    • Kenley Jansen earns second save in two days
      Kenley Jansen earned his second save in two days with a scoreless ninth Sunday against the Reds.

      Advice: It’s Jansen’s 15th save of the year and No. 435 in his career. Jansen and Chris Martin both pitched for the second straight day today, so unless the Red Sox are willing to go to one of them three days in a row, Justin Slaten might get the ninth in a save situation Monday.       Jansen earned a a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

      Advice: Jansen worked around a two-out single to close out his 10th straight successful save. The veteran closer has posted a 22:3 K:BB over 18.2 innings during that span while posting a 2.41 ERA. Jansen continues to get the job done in his 15th MLB season -- he's converted 14 of 15 save opportunities while registering a 2.49 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 25.1 frames.     • Allows three runs in 4.1 frames
      Pivetta took a no-decision Saturday against Cincinnati, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: All three of the runs allowed by Pivetta came via the long ball -- Spencer Steer tagged him for a two-run homer in the first inning, and Elly De La Cruz launched a solo shot in the third. Pivetta didn't damage his ERA too dramatically, but he exited after 4.1 innings after racking up 96 pitches. It was the third time over his past six starts that he's failed to complete five frames, though the right-hander also has a pair of seven-inning quality starts during that span.       Kenley Jansen tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Reds on Saturday.

    • Pivetta allows three in no-decision against Reds
      Nick Pivetta allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday.

      Advice: Pivetta gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He was on the hook for the loss before a late comeback by the Red Sox offense. It was another pedestrian start from Pivetta that might be becoming a trend. In his first eight starts of the year, he had 51 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. In his last three starts, he’s had just 13 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home next weekend.

      Helsley picked up the save over the Giants on Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out two.

      Advice: Helsley took over in the ninth to protect a one-run lead and proceeded to walk the leadoff man while also coughing up a single three batters later. However, the right-hander rebounded nicely, striking out Matt Chapman to stop the late rally and earn his league-leading 25th save of the season.     • Ryan Helsley secures MLB-leading 25th save
      Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Giants to record his major league-leading 25th save of the season.

      Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a narrow one-run lead at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Trenton Brooks and surrendering a two-out single to Patrick Bailey, which put the potential tying run in scoring position. He managed to wriggle out of the jam by striking out Matt Chapman to extinguish the threat. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty has converted 25 of 26 save chances this season to go along with a sparkling 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38/13 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (33 appearances).       Yates earned a save against the Mets on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Yates protected a two-run Texas lead in the top of the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on 16 pitches. The veteran reliever is a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season -- no closer in baseball has converted more saves without blowing any opportunities.
