to finish off the Phillies. The 27-year-old right-hander remains hot, having gone 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last five starts coming into tonight. Of his four wins, Cashner has needed to throw complete games to secure two of them. Now 4-7 with a 2.20 ERA, Cashner hosts the Giants on Saturday. Rotoworld.com

  • Roberto Hernandez pulled in fourth
Roberto Hernandez surrendered two runs in 3 2/3 innings before being removed from Monday's start against the Rockies.

Advice: The Dodgers decided to give Hernandez one more try as a starter, but he certainly didn't do much with it. Perhaps he'll trade spots with Kevin Correia now. Rotoworld.com

  • Yasiel Puig reaches three times in win
Yasiel Puig had another nice game in a rout Monday, going 2-for-5 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Advice: Puig is 7-for-17 with two doubles and two walks the last four days. He still hasn't homered since July 31, but things seem to be getting better. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:36 pm
  • Wilin Rosario goes 3-for-4, homers
Wilin Rosario went 3-for-4 and homered against the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: It's worth wondering what's in store for Rosario after his disappointing offensive season; despite all of his success in 2012 and 2013, the Rockies tried to sign Brian McCann last winter with the idea of moving Rosario out from behind the plate. There won't really be anywhere to move Rosario this winter, so he'll either remain a catcher or possibly get traded. It'd be a case of selling low for the Rockies, though. Rotoworld.com

  • Nori Aoki reaches five times in Royals' win
Nori Aoki went 4-for-4 with a double and a walk to lead the Royals to a 4-3 win over the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Aoki doubled in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, only to be replaced by a pinch-runner despite his plus speed. It ended up working out for the Royals, as the outrageously fast Terrence Gore scored from second on an infield single to win the game. Aoki is hitting .349 in 43 at-bats this month, though he's not doing much else to help fantasy owners at the moment. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:04 pm
  • John Danks goes six scoreless
John Danks blanked the Royals for six innings, but was left with nothing to show for it Monday.

Advice: Danks exited with a 3-0 lead, only to have it blown with one run in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth. As a result, Danks remains winless in his last nine starts. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:01 pm
  • Jake Petricka takes blown save, loss
Jake Petricka took his fifth blown save and his fifth loss after giving up two runs in the ninth Monday against the Royals.

Advice: Petricka came in with two outs in the eighth and bailed Zach Putnam out of a jam, but he gave up two doubles to tie the game in the ninth. The Royals went on to win on a little grounder up the middle that Alexei Ramirez couldn't handle. It was ruled an infield single that allowed the runner to score all of the way from second, so the run was earned, even though that seemed rather ridiculous. We would hope this doesn't cost Petricka additional save chances down the stretch. Rotoworld.com

  • Kemp hits two-run homer in win over Giants
Matt Kemp hit a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Kemp hit the two-run blast off Giants starter Yusmeiro Petit in the sixth inning. The homer gives him 20 on the season, guaranteeing him the fifth 20-homer season of his career. Injuries hampered Kemp in the early going, but the 29-year-old has come on strong to post a .283/.347/.490 line through Sunday. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 6:30 pm
  • Matt Kemp back in Dodgers' lineup
Matt Kemp is back in the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Kemp exited Saturday's contest after fouling a ball off his foot, but he's fine. The outfielder is having a solid bounce-back season with a .284/.348/.486 batting line, 19 homers and 72 RBI over 137 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Mike Trout homers twice in Angels' win
Mike Trout went 3-for-3 with two solo homers and an intentional walk Saturday in the Angels' 5-2 defeat of the Astros.

Advice: Trout collected his 33rd and 34th homers and his 39th double. Really, if there was any question left, he might have just locked up AL MVP honors tonight. Trout leads the league with 107 runs scored and 107 RBI, he's moved into a tie for third in homers and he's third behind Jose Abreu and Victor Martinez in OPS, while obviously having greater defensive value than those two. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:25 pm
  • Yasiel Puig goes 3-for-5 in rout
Yasiel Puig had three hits and three runs scored in Saturday's drubbing of the Giants.

Advice: Sure, everyone had a nice game for the Dodgers tonight, but it's still an important step forward for Puig, who was in a 10-for-73 slump since his last three-hit game on Aug. 15. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 9:36 pm
  • Trumbo goes 3-for-5, drives in three vs. Pads
Mark Trumbo finished 3-for-5 with three RBI as the Diamondbacks beat the Padres 10-4 on Saturday.

Advice: Trumbo smacked a two-run single in the first inning and later scored on a wild pitch. He then plated Chris Owings on a fielder's choice in the second and doubled in the fifth before singling and scoring again in the eighth. Trumbo seems to be finding a groove now after struggling initially in his return from a fractured foot. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 8:38 pm
  • Matt Kemp exits after fouling ball off foot
Matt Kemp left Saturday's game versus the Giants after fouling a ball off his foot.

Advice: Joc Pederson took over for Kemp in the outfield. Kemp was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI before exiting the game in the fourth inning. He should be fine. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 7:56 pm
  • Mike Trout doubles, triples in win
Mike Trout doubled, tripled and drove in two runs as the Angels topped the Astros 11-3 on Friday.

Advice: Trout also scored twice, giving him 104 runs and 105 RBI through 143 games. He leads the AL in both categories. The win was the Angels' ninth straight, giving them an 11-game lead in the AL West. Their magic number is just seven with 16 games to go. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:29 pm
  • Buster Posey propels Giants to win
Buster Posey went 3-for-5 with an RBI as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 6-2 on Thursday.

Advice: It would have been a four-hit day if not for a nice play in the eighth. Even so, Posey is hitting .472 in 36 at-bats this month and .371 with eight homers and 28 RBI in 143 at-bats since the beginning of August. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 4:26 pm
  • Jake Petricka records 13th save
Jake Petricka pitched a scoreless ninth for his 13th save Thursday against the A's.

Advice: Petricka also earned a save last night after a long layoff that includes a few days away to attend the birth of his child. There's a good chance he'll get Friday off now, so perhaps Zach Putnam will pick up a save opp. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 2:06 pm
  • Vogelsong shuts out Snakes for 6 2/3 frames
Ryan Vogelsong worked 6 2/3 shutout innings, allowing two hits, in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: Vogelsong wasn't perfect, of course, striking out only two and walking five. He was yanked before reaching seven innings after cracking 100 pitches. Vogelsong appeared to turn the corner last month, going 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA in six starts, but was then eviscerated for a career-high eight runs (on four homers) over five innings at Colorado in his first start of September. Hopefully that start was a one-outing aberration. Vogelsong has a rematch against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:44 pm
  • Iwakuma yields 4 runs in loss to the Astros
Hisashi Iwakuma worked just 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Iwakuma did strike out six batters, but a two-out three-run Astros' rally in the second inning did him in. He's been in a real funk recently, logging a 7.24 ERA across his last three starts before tonight, though he did enter tonight 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA over his last five outings against division rivals, and 5-1 in his last six home appearances. Iwakuma (14-7, 3.11 ERA) better get it together, because he has a big start on deck with a date against the Angels scheduled for Tuesday. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:22 pm
  • Kemp goes 1-for-4 with a run scored
Matt Kemp went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Matt Kemp is riding a 17-game hitting streak, the longest in the majors at the moment. His batting average is up to .282, and he's now at 19 homers and 69 RBI, four and 13 of which, respectively, came during the aforementioned 17-game stretch. We lament the loss of speed in Kemp's fantasy game (eight steals), but are pleased to report the power never left (.483 slugging percentage, a mere 10 points below his career mark). Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:11 pm
  • Matt Shoemaker notches 15th victory
Matt Shoemaker rebounded from last Friday's poor showing to hold the Rangers to one run in 6 2/3 innings in Wednesday's victory.

Advice: After getting a couple of first-inning runs, Shoemaker had it easy in this one against the depleted Rangers offense. He allowed seven hits, but all were singles and he didn't walk anyone. He struck out two. Shoemaker improved to 15-4 with a 3.16 ERA. He's not going to win Rookie of the Year, but he'll place second or third on a bunch of ballots. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:59 pm
  • Jake Petricka perfect for 12th save
Jake Petricka pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save as the White Sox beat the A's 2-1 on Wednesday.

Advice: The White Sox scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to take an unexpected lead. Petricka, who hadn't worked since Sept. 2 after missing the weekend to be with his wife and newborn, was probably going to pitch the ninth either way. He's not assured every remaining save chance for the White Sox, but he remains the best bet in their pen. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:52 pm
  • Puig batting leadoff for Dodgers Wednesday
Yasiel Puig is batting leadoff for the Dodgers on Wednesday night against the Padres.

Advice: Puig is an extended slump and hit seventh on Tuesday night, but manager Don Mattingly has decided to give him the bump in the hope that it provides a spark. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 2:53 pm
  • Cashner gives up 2 runs in win against LAD
Andrew Cashner surrendered two earned runs in seven innings Tuesday in a 6-3 win against the Dodgers.

Advice: Cashner mostly danced around nine hits, but he did make a big mistake in serving up Adrian Gonzalez's two-homer in the sixth inning; before tonight, he'd never given up a homer to Los Angeles (46 innings). He struck out two and walked one. The win snapped his winless streak at 11 starts. Cashner kicks off a two-start week with an outing against the Phillies on Monday in Petco. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:30 pm
  • Hernandez yields 2 ER over 3 frames to loss
Roberto Hernandez coughed up five runs -- two earned -- over three innings Tuesday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: He gave up a career-high four home runs in his last outing -- last week against the Nationals -- and coughed up another tonight. The right-hander toted a 8.78 ERA across three career starts at Dodger Stadium to the mound this evening, and then pitched so poorly that Don Mattingly refused to send him out for the fourth inning. Hernandez (8-11, 4.04 ERA) punches the clock next week on Blake Street when he tangles with the Rockies in Denver. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:26 pm
  • Posey drives in a pair of runs in 5-1 victory
Buster Posey finished 0-for-4 but still drove in a pair of runs in the Giants' 5-1 win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: He grounded into an RBI fielder's choice in the second inning, and lifted a sacrifice fly to left in the sixth to score Angel Pagan. Posey adores Arizona pitching. Even though he didn't hit safely tonight, he came into this game batting .390 with three homers and 14 RBI in his last 15 games versus the Snakes. It wasn't a surprise he scratched out an RBI against Wade Miley, against whom he entered 9-for-20 with a homer and three doubles lifetime. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:57 pm
  • Danks surrenders four runs in loss to A's
John Danks gave up four runs -- two earned -- over six innings in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

Advice: It was a prototypical start for the left-hander -- seven hits, a walk, and just three strikeouts. Also prototypical was the decision, as Danks has now lost five straight decisions dating back to July. Danks will take a 9-11 record and 5.05 ERA into Sunday's matchup with the Twins. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:01 pm
  • Puig (stomach) goes 0-for-2 in return Sunday
Yasiel Puig (stomach) finished 0-for-2 with a walk in his return to the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Puig was held out of action on Saturday with a minor stomach problem. An IV did the trick, but the struggling 23-year-old basically seems to be splitting time in center field at this point with Joc Pederson. It's all very poor timing for Puig's fantasy owners. He had a .959 OPS on August 3. That's now down to .861. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 12:57 am
  • Kemp hits 19th home run in win over D'backs
Matt Kemp hit his 19th home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The homer was Kemp's only hit in four at-bats. The outfielder started slow but has picked up the pace recently -- he hit five home runs in August, the most of any month so far, and he's got three already in September. The homer also gives him 68 RBI, and two more will be his highest total since his monster 2011 season. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 7, 5:47 pm
  • Kendrick drives in four in drubbing of Twins
Howie Kendrick went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and four RBI in the Angels' lopsided 14-4 win over the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Kendrick led off the second inning with a solo home run, his sixth of the year. In the fifth, he hit a two-run triple. And he added an RBI single in the seventh. The three-hit effort followed a four-hit game for the 31-year-old, raising his season line to .285/.342/.386. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 7, 3:36 pm
  • Trout hits 32nd home run in win over Twins
Mike Trout went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Twins.

Advice: Trout hit a two-run homer in the third inning, his 32nd of the season. That's a career high, as are his 102 RBI. Trout is batting .285/.370/.552 with 97 runs scored on the year. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 7, 3:19 pm
  • Wilin Rosario activated from disabled list
Rockies activated C Wilin Rosario from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Rosario missed the last two weeks of action with left wrist inflammation. Michael McKenry played well while Rosario was out, but Rosario should return to playing pretty much every day. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 7, 10:28 am
  • Yasiel Puig out Saturday with stomach issues
Yasiel Puig is out of the Dodgers' lineup with stomach problems on Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Puig is getting an IV. Joc Pederson will draw the start in center field on Saturday and could continue to see regular playing time down the stretch this season. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 6, 3:16 pm
  • Puig benched for Pederson again on Saturday
Yasiel Puig is out of the Dodgers' starting lineup again on Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Joc Pederson is starting in center field over Puig and could continue to see regular playing time down the stretch. Pederson had a monstrous 2014 season at Triple-A and is the Dodgers' best defensive outfielder by far. He needs to be owned in all mixed fantasy leagues at this point. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 6, 2:41 pm
  • Jake Petricka out this weekend due to baby
Jake Petricka will not be available this weekend against the Indians, as he just welcomed a new child.

Advice: Zach Putnam will presumably handle save opportunities in Petricka's place. Petricka has a cool 2.73 ERA with 11 saves on the season for the White Sox. He should be back in the Chicago bullpen Monday against the Athletics. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 6, 2:21 pm
  • Buster Posey has three hits, homer in victory
Buster Posey went 3-for-3 and belted his 20th home run of the season as the Giants defeated the Tigers 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

Advice: Posey also drew a walk, reaching safely in each of his four plate appearances in the ballgame. His two-out single in the first inning started a four-run rally, and he tacked on the would-be winning run with a solo blast off David Price in the fifth inning. He's in the midst of another MVP-caliber season, slashing .310/.361/.494 with 20 long balls and 79 RBI. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 6, 1:25 pm
  • Norichika Aoki not in Royals lineup Saturday
Norichika Aoki is not in the Royals starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: It looks to be a routine day off for the speedy outfielder. Carlos Peguero is starting in his place in right field and will hit seventh for the Royals. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 6, 9:32 am
  • Matt Kemp hits 18th homer
Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 and hit his 18th homer Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kemp is hitting .310 with 10 homers in 158 at-bats since the All-Star break. He'll probably never be a fantasy MVP again, but given that he's just turning 30 this month, there's no reason to think he doesn't have more productive seasons left in him. Rotoworld.com
    Sep 5, 10:07 pm
  • Matt Shoemaker pulled after four
Matt Shoemaker lasted just four innings and gave up three runs Friday versus the Twins.

Advice: Quite a comedown for a guy who entered the night on a 21 2/3-inning scoreless streak over his previous three starts. Shoemaker allowed six hits, walked three and struck out just two in this one. Oswaldo Arcia homered off him. The Angels really can't afford to have Shoemaker wear down now; they may not need him overly much this month, but he's a huge part of their October plans. He's due to face the Rangers next.
