    Advice: Whitlock performed well during his outing Wednesday, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out five batters, but his elbow may cause his return to the Red Sox to be postponed. The plan was to have him rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation next week, but that’s obviously on hold for now.   • Astros option Shawn Dubin to Triple-A on Friday
    Astros optioned RHP Shawn Dubin to Triple-A Sugar Land.

    Advice: The 28-year-old hurler took one for the team on Thursday night, saving a depleted bullpen by working the final three innings against the Athletics and recording his first career save. That means he wasn’t going to be available for a few days though, which means he gets sent out so the Astros can bring in a fresh arm.
