      Peralta (6-4) picked up the win Sunday against the Cubs, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings.

      Advice: Peralta yielded a solo home run to Nico Hoerner in the opening frame, but the 28-year-old was locked in afterwards, yielding just one other hit to notch his seventh quality start of the season. The right-hander has shown an impressive ability to miss bats, registering an 11.6 K/9 that ranks in the 95th percentile. Despite the lofty strikeout totals, Peralta has been mildly disappointing this season, logging a pedestrian 3.83 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 94 innings.     • Rounding into form
      Cole (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits, a walk and two hit batsmen over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out six.

      Advice: Cole continues to struggle with his command as he rounds into form following a two-plus month stint on the IL with a nerve irritation in his elbow, but Sunday's performance represented a major step in the right direction. After walking four and allowing four homers in his previous start, Cole allowed a single run in the third, then struck out three of the last six batters he faced as he sent the Blue Jays down in order in the fourth and fifth innings to close out his day. The five innings pitched, 90 pitches thrown, one run allowed and six strikeouts each represented a season-best total for Cole, who continues to inch his way back toward his normal workload.     • Corey Seager absent due to hand injury
      Corey Seager, who hurt his left hand when he was hit by a pitch Saturday, is out of the Rangers lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Orioles.

      Advice: Josh Smith starts at shortstop, with Davis Wendzel playing third base. The good news is that Seager isn’t going on the IL, at least not yet. The Rangers have tomorrow off, so they can wait until Tuesday to make a decision there. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:41 pm

    • Peralta strikes out eight, picks up sixth win
      Freddy Peralta allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Brewer’s 7-1 victory over the Cubs on Sunday.

      Advice: Peralta gave up two hits, walked two and struck out eight. It was his sixth win of the season and third in June. Peralta has completed at least six innings and struck out eight batters in two of his last three starts. That’s a real positive considering that before that stretch he had completed six innings in just one of his previous six starts. Peralta has a 3.83 ERA on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander has a tough matchup against the Dodgers on the road next weekend.

    • Gerrit Cole wins, rights ship against Blue Jays
      Gerrit Cole scattered three hits and a walk across five innings on Sunday in an 8-1 win over the Blue Jays. He allowed one run and struck out six.

      Advice: This was the first time this season Cole looked like himself. His fastball velocity was much more consistent than it had been in either of his first two starts and he showed no hesitation in challenging the Blue Jays hitters with it. He also showed better command of his secondaries and the Yankees let him work all the way up to 90 pitches. While not perfect, this was the kind of start we needed to see from Cole.       Seager (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

      Advice: The 30-year-old had X-rays come back negative after being struck in the left wrist by a pitch Saturday, and he'll miss at least one start. The Rangers are calling up Jonathan Ornelas for added infield depth, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, which could signify that Seager will miss some time.     • Earns third save
      Chapman gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning but still managed to pick up his third save Sunday against Atlanta.

      Advice: Chapman came in with a three-run lead in the ninth and worked in and out of trouble to grab his second save in his last four appearances. The veteran has taken over the Pirates' ninth-inning role since losing closer David Bednar to an oblique injury June 19th.     • Aroldis Chapman gets save despite allowing run
      Aroldis Chapman allowed a run but still picked up a save Sunday against Atlanta.

      Advice: Chapman gave up a sacrifice fly to Orlando Arcia, but it still left Atlanta down 4-2. It didn’t change the outcome of the game, but it did hurt his ERA, which climbed to 3.87.     • Two doubles in loss
      Soler went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Soler doubled in his first at-bat before coming around to score the Giants' first run of the game on a sac fly from Heliot Ramos. The slugger then added an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2 in the third, giving him three extra-base hits over his last three games. Soler is now batting .275 this month -- a far cry from his .164 average in May -- with three homers, eight doubles, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:16 am
