• Brenton Doyle homers twice to lead Rockies
Brenton Doyle homered twice, doubled and walked Monday as the Rockies edged the Brewers 8-7 in 10 innings.

Advice: Doyle’s second homer tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder was dropped from second to seventh in the Rockies lineup before the game, presumably because he’d hit .200/.225/.292 in his previous 16 games. The two homers gave him nine or the year, and he also swiped his 20th base. We’re not big believers in Doyle’s offense from an OPS standpoint, but with Coors Field helping him along, he likely will have lasting value in mixed leagues. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games). He should prove pretty useful in mixed leagues the rest of the way. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Garrett Mitchell reaches twice in 2024 debut
Garrett Mitchell singled and walked in three plate appearances off the bench in his season debut Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: The single was hit 108 mph, so this was definitely a nice start for Mitchell. It’ll take consistent playing time to make him a factor in mixed leagues, so he’s probably not an option right now. He offers plenty of upside, though. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago
  • Cracks 10th homer
Contreras went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss at Colorado.

Advice: The 26-year-old drew the start at designated hitter and reached double-digit homers for the third consecutive season with a solo shot off Austin Gomber. Contreras also collected his team-leading 20th double of the season. Overall, The Milwaukee star is now slashing .296/.355/.451 with 51 RBI and 59 runs scored across 369 plate appearances. • Monster performance in win
Doyle went 3-for-4 with a homer, a steal, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Brewers.

Advice: The Colorado centerfielder opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. Doyle added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI. • Slugs go-ahead homer in extras
Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.

Advice: The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer. The veteran power hitter now sports a .278 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 22 runs scored in 209 at-bats overall. Rotowire.com Today, 8:07 pm

  • Collects first hit in debut
Wood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up. • J.D. Martinez homers in 10th to propel Mets
J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the 10th and walked twice Monday as the Mets bested the Nationals 9-7.

Advice: This was a 3-3 game through nine, but Martinez broke the game open with his homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th. The Mets went on to score three more times in the frame, which proved important after the Nationals came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Martinez’s homer was his 10th in 239 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 7:32 pm

  • James Wood singles, walks in MLB debut
James Wood singled and walked in five plate appearances in his major league debut Monday against the Mets.

Advice: The single came in his first big-league bat, as he managed to power a two-strike fastball through the left side of the infield (it helped a great deal that, because the Mets were shifted, it was Mark Vientos trying to field the grounder, rather than Francisco Lindor). Three of Wood’s four balls in play tonight were hit hard; in addition to the 107-mph single, he had a 96-mph lineout and a 95-mph groundout. Rotoworld Today, 7:32 pm
