    • Takes home All-Star MVP honors
Duran was named the MVP of Tuesday's All-Star Game after going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the American League's 5-3 win over the National League.

Advice: Entering the game in the top of the fifth inning as a replacement for starting center fielder Aaron Judge, Duran broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the frame, when he took Reds right-hander Hunter Greene deep to right center. The two-run blast held up as the difference in the American League's win, allowing Duran to become the first Red Sox player since J.D. Drew in 2008 to take home MVP honors in the Midsummer Classic. Duran earned his first All-Star nod after slashing .284/.342/.477 with 10 home runs and 22 stolen bases in 439 plate appearances during the first half. Rotowire.com Today, 8:40 am

    • Jarren Duran takes home All-Star Game MVP Award
Jarren Duran clobbered a go-ahead two-run homer to power the American League to a 5-3 victory over the National League during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Duran came off the bench to slingshot the American League ahead with a tape-measure 413-foot moonshot to right field off Reds ace Hunter Greene in the fifth inning, which was enough for him to earn him MVP Award honors. The 27-year-old outfielder’s metamorphosis into an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, tallying 47 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs, and 22 stolen bases through 95 games, has been a big reason why the Red Sox find themselves in the playoff race coming out of the All-Star break. • Replaced on All-Star roster
Helsley was replaced Monday on the National League All-Star Game roster with Nationals reliever Kyle Finnegan.

Advice: Per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Helsley said that he wasn't likely to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game and instead wished to get rest over the All-Star break. The 29-year-old closer confirmed he was healthy and is merely monitoring his workload, having already appeared in 41 games and thrown 42 innings this season. Helsley's career high in appearances is 54, and he hasn't pitched more than 64.2 innings in any individual season. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:46 pm

    • Helsley scratched, Finnegan added to NL All-Stars
Ryan Helsley has been scratched from the NL All-Star roster and will be replaced by Kyle Finnegan.

Advice: No immediate reason was given for Helsley’s removal. He had a busy first half, but considering that he’s pitched just once in the last 10 days, he’s pretty rested at the moment. It’s the first All-Star nod for Finnegan, who has a 2.45 ERA and 25 saves as the Nationals’ closer. Rotoworld Monday, 2:26 pm

    • Aiming to return by end of July
Trout (knee) has been swinging a bat as part of his rehab activities and is targeting a return from the 10-day injured list by the end of July, Jill Painter Lopez of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Trout hasn't yet done work in the outfield, but he's anticipating being able to rejoin the Angels at the end of July. The future Hall of Famer hasn't played in a game since going 0-for-3 against Philadelphia on April 29. It's not yet clear if he'll play in any minor-league rehab games prior to rejoining the big club. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:58 pm

    • Springs hit hard in rehab start on Sunday
Jeffrey Springs allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

Advice: We should always take minor league statlines with a grain of salt because we don’t know what pitchers are working on or how well the defense played behind them. It also was reported that Springs may have been battling a blister or a cut on his finger since he got checked out in the middle of the outing and kept pitching. Perhaps most importantly, Springs did throw 77 pitches in this game, which means he should be up over 80 in his next start, which is good news for his potential return. The Rays won’t rush him back but he may need only one more rehab appearance at most. Rotoworld Monday, 1:57 pm

    • Tosses 77 pitches in rehab start
Springs (elbow) covered 4.2 innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Durham, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

Advice: After turning in a 3.12 ERA and 21:1 K:BB in 17.1 innings over his first six rehab starts with Durham, Springs took a step back Sunday from a performance standpoint. More importantly, however, Springs tossed 77 pitches (51 strikes) in the outing, so he looks to be stretched out enough to rejoin the Tampa Bay rotation. The Rays have yet to offer an official word on the next step for the 31-year-old lefty as he nears the finish line in his recovery from his April 2023 Tommy John surgery, but fantasy managers in deeper leagues should be looking to stash Springs in anticipation of his return from the 60-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break. After moving into a full-time starting role with Tampa Bay beginning in May 2022, Springs delivered a 2.41 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 21.9 K-BB% over 138.1 innings before requiring elbow surgery. • Nets 16th save
Yates picked up the save Sunday against the Astros, allowing one run on a hit and a walk with no strikeouts across one inning.

Advice: While Yates advanced to 16-for-16 in save opportunities this season, he snapped his streak of eight consecutive scoreless innings. The 37-year-old walked Jon Singleton and yielded a single to Jeremy Pena to start the ninth frame, with Singleton eventually coming around to score on a groundout by Joey Loperfido. The outing bumped Yates' ERA from 0.81 to 1.05, and he has a 0.90 WHIP across 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:21 pm

    • Fires six shutout innings
Pepiot (6-5) yielded two hits over six scoreless frames Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the Guardians.

Advice: Pepiot gave up a pair of singles and plunked one batter but never faced much of a threat Sunday. He generated 12 swinging strikes, with six coming via the fastball. Pepiot has been fairly inconsistent in the first half of 2024 but owns a solid 3.92 ERA with a 94:31 K:BB through 17 appearances. Over his last four outings, he's registered a 1.71 ERA but has turned in just one quality start. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:24 pm
