    • Getting afternoon off
Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Altuve is on the bench for just the second time all season and the first time since May 12 in what looks to be nothing more than a routine maintenance day. Mauricio Dubon will step in at second base for Altuve, who is currently in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Adames, Contreras both get first day of season off
Willy Adames is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: For the first time all season, Adames will get day off. This is also true for William Contreras, as the catcher/backstop is getting a chance to enjoy a game from the bench for the first time. In Adames’ place, the Brewers will give a start at shortstop to Joey Ortiz, while Andruw Monastario is the starting designated hitter with Gary Sanchez behind the plate. • Receiving first day off
Adames is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Adames started the first 58 games of the season at shortstop for the Brewers but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Chicago. The 28-year-old has carried a hot bat over the past 11 contests with two homers, 13 RBI and a 1.100 OPS in 43 at-bats. Joey Ortiz will shift to shortstop while Oliver Dunn receives a start at third base. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

    • Goes deep in Saturday's win
Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-5 win against Cincinnati.

Advice: Swanson started June off on the right foot after only going deep once in 17 games all of last month. The shortstop has only five total home runs this season, but he also missed some time with knee soreness, which likely contributed to the slow start. If fully healthy, Swanson has the ability to get going in the power department, as he hit 20 or more long balls in each of the last three seasons with the Cubs and Atlanta. • Escapes with no-decision Saturday
Bradish came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Rays, giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander wasn't at his sharpest, but he mostly got pecked to death as only one of the hits off him went for extra bases, a triple by Yandy Diaz in the second inning. Bradish got more than enough run support to avoid his first loss of the season, however. He'll take a 3.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 28.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 4:34 am

    • Struggles with control Saturday
Steele allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Saturday.

Advice: Steele's fantasy stat line wasn't disastrous since only one of the five runs charged to him was earned, but he was far from sharp, especially in terms of control. The southpaw hit a batter in addition to issuing a season-high four walks, and he threw just 58 of 98 pitches for strikes. Steele is usually much better at limiting free passes -- before Saturday, he had issued only seven walks over six starts -- so this was likely just a bump in the road for him. He's been decent with a 4.10 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 37.1 innings this season but has yet to pick up a win. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm

    • Swanson hits fifth home run Saturday
Dansby Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Swanson’s two-run home run in the eighth inning was the difference in the Cubs’ 7-5 victory over the Reds. It was his fifth home run of the season. Swanson is due to improve at the plate at some point as his .208 batting average is the worst of his career and his .131 ISO is his worst since his first full MLB campaign in 2017. • Belts 19th long ball
Tucker went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in a 5-2 win against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Tucker hit one of four homers against Minnesota starter Joe Ryan with a solo shot in the third inning. It was the 19th long ball of the campaign for the outfielder, second in the majors behind Aaron Judge (21). Tucker is easily on pace to surpass the career-best mark of 30 homers he established in both 2021 and 2022. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:32 pm

    • Steele allows five runs in no-decision
Justin Steele allowed five runs (one earned) in five innings and got a no-decision in the Cubs’ 7-5 victory over the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Steele gave up seven hits, walked four and struck out five. He seemed to be turning a corner with seven shutout innings in his last start, but this was a setback for Steele. Even though most of the runs were unearned, he’s now allowed at least five runs in four of his last five starts. Steele has completed six innings in only two of his seven starts this year. His ERA was mostly spared in this one and now sits at 4.10 for the season, but when you add it all up this isn’t a recipe for winning games right now. The 28-year-old left-hander will look to improve against the Reds on the road next week.
