    • Rafael Devers powers Red Sox past Yankees Sunday
Rafael Devers blasted a pair of solo home runs on Sunday night, powering the Red Sox to a 3-0 victory and a series win over the Yankees in New York.

Advice: With the two bitter rivals mired in a scoreless tie heading to the seventh inning, Devers finally broke through as he lined a 2-2 fastball from Luis Gil over the wall in left-center for a 373-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot. He then crushed a 423-foot (107.0 mph EV) bomb off of Michael Tonkin in the ninth that made it 3-0. The 27-year-old All-Star third baseman also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .293/.378/.593 to go along with 21 homers and 55 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

    • Luis Gil fans nine Red Sox in tough-luck loss
Luis Gil was outstanding in a tough-luck loss against the Red Sox on Sunday night, racking up nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler scattered just four hits on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He was engaged in a scoreless pitcher’s duel with Kutter Crawford until he served up an opposite-field solo homer to Rafael Devers in the seventh inning. Gil generated 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches in the ballgame — seven on his fastball and six on his slider — while posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine outing and finish the first half strong as he brings a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 111/48 K/BB ratio (96 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Orioles in Baltimore on Saturday. • Christian Yelich homers, plates three to lead Crew
Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs scored and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Brewers to a 9-2 rout of the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Advice: Yelich opened the scoring in Sunday’s contest with a 418-foot (107.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of rookie left-hander Justin Wrobleski in the fourth inning. He then singled and scored on a two-run knock by Blake Perkins in the eighth inning. Yelich also tacked on an RBI double in the ninth and scored on a double by Garrett Mitchell. He’s having an outstanding season in the middle of the Brewers’ lineup, slashing .329/.407/.533 with 11 homers, 41 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:12 pm
    • Remains in rotation
Baz is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Yankees at Tropicana Field.

Advice: Baz will make a second straight turn through the Tampa Bay rotation as he continues to fill the spot that belonged to Aaron Civale, who was traded to the Brewers last week. After being called up from Triple-A Durham on Friday to make his first start for the Rays since July 10, 2022, Baz struck out six while allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings in a loss to the Rangers. Though he maintains a hold on a rotation spot for now, Baz could still be at some risk of losing out on a starting role once Jeffrey Springs (elbow) eventually returns from the 60-day injured list. • Tosses sim game, rehab start next
Kershaw (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game Sunday in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reports. "It was good to see him throw two innings. We accomplished what we wanted to," manager Dave Roberts said after Kershaw's workout.

Advice: Kershaw has resided on the injured list all season after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder last November, but he looks like he could be ready to make his 2024 debut for the Dodgers at some point within the next month. The 36-year-old had previously made a three-inning rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on June 19, but he was then shut down from throwing for the next week after experiencing lingering soreness in his shoulder. According to Roberts, Kershaw is in line to resume his rehab assignment next Saturday, likely with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Kershaw is expected to cover three innings in that outing, and he's likely to require at least tow rehab starts beyond that one before the Dodgers bring him back from the 60-day IL. • Not starting Sunday
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel will hit the bench after making 12 straight starts, and he posted a .320/.333/.600 slash line with seven extra-base hits and 11 RBI during that span. Jake McCarthy will receive a start in left field Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:09 pm
    • Sitting Sunday
Rodriguez (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays but could be available as a pinch hitter, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old was removed early in Saturday's contest due to discomfort in his lower right quadricep, though it doesn't appear he's dealing with a serious injury. Rodriguez may be available off the bench, but the Mariners could play it safe and give him a couple days to rest up as the team has a scheduled day off Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 am

    • Kershaw (shoulder) throws two simulated innings
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw two simulated innings before Sunday’s game.

Advice: Kershaw continues to make progress from his shoulder surgery, and the left-hander is getting closer to a rehab appearance. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Kershaw’s next outing would aim for three simulated innings. Kershaw is expected back not long after the All-Star break. • MRI comes back clean on Rodríguez’s right quad
An MRI on Julio Rodríguez’s right quad showed no stuctural damage.

Advice: Rodríguez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, but the outfielder is being kept out for precautionary measures according to manager Scott Servais, and he could be available off the bench. Even with the 23-year-old struggling for most of the 2024 campaign, this is obviously welcome news to fantasy managers who hope to see better things from Rodríguez in the second half of 2024.
