    • Evan Longoria is back at third base for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Advice: Longoria served as the DH over the weekend while he was nursing some plantar fasciitis in his right foot. While he's obviously feeling better, it's possible he'll be back in the DH spot for the second game of the doubleheader.

    • Evan Longoria is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Advice: Longoria will serve as the DH on Friday, and there's a chance he could stay there throughout the weekend series against the Royals. Monitor the situation closely in fantasy leagues.

    • Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and three runs scored as the Red Sox beat the Rays 5-1 in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Advice: Ellsbury didn't steal any bases, but that's OK; he's batting .347 with 10 steals and 12 runs scored in 11 games this month. He'll be in center field again for the nightcap versus the Rays.

    • Rays manager Joe Maddon spoke to Alex Cobb (concussion), who said there's no timetable for his return.
Advice: Cobb was diagnosed with a concussion after he was hit in the head by a line drive on Saturday and is currently on the 7-day disabled list. He'll have to be cleared by MLB before returning to action and Maddon isn't ready to say for sure when that might be. It could be a lengthy absence.

    • Alex Cobb (concussion) will not travel with the Rays on their upcoming seven-game road trip.
Advice: Cobb was diagnosed with a mild concussion at Bayfront Medical Center after being hit in the head by an Eric Hosmer line drive Saturday at Tropicana Field. He has been placed on the 7-day disabled list and will miss at least one turn in the Rays' starting rotation. The young right-hander has registered a fantastic 3.01 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 76/23 K/BB ratio in 83 2/3 innings this season.

    • Rays placed RHP Alex Cobb on the 7-day disabled list with a concussion.
Advice: The news is all good with Cobb, as he "only" has a mild concussion and will be released from the hospital Sunday. Still, it's no surprise that the Rays are playing it cautiously and disabling him. There's no timetable for when he'll rejoin the rotation.

    • Jeremy Hellickson told reporters that Alex Cobb was "acting normal" in the hospital on Saturday night.
Advice: "He's the same old Cobb right now," said Hellickson. "He's laughing and joking." Cobb was carted off the field on a stretcher Saturday after taking an Eric Hosmer line drive off the right side of his head. The right-hander has been diagnosed with a "mild" concussion and will remain at Bayfront Medical Center overnight for observation. He seems likely to sit out for at least a week.

    • Joakim Soria (elbow, pectoral) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday with Double-A Frisco.
Advice: Soria has thrown multiple bullpen sessions and rounds of live batting practice this month, reporting no issues with his surgically-repaired elbow. He could join the Rangers' bullpen by the end of this month.

    • Joakim Soria (elbow, pectoral) hopes to begin a minor league rehab assignment as soon as Thursday.
Advice: Soria has made it through multiple batting practice sessions without incident and appears ready to progress to game action. Pitchers are permitted to have a 30-day rehab window and Soria figures to need most of it as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. He could provide a nice boost for the Rangers' bullpen during the second half.

    • Joakim Soria (elbow) successfully threw live batting practice on the field before Friday's game.
Advice: He will throw another session on Monday, and will then be reassessed by the team. If all goes well then, he could be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. The Rangers are hoping that he'll be able to rejoin their bullpen at some point in the next month. While he won't be an option initially, he could soon work his way into a primary setup role behind Joe Nathan.

    • Brandon Morrow (forearm) suffered a physical setback Monday in his rehab start at High-A Dunedin.
Advice: Morrow will have his forearm reexamined this week. He did not look sharp in the outing, allowing three runs in two innings, and can now be considered out indefinitely.

    • Brandon Morrow (forearm) will make his first minor league rehab start Monday with High-A Dunedin.
Advice: Morrow, out since May 28 with a right forearm strain, is slated to throw 45-50 pitches. Assuming all goes well Monday, he's expected to test himself against more advanced competition in his next rehab start before coming off the disabled list. That would set him up for a return before the end of the month.

    • Brandon Morrow (forearm) threw 40 pitches in a bullpen session Friday.
Advice: Morrow has been sidelined since May 28 with a right forearm strain. He's scheduled to pitch in a game on Monday, though it isn't clear whether it will be a simulated game or an official rehab start. Either way, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons believes that he won't need more than two rehab stars before coming off the disabled list. It sounds like a return before the end of the month is realistic.

    • Ubaldo Jimenez allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Tuesday.
Advice: Jimenez was a mixed bag on Tuesday. Two runs allowed on just two hits? Good. Four walks and four strikeouts? Not so good. The right-hander's end results have looked alright his past few starts, but the underlying numbers still make him a crapshoot every time he goes out. His next start will come Monday against a tough Orioles lineup in Baltimore.

    • Nick Tepesch lasted just 3 2/3 innings and gave up six runs to the A's in a loss Monday.
Advice: Tepesch's time in the rotation may soon come to an end. He's given up 17 runs over 15 2/3 innings in his last three starts, and he hasn't picked up a win since beating Houston on May 12. The Rangers might give him one more chance, but if he doesn't improve, he could be replaced by Martin Perez.

    • Patrick Corbin hurled eight innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Marlins on Monday.
Advice: He gave up just two hits, striking out seven and walking one. Corbin was outstanding outside of a two-run mistake Giancarlo Stanton deposited into the left-field seats in the seventh. Corbin remains a perfect 9-0, to go with an outstanding 2.28 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, but Monday marked the first time Arizona has lost one of his starts. The Snakes are now 13-1 with Corbin on the mound in 2013.

Advice: Kemp is making progress, but there's no timetable for him to begin a rehab assignment. The Dodgers have already ruled out his return until at least June 24, but it sounds like it will come later than that.

    • Matt Kemp (hamstring) will not be activated during the Dodgers' current roadtrip.

    • Despite giving up a homer for a second straight outing, Edward Mujica picked up his 20th save in 20 chances Monday in the Cardinals' 5-2 defeat of the Cubs.
Advice: Mujica gave up a homer to Marlon Byrd on Thursday and another to Darwin Barney tonight, but he's yet to allow one in a one-run game. All four homers he's given up this year have been solo shots. It helps a lot that he hasn't walked a batter since April 3.

Advice: Another step in the right direction for the left-handed starter, who suffered a sprained right knee when he collapsed on the mound after being in the head by a line drive last month. He should be ready to return to live major league games in early-to-mid July.

Advice: Happ resumed throwing bullpen sessions last week. The southpaw landed on the DL last month after he was hit in the head by a line drive, but he's also dealing with a sprained right knee. Barring any setbacks, look for him to return around the All-Star break.

    • Shelby Miller left Monday's start against the Cubs after five innings with a right leg cramp.
Advice: Miller was examined by trainers after stretching out his calf on the mound with one out in the fifth. He stayed in and retired the next two hitters but was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the frame. The youngster should be fine for his next outing, which will come against the Rangers this weekend. He tossed five scoreless innings on two hits and two walks while striking out five before exiting.
