• Freddie Freeman swats three-run homer in win
Freddie Freeman walloped a three-run homer on Thursday in the Dodgers’ win over the Pirates.

Advice: Freeman followed singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in the opening frame with a no-doubter down the right-field line off Pirates starter Bailey Falter. The 34-year-old first baseman has gone deep twice in his last four contests and is up to eight big flies on the year to go along with a .294 batting average and 38 RBI through 64 games. • CES (wrist) set to resume baseball activities
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break. • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swats three-run homer in win
Vladimir Guerrero popped a three-run homer Thursday to help the Blue Jays to a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Vladdy Jr. gave Cade Povich a rude introduction during Povich’s MLB debut with a three-run blast in the third. The 25-year-old also drew a walk and singled. Guerrero Jr. has made loads of hard contact and certainly has been a contributor in the average category with a .295 RBI, but it’s great to see the infielder start to drive the baseball on a more consistent basis as of late. • Swipes bag in loss
Freeman went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run against Pittsburgh in a loss Wednesday.

Advice: Freeman has been much less active on the basepaths this season -- he's attempted just four steals (with three successes) after going 23-for-24 last year. That 2023 performance was likely an aberration, as the 23 thefts were 10 more than his previous career-high mark. Freeman's other numbers are mostly down so far this season as well, but he's still been quite productive with a .294/.397/.476 slash line, seven homers, 17 doubles, 35 RBI and and 36 runs through 63 contests. • On bench with lefty starting
Raley is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Raley will join fellow lefty-hitting regulars Dominic Canzone and Josh Rojas on the bench while the Athletics send southpaw JP Sears to the bump. Victor Robles will open the game in Raley's usual spot in left field in what will be the former's first start with the Mariners since he signed with the team Tuesday after being released by the Nationals. • Back to bench Thursday
Davis is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Davis had started at first base in both of the Athletics' previous two matchups with right-handed pitchers, going 2-for-7 with a pair of singles. Though the Mariners are bringing another righty (Bryan Woo) to the hill for Thursday's series finale, Davis will cede his spot in the lineup to Tyler Soderstrom. The Athletics could elect to rotate Davis, Soderstrom and Aledmys Diaz at first base until one of the three begins performing well enough to take control of an everyday role. • Absent from lineup versus lefty
O'Hearn isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Advice: Southpaw Yusei Kikuchi is drawing the start for the Blue Jays, which means the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will head to the bench for the series finale. Adley Rutschman will get a start at designated hitter while James McCann handles the catching duties. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:31 am

  • Joey Gallo plates lone run in loss to Mets
Joey Gallo went 1-for-2 and drove in the Nationals’ lone run in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Mets.

Advice: Gallo led off the sixth inning with a single but was quickly erased on a double play ball. He then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly off of Luis Severino in the eighth inning to finally get the Nats on the board. The 30-year-old slugger has been about as expected this season — hitting .164/.285/.336 with five homers, 11 RBI and a 65/19 K/BB ratio over 151 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:38 pm

  • Sitting against lefty
Kirilloff isn't in the Twins' lineup Wednesday against the Yankees.

Advice: With left-hander Carlos Rodon set to take the mound for New York, Kirilloff will retreat into the dugout Wednesday. Willi Castro will move to right field as a result, allowing Kyle Farmer to start at second base while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:36 pm
