    Valdez tossed a complete game to earn the win Friday over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over nine innings.

    Advice: The Astros' bullpen was fairly fresh, but Valdez took care of business himself in his seventh career complete game. The lone mistake on his line was a Kevin Pillar solo home run in the second inning. Valdez has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and his strong performance Friday lowered his ERA to 3.53 with a 1.15 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB over 63.2 innings through 10 starts this season.     Bassitt allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

    Advice: Bassitt tamed one of his former teams, but reliever Chad Green gave up a walk-off hit in the ninth inning. In his longest outing of the year, Bassitt threw 71 of 102 pitches for strikes. He's limited opponents to one run or fewer in five of his 13 starts this season, pitching to a 3.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 70:28 K:BB through 73.1 innings.     Miller (1-0) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

    Advice: The win was Miller's first in the majors, which came in his 32nd career appearance. He kept the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the ninth inning before JJ Bleday swatted a walk-off solo home run in the Athletics' half of the frame. While Miller's been scored on in three of his last six outings, he's still sporting a 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings this season.     Harris allowed three hits and two walks while striking out three over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Friday.

    Advice: Harris did well in his second start of the season, which ended up being a pitching duel against Toronto's Chris Bassitt. Harris previous allowed three runs (one earned) and struck out seven over 5.2 innings versus the Rays last Thursday. He's at a 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four appearances (two starts) this season. The southpaw looks to have done enough to maintain his spot in the rotation for a road start versus the Padres next week.   • Austin Gomber allows four over five vs. Cardinals
    Austin Gomber didn’t qualify for a decision after allowing four runs in five innings Friday against the Cardinals.

    Advice: Gomber — a former St. Louis prospect who came to the Rockies in the Nolan Arenado deal — gave up six hits with one walk, and he struck out four. The left-hander gave up three runs in the first, and while he settled down over the final four frames, the damage was enough to prevent him from picking up a win or a Quality Start.   • Daniel Lynch IV allows seven in first
    Daniel Lynch IV went four innings while allowing eight runs, but didn’t factor into the decision against the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: Generally when you give up a seven-spot in the first, you take home a loss. The score would end up being 8-0 after he left, but Kansas City completed an epic comeback to prevent the L. Still, it was a terrible start for Lynch IV that saw him allow six hits and four walks, and he needed 93 pitches to get those 12 outs. A former top prospect, Lynch IV will get win chances with this Kansas City offense, but the lack of consistent success makes him hard to use in fantasy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 pm
     
  • Bryce Miller struggles over five in no-decision
    Bryce Miller gave up seven runs in five innings but didn’t factor in the decision against the Royals on Friday.

    Advice: Miller was handed an 8-0 lead, but he nearly gave it all back himself. The right-hander walked three while allowing eight hits — including a three-run homer to MJ Melendez — and he struck out just one in his worst start of the season. Miller has mostly looked the part, but this one sees his ERA jump up to 3.81. There are still things hear to figure out before he’s an elite fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm
     
  • Ryan allows two runs in loss Friday
    Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Pirates on Friday night.



    Advice: Ryan gave up two hits, walked two and struck out eight. The runs against Ryan came on an Oneil Cruz solo home run and a sacrifice fly by Nick Gonzales. He pitched well but didn’t get any run support from the Twins lineup. Ryan had won three of his last five previous starts. His ERA is now 3.30 on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.

  • Keller stellar again, picks up eighth win Friday
    Mitch Keller threw six shutout innings and got the win in the Pirates’ 3-0 victory over the Twins on Friday.



    Advice: Keller gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out eight. The win was his eighth of the season. Keller has now won six starts in a row and all of them have been quality starts. His ERA is 1.13 over his last six starts with a .226 average allowed. Keller now has a 3.16 ERA and SO:BB of 74:22 in 13 starts this year. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cardinals on the road next week.
