    • Homer, steal in win
Chapman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman's power has come back, as he has three extra-base hits -- including two homers -- over his last five games. The third baseman gave the Giants their first lead Friday with his sixth-inning blast. For the season, up to 10 homers, 35 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven steals while posting a .235/.316/.399 slash line over 80 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 10:37 pm

    • Fans seven in no-decision
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Friday's 7-2 win over the Astros, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The southpaw tossed an inefficient 93 pitches (54 strikes) before getting the hook after allowing a leadoff single to Yordan Alvarez in the fifth inning. Quintana has failed to pitch more than four innings in three of his last five outings, but he hasn't given up more than three runs in eight straight, posting a 3.70 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB in 41.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to give the Mets more length in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 pm

    • Confirmed for start Saturday
The Diamondbacks will reinstate Gallen (hamstring) from the injured list to start Saturday's game against Oakland, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: After spending nearly a full month on the injured list thanks to a right hamstring strain, Gallen will officially return to the D-backs' rotation Saturday. He never appeared in a rehab game with one of Arizona's minor-league affiliates, though he did throw a handful of simulated games, reaching 67 pitches in his most recent session Monday. It's unclear if the 28-year-old righty will be operating under a pitch/innings restriction during his first start back, but he will certainly have a favorable matchup against an Oakland offense that ranks 28th in MLB in runs scored (305). • Matt Chapman homers, steals base in victory
Matt Chapman stole a base and hit a two-run homer in a win for the Giants on Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman hit a two-run homer off Daniel Hudson for his 10th homer of the season, and he stole his seventh bag of the year for good measure. The 31-year-old has been a mild disappointment thus far in 2024 — depending on expectations, of course — with a .235/.316/.399 slash, but the homers and steals have help balance things out a bit. • Jose Quintana chased in fifth inning
Jose Quintana allowed two earned runs in four-plus innings on Friday against the Astros. He struck out seven and walked three in a no-decision.

Advice: Quintana has struck out 15 batters in his last two starts. He’s also been throwing far more curveballs over his last two starts, 33% and 23% respectively after throwing it under 20% of the time so far this season. While the strikeouts are a nice development, he still nibbles outside the zone far too much to regularly pitch deep into games. Rotoworld Today, 7:20 pm

    • No structural damage in knee
Winker said after Friday's game versus Tampa Bay that imaging revealed no structural damage in his right knee, and he's hopeful that he'll be able to play Saturday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Winker tweaked his knee after his foot got caught in the outfield turf while running down a flyball during the first inning. He had to come out of the game early and was noticeably limping as he walked into the dugout, though it appears he managed to avoid a significant injury. Should Winker have to sit out Saturday's game, Ildemaro Vargas would be a likely candidate to start in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 7:07 pm

    • Jesse Winker leaves game with knee issue Friday
Jesse Winker was pulled from Friday night’s contest against the Rays

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder injured his knee while making a terrific catch in the outfield to end the home half of the first inning. Fortunately, he avoided any structural damage and is hopeful that he’ll be able to return to the Nationals’ lineup on Saturday. For now, he should be considered day-to-day. Rotoworld Today, 6:57 pm

    • Early exit Friday
Winker was removed from Friday's game against the Rays with what appears to be a right ankle injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker sustained the injury running into the wall while tracking down a flyball in the first inning. Though he was able to walk off under his own power, he sported a noticeable limp. Ildemaro Vargas replaced Winker in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 4:20 pm

    • Swing test pushed back
Jung (wrist) will have his swing test pushed back to Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Jung was slated to swing a bat Friday, but he'll have that evaluation pushed back a day. He has been on the injured list since April 2 with a fractured right wrist, and his rehab program with Triple-A Round Rock was shut down due to tendon inflammation. Jung could be activated off the injured list soon if his swing test Saturday goes well, though he'll likely be eased back into the action with planned off days if he does return.
