    • Bronson Arroyo allowed just one unearned run in seven innings of a no-decision against the Pirates on Wednesday.
Advice: Arroyo was the victim of his own fielding blunder, as the unearned run scored on a fielding error he committed in the third inning. Otherwise he was spotless, keeping the Pirates off the scoreboard. He'll carry a 3.04 ERA and 1.16 WHIP into Tuesday's start against the A's.

    • Bronson Arroyo experienced mixed results in Friday's no-decision against the Brewers, surrendering three runs (two earned) on 12 hits over 7 2/3 innings.
Advice: Arroyo racked up five strikeouts on the night while walking just one. He carried a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning before Martin Maldonado blasted a solo homer to tie the score. He's been as solid and dependable as ever this season, posting a 6-5 record, 3.27 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through his first 93 2/3 innings. His next opportunity will come against the Pirates at home on Wednesday.

    • Gio Gonzalez struck out 11 and permitted just two runs and two hits over seven innings in Wednesday's 6-2 extra-innings win over the Phillies.
Advice: Gonzalez yielded hits to Ben Revere (single) and Michael Young (homer) to start off the game, and that was it. He was in line for a loss but wound up with a no-decision after his teammates rallied in the ninth and won it in the 11th. Gonzalez boasts a 2.26 ERA since the beginning of May and has struck out 93 over 91 2/3 frames this season. He'll take on the D'Backs at home next.

    • Gio Gonzalez spun seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Indians on Friday.
Advice: Gonzalez allowed just three hits while the only damage came on a solo homer by Ryan Raburn in the fourth inning. The southpaw fanned eight and walked four in the no-decision. While he's winless over his last seven starts, he has allowed more than three runs in just one of them. He'll face the Phillies next week in Philadelphia.

    • David Price (triceps) is scheduled to make his first rehab start on Friday with High-A Charlotte.
Advice: Price will have to make at least two total starts in the minor leagues before the Rays consider activating him from the disabled list. The ace left-hander has been sidelined since May 15 with a left triceps strain. He felt "great" after a bullpen session Tuesday.

    • David Price (triceps) said he felt "great" during a bullpen session Tuesday.
Advice: The Rays are expected to set his rehab schedule on Wednesday. The club had thought that Price would need three rehab starts before returning, but he's looked better than expected and might not need that much time.

    • David Price (triceps) is slated to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Advice: It will come after he plays catch on Sunday and again on Monday from a greater distance. It looked like Price might return earlier than expected after an impressive simulated game last Thursday, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen since there's still no timetable for when he'll begin a rehab assignment.

    • Erik Bedard allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday but was forced to take a no-decision as the Astros lost to the Brewers.
Advice: Bedard was in vintage form, as he allowed only four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Save for one start, the southpaw has actually been very good since early May but has just two wins to show for it. Such is life as a Houston Astros pitcher. He'll take on the Cardinals next on Tuesday.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Sat, Jun 15
    • Erik Bedard allowed an unearned run over six innings Friday in a win over the White Sox.
Advice: It was his second win of the season, both of them coming in his last three outings. Bedard held the White Sox to just three hits while walking three batters and striking out six. The only run scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Konerko in the fourth inning. Bedard has gone five innings or more while allowing two earned runs or fewer in six out of his last seven starts, but his days of being relevant in mixed leagues are behind him.

    • Trevor Cahill (hip) is expected to be ready for his next start.
Advice: Cahill had to leave Wednesday's game after taking a first-inning Marcell Ozuna line drive off his right hip. His removal was a precaution, though, and he'll be fine for a start early next week against the Nationals.

    • Trevor Cahill matched his career high with 10 strikeouts Friday, but he took a loss after allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Padres.
Advice: It was Cahill's second career 10-K game, the other coming for the A's on June 26, 2010 against the Pirates. With all the strikeouts and a few walks mixed in, Cahill wasn't as efficient as usual tonight, leading to the early exit. He's now 0-4 in his last five starts, but it wasn't his fault the Diamondbacks didn't hit tonight.

    • Rick Porcello was tagged for six runs in six innings by the Orioles in a loss Wednesday.
Advice: Coming off four straight excellent starts, Porcello appeared on the way to another nice outing today, at least until the fourth. He gave up all six runs and seven hits in that frame before coming back with perfect fifth and sixth innings afterwards. One bad innings doesn't necessarily mean that his strong run is over, but it does put a damper on things. Fortunately, he'll miss the Red Sox this weekend and get the Angels next time out.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Fri, Jun 14
    • Rick Porcello delivered another outstanding performance in Friday's victory over the Twins, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings.
Advice: Porcello fanned five on the night without walking a batter. He's been particularly impressive over his last four outings, where he's compiled a 1.33 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio over 27 innings. Aside from one debacle of an inning against the Angels in April, the 24-year-old has actually pitched very well this season. He'll look to continue that trend when he takes on the Orioles at home on Wednesday.

    • Jeremy Hellickson went six innings, allowing just two runs in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Advice: The right-hander was pounded his last time out but rebounded well, holding the Red Sox to seven hits while striking out four. Hellickson has been up and down all year, as his ERA still sits at 5.50 despite being 5-3 on the season. He'll try to carry that momentum over into his next start against the Blue Jays on Monday.

    • Jarrod Parker allowed two runs over seven innings in a win against the Rangers on Tuesday.
Advice: Parker had a miserable start to the season but has been just as terrific recently, as he's now turned in a quality start in each of his last eight outings. The right-hander limited the Rangers to three hits and two walks in his seven innings on Tuesday, striking out four. The win finally evened his record at 6-6 after he was 1-5 at one point. He'll take on the Mariners Sunday in Seattle.

    • Hiram Burgos (shoulder) allowed two runs in four innings for High-A Brevard County on Tuesday in his second minor league rehab start.
Advice: Burgos, who is working his way back from a right shoulder impingement, struck out four and walked none. It's not clear if he'll require another rehab start. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.44 ERA and 18/11 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings over six starts this season.

    • Facing his old team for the first time, Hiroki Kuroda outdueled Hyun-Jin Ryu with 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball as the Yankees beat the Dodgers 6-4 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Advice: The Yankees were up 3-0 when Ryu left after six before Kuroda gave up both of his runs in the seventh. Fortunately, the Yankees were able to build on from there, and the two-run home run that Preston Claiborne gave up to Hanley Ramirez in the eighth didn't cost Kuroda the win. It was his first since May 17. The Yankees had scored a total of seven runs in his previous five starts.

    • Mike Pelfrey allowed four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Tuesday.
Advice: Pelfrey was only slightly better than his counterpart, Dylan Axelrod, as both starters allowed 10 hits over six innings. On the plus side, Pelfrey didn't walk a batter in the outing, only the second time he's done that all season. He's stuck at 3-6 and hasn't recorded a win in over a month, with the last coming on May 5. He'll search for his fourth win against the Indians Sunday in Cleveland.

    • Matt Cain was denied a win after holding the Padres to two runs in seven innings and striking out a season-high 10 on Tuesday.
Advice: Cain left with a one-run lead, but that was blown by Jeremy Affeldt in the eighth. He's allowed just three runs over 20 2/3 innings in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 5.45 to 4.55. He did have a streak of five straight starts without allowing a homer snapped when he gave up two solo shots tonight.

    • After having his last start skipped, Joe Blanton allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and struck out 11 against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Advice: That's a nice Quality Start for Blanton, but he still gave up two more homers (Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak went back-to-back in the second inning), bringing his season total to 15 surrendered in 83 1/3 innings. He has pitched effectively in four of his last five outings, but an easier schedule has had a lot to do with that.

    • Joe Blanton will start for the Angels on Tuesday against the Mariners.
Advice: Blanton was skipped over the weekend, but he hasn't lost his spot in the rotation, at least not yet. He holds a 5.87 ERA and 1.63 WHIP for the season but has, for the most part, pitched better of late.

Advice: It was another underwhelming outing for the 26-year-old right-hander. Hughes did not issue a walk and struck out three, but he surrendered a total of 10 hits and got no support from the Yankees offense. • Brandon Morrow (forearm) will make his first minor league rehab start Monday with High-A Dunedin.
Advice: Morrow, out since May 28 with a right forearm strain, is slated to throw 45-50 pitches. Assuming all goes well Monday, he's expected to test himself against more advanced competition in his next rehab start before coming off the disabled list. That would set him up for a return before the end of the month.

    • Brandon Morrow (forearm) threw 40 pitches in a bullpen session Friday.
Advice: Morrow has been sidelined since May 28 with a right forearm strain. He's scheduled to pitch in a game on Monday, though it isn't clear whether it will be a simulated game or an official rehab start. Either way, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons believes that he won't need more than two rehab stars before coming off the disabled list. It sounds like a return before the end of the month is realistic.

    • Luis Mendoza yielded four runs on four hits and three walks over just five innings in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.
Advice: Things turned sour in a hurry for Mendoza, who held the Tribe hitless through the first four frames. Michael Brantley took him deep to lead off the fifth, and Mendoza allowed the first five batters to reach in the sixth before getting yanked. Mendoza has mostly pitched well of late but still sports a 4.30 ERA and 1.45 WHIP for the season. He'll get the Braves at home next.

    • Luis Mendoza turned in a second consecutive strong outing in Friday's victory over the Rays, allowing just two runs on six hits over six innings of work.
Advice: Mendoza fanned three and walked two in the game. While he had gone more than a month since his last victory, Mendoza has been pitching very well for the Royals. Over his last eight starts, he owns a terrific 2.93 ERA. He'll look to extend his recent string of successes when he does battle against the Indians in Cleveland on Wednesday.

    • Kyle Kendrick deserved a win but was dealt a no-decision Wednesday, as he held the Nationals to one run on just two hits and a walk over 7 2/3 innings.
Advice: Kendrick struck out six and gave up only an Adam LaRoche single in the second and Jayson Werth RBI single in the seventh, but Jonathan Papelbon was unable to nail down the one-run victory. The outing comes after Kendrick's worst of the season, though that was at Coors Field and, thus, forgivable. He'll get the Padres in San Diego next.

  • Sat, Jun 15
    • Kyle Kendrick was knocked around for a season-high seven runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rockies.
Advice: Kendrick gave up 10 hits (including two home runs) and failed to register a strikeout. He had given up seven runs combined over his previous three outings, but a clunker at Coors Field shouldn't be considered shocking. Advice: Even Darvish's bad starts aren't all that bad, as he still managed to strike out 10 A's batters. • Kris Medlen allowed three runs -- one earned -- in seven innings as the Braves topped the Mets 5-3 on Wednesday.
Advice: Medlen bounced back from a loss his last time out to limit the Mets to just six hits in his seven innings. He also struck out seven while walking none, continuing a trend in his last six starts in which he has a 33:3 K:BB ratio. His performance of late is much more like the Medlen we saw in 2012 than it was earlier in the season. His next start is scheduled against the Royals in KC on Tuesday.

  • Fri, Jun 14
    • Kris Medlen allowed four runs on a season-high nine hits over six innings Friday in a loss to the Giants.
Advice: Medlen struck out four and walked none in the loss. This was the first time he had allowed more than three earned runs in a start since way back on April 27. There has been some speculation about Medlen moving to the bullpen, but any such talk will be put on hold now that Brandon Beachy's return has been delayed due to a tender elbow. • Randall Delgado yielded two runs in seven innings and struck out six Tuesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Advice: Delgado, who lost out on a rotation spot to Patrick Corbin this spring, was making his first start as a member of the Diamondbacks. He figures to get at least one more next week before a decision is made on his status. Since he won't be facing the Marlins again then (he could get the Reds on Sunday or the Nationals in the middle of the week), he won't be as good of a play in NL-only leagues.

Advice: Delgado is starting for the Snakes on Tuesday night against the Marlins. He has a troubling 5.91 ERA and 57/35 K/BB ratio in 64 innings this season at the Triple-A level and can't be trusted in standard fantasy leagues.

    • Nathan Eovaldi pitched six innings of two-run ball Tuesday against the Diamondbacks in his season debut.
Advice: Back from a shoulder injury, Eovaldi allowed just three hits tonight and he made it through six innings in a modest 84 pitches. That he's a Marlin really cuts into his fantasy upside -- wins will be very difficult to come by -- but he should have a little value in NL-only leagues anyway.

    • Chris Sale allowed four earned runs over five innings Wednesday as the White Sox lost to the Twins.
Advice: Sale battled bad defense, a comebacker that that hit him on the leg and a collision at first base with the Twins' Pedro Florimon. The left-hander should bounce back next week when he faces the Mets at home.

Advice: Rough. Sale allowed five hits (all of them singles) and walked just one, but two errors by Alexei Ramirez in the fifth inning were enough to put him in line for the loss. The White Sox have scored three runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. Still, Sale owns a dominant 2.43 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 86/19 K/BB ratio over 85 1/3 innings this season. Otherwise he was fairly effective, limiting the Blue Jays to a total of four hits and a walk on the night.
