  • Trevor Rogers goes six innings in loss to Rangers
    Trevor Rogers allowed four runs on six hits in six innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

    Advice: It wasn’t an awful outing for Rogers, who allowed three runs on four hits in the first inning before settling down. He threw four straight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, before giving up a solo home run to Adolis Garcia in the sixth inning. On the day, Rogers had 12 whiffs on 44 swings for a 27 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW.   • Victor Caratini homers in loss to Twins
    Victor Caratini, starting behind the plate for Houston for the third time in four games, hit his fourth homer Sunday against the Twins.

    Advice: He nearly had a second; his 401-foot fly to right-center in the seventh would have been a homer in 20 ballparks, according to Statcast. We still like Yainer Díaz, but Caratini is certainly one of the game’s top-30 catchers and really should have landed a starting job as a free agent over the winter.     Gurriel (illness) will start in left field and bat third Sunday against the Mets.

    Advice: The veteran outfielder was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to flu-like symptoms, but he's back in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale in Queens.   • Moves down in order vs. lefty
    Friedl batted seventh and went 0-for-1 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Cubs. He was also hit by a pitch.

    Advice: Friedl, who had batted leadoff since returning from a thumb injury Wednesday, was lowered to seventh in the order Saturday. That's due to the Reds facing a left-hander for the first time since his return. Friedl is 1-for-9 with four walks, one steal and one run scored since being activated off the injured list.   • Yandy Díaz triples, drives in three in loss
    Yandy Díaz went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI against the Orioles on Saturday.

    Advice: Díaz brought two runs in to score with a line drive off the right field wall as he legged out a triple in the second inning. He was credited with a third RBI after drawing a bases-loaded walk in the third. The 32-year-old first baseman is slashing .243/.320/.350 with four homers and 28 RBI across 253 plate appearances.     Gurriel was scratched from Arizona's lineup ahead of Saturday's game versus the Mets.

    Adolis García went 0-for-4 as the Rangers’ cleanup man Friday against the Marlins.

    Advice: This has turned into quite a slump for García; he’s batting .164 in 110 at-bats since Apr. 25. The Rangers still don’t have much reason to drop him out of the cleanup spot, since most of the hitters behind him are struggling, too.     Royals recalled RHP Will Klein from Triple-A Omaha.
