    Advice: Pivetta was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to April 6 and could return Sunday, but he's not yet ready to help the Red Sox in their current rotation bind. Garrett Whitlock (oblique) joined Pivetta on the IL on Wednesday. It's likely Pivetta would need at least one rehab start before rejoining the club.   • Struggles in season debut
    Swanson (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing three runs on three hits in a third of an inning.

    Advice: After Jordan Romano pitched Tuesday, Swanson was brought in to protect a two-run lead in the ninth in his 2024 debut. The right-hander let up a lead-off homer to Giancarlo Stanton followed by two more hits. Swanson would coax a groundout from Oswaldo Cabrera before he was replaced by Tim Mayza, who allowed both inherited runners to score. While it was a rough start to the year for Swanson, it's telling that he was immediately thrust into a high-leverage role.     Abreu started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and stolen base in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Cleveland.

    Advice: Abreu swiped a bag for the third consecutive game and fourth consecutive start; he ranks second on the team with four stolen bases. He has a history of high-volume attempted steals in the minors, so this flurry is not out of character. Red Sox manager Alex Cora indicated earlier in the week that Abreu will be in the lineup against right-handers for the time being, which puts him on the fantasy radar.     Marte went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs.

    Advice: Marte led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run, jumping on the first pitch he saw from Jordan Wicks to give the Diamondbacks an early 1-0 lead. He then doubled in his next at-bat to lead off the third and singled home a run in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2. The second baseman continues to swing a hot bat and has now recorded at least three hits in back-to-back contests, raising his batting average to .325 in the process.     Advice: He's been examined by Dr. Tim Griffith in Atlanta and Dr. Keith Meister in Texas and it sounds like he might still be seeking additional opinions. Going through multiple consultations on your pitching elbow certainly is not a good sign, but nothing has been determined yet for Gipson-Long as far as treatment goes.
